Ok, I am going to book horseback riding with Sam and Julie for Jamaica. If you book through the company directly, kids 6-12 are charged "kid prices" but they are absolutely allowed. Not sure why Disney only has 12 and up, but the ages for the Chukka horseback riding/swim is 6 and up.

Julie and Sam are so excited :cool1:

im really considering tHis for me and my eldest son who will be 9 but was a bit nervous about booking it direct. He really would love it. Not sure how my husband would feel about us going without him and I don't think I could leave DD 2 in the nursery for that long.

The only thing that makes me nervous about booking myself on this cruise is the weather. But I am going to email and ask about the cancellation policy. I always prefer not to lose money if I can help it, but Julie has been asking to do this ever since she saw it. I think it is travelex will cover it if I book separately.

Checking cancellation policy and Travelex coverage is a great idea. With itinerary changes in both Sept 2004 and Sept 2005, I was happy to have booked all our excursions through DCL. They quickly re-booked excursions for Western vs. Eastern ports. I also have the delusion that the ship won't leave without us if we're on a Disney excursion and the provider gets us back late. Probably wrong... but I like pretending it's true :cool1:

I used to write trip reports, but I don't anymore. I think the last one I wrote was DLP. Now I just put together videos, so much simpler.

I read somewhere that the bobsled line can be really long and you only get 1 run down the hill. I could be wrong on that, but I think I read that somewhere. I could ask about Sam doing the horseback riding, but I am not sure they will let her being that she is 9 and the requirement is 12. I think Disney is relatively strict about that, but we will see. River tubing and the bamboo raft sound fun for me as well.

I really think we should visit the Mayan Ruins, but I should wait for Nico on that one. So maybe the Oct cruise. :confused3

I am booking my Alaskan excursions tonight, but while I am in full planning mode, I thought I should work on this one too. That way, I am not deciding last minute.

I do them to keep my memories straight.

You are lucky you have so many cruises to pick what you do.

With it being during the hurricane season, I think I'm going to book through Disney. That sucks that while the company allows those under 12, Disney doesn't.

Thats why we are going to book through Disney. Probably would save us to book outside of it.

I was kind of annoyed that Sam and Julie picked the same itinerary. I should look at it as lucky I get to go twice. I just wish one of them had picked Eastern or something. Oh well, I told them to choose, so that is what happens.

We've used Travel Guard, too. The Gold Plan covers kids FREE.

I know some plans have added benefits if you buy within a specified period from making your initial deposit.

I need to check out what DVC is offering. We're cruising on a mix of points and cash. As far as other pre-paid expenses, I still need to buy the flights and book a couple DVC nights somewhere at WDW. Maybe AKL again. I love watching the giraffes.

Do you prefer to stay at WDW before or after the cruise? We're staying before but I've been told that staying after is better because it makes getting off the ship easier. Just wondered what other opinions are?

I've always read staying before is better, because you are so spoiled by not paying for food and having turn down service that once you stay at the parks, it's a let down.

Interesting theory about getting off the ship, but not going home. My kids probably will appreciate that more. I am staying Sat- Thursday the following week. However, I think I am going to add the dining plan just so I am not paying for my meals while just having been pampered by all you can eat food.

I've done both. Going to the parks before is great. After all the walking, running around and all that goes with waiting in line and fun of being at WDW, it is a pleasure to be pampered on the cruise and to want for nothing! However going after DOES make it easier to get off the boat. It just prolongs leaving the mouse and returning to reality. My kids never want to go home.

I don't either :thumbsup2

We generally fly red-eye on Wednesday; Downtown Disney, pool and sleep on Thursday; go to a park on Friday and the cruise is Saturday.

With the flight from the West Coast, it's nice to know we have flexibility if we run into delays. It's also good to get on East Coast time before going on the cruise. :hourglass

After we disembark on Saturday, sometimes we are heading straight to the airport. That give us a day to crash at home before work/school on Monday. Other times, we've gone to check out Cape Canaveral or Gatorland and fly back on Sunday.
