Most kids come down a giant slide and drop into the freezing water. AWESOME photo op. Others dip in a toe and quickly head inside to grab their mini stuffed polar bear and cocoa. I'm thinking Sabrina was 3-4 the first time she did the slide. Now, Sabrina and some friends manage to actually swim for a while in the lap pool outside then come inside to hit the zipline ... of course they enjoy the cocoa as much as the others.

Lol love it!!!! That would me to, one toe in and right back inside for cocoa

Sabrina being on the DIS Kids Only thread worked great last cruise.
[*]Before the cruise Sabrina was looking forward to meeting everyone and excited to help with the FE gifts for the other kids.
[*]At in the terminal, Sabrina spotted a DISfriend before we even boarded.
[*]Once Aboard, we all had lunch together then the girls were off to The Edge after that.
[*]After the cruise, she has stayed in contact with a few kids on the DIS and we met up to do DL together in January.
Sabrina has always enjoyed time in the clubs even when she was 4.

I'm so glad, Oc so far likes the thread she can't wait to met the girls on it. Even thou I think they are going to be in the edge and Oc in the vibe

There are some girls that were on there before and one of them was 15. Hopefully they come back and post more often :)

I had Nico start one on his cruise because he saw Julie typing away. He kept asking if his cruise had a thread like that. I actually had to switch cruises to find kids his age. No big deal, now I get 4 days instead of 3.

That is awesome that you are all going to meet up in Disneyland. Were the friends on the West Coast?

Did you like the dolphin discovery in Cozumel?

It was perfect when Sabrina was 5. Cute little beach she played on afterwards. It turns out you could stay as long as you wanted. We would have booked an earlier excursion and made it a longer day, if we'd known more about Chankanaab National Park. We were scheduled for an Eastern but the first night out it changed to a Western (influenced by Hurricane Rita). DCL was awesome and reworked all the excursions (definite advantage to booking excursions with Disney).

Oceana, Julianna and Sabrina can find plenty of other options to hang out together outside the clubs... lunch, pool, etc. :dance3:

I'm glad the KID ONLY is geting Nico excited about his cruise too. There was one for our 2009 cruise, so I had Sabrina start a KIDS ONLY for our 2012 cruise and now 2014. I'm sure there will be a lot more folks that find our thread and the Kid thread in the next year+. There should be a good group of Edge tweens and Vibe teens chatting away by cruise trime. We had people joining the 2012 cruise all the way up to the last couple weeks.

Yes, our DISfriends live in Northern Calif about 6 hrs north of DL and have annual passes. When I set the date to go to DL and San Diego, I reached out and the Mom and DD drove down to meet Sabrina & me for the weekend. Feb 2012 we did a mother /daughter DL trip. It was awesome to have another mom and tween along this time. We moms could skip some of our less favoriter rides and watch the girls go :thumbsup2

I think it's a great idea also, I told my daughter the same thing the closer we are to the cruise the more kids are going to be on it.

We are just really early planners. My family (mom and brother) tell me I am not normal with my planning OCD. But I could never pull off the places I will be or have been visiting without planning years in advance.

The rest of the family says normal people plan their trips 6-10 months (if that) in advance. I plan 2-3 years out.:rotfl:

But I am ok with not being normal;)

I'm the same way I hate surprises I like to plan. One year my husband surprised me with a last minute Royal Caribbean Cruise weekend cruise, it would of been good except all that was available was an inside cabin on floor one or two at least on Disney they have a cool porthole which I would love to see. And none of the Excursions were available. I was so mad at him

I love this story!! I would have been angry too. That "surprise trip" would not be one that I would have liked at all!!!

I'm sorry it happened to you though. I love giving people surprise trips, but I make sure I KNOW that the other person gets what they want.

That will be awesome!! At least you have Chuck. If she runs away from me too much, I will be alone. I better bring some good books for the at sea days.

That's why I plan now. To get everything I want. What makes this trip different for me is that we did it in September the same one but rather than costa Miya it goes to Jamaica. So for the other places I don't want to do the same Excursions that we just did. So I have to go for second Choice. I would love to go horseback riding in the beach, but Zoe my 8 yr now is to young.

That will be good the only time I make the girls stay with us is diners and Shore excursions. I just looked at the vibe Video on Disney it looks owe some I wish I could be 14 again they have their own outside area

That was the same problem taking my 8yo with my 12yo in Bahamas. He really wanted to do the the dolphin push/pull excursion and she was too young. I took the 8yo in Nov by herself and we did the sea lion excursion. She loved it and we had the best time. Now in Grand Cayman on her cruise, she is old enough to do the dolphin excursions. She can't be pushed on the boogie board, but she can hold on to the top and let the dolphin do the work. She is too excited for that.

Now he is going next Jan and the only excursion he wants to do is the dolphin push/pull one. I could take Julie with Nico in Jan. That way, I wouldn't be completely ditched and she can do the excursion as well. However, she wants to go to brick and mortar next year. She is already missing 6 days 3 for Fiji and 3 for the TA cruise to Barcelona. She is already missing 1 day too many because they are only allowed to miss 5 days total of unexcused absences. She is too honest to be sick. She goes to school and says, "I'm going on a cruise tomorrow so I won't be here." The girl has no sense of not telling the whole story. If she was virtual schooling, I could take her with us no problem.

The vibe does look like fun. I wish I could be a kid of mine or your kid. Someone that is willing to book these awesome things. If I had to be 14 with my mom, she wouldn't book a cruise like this.;)

I like to plan, but my hubby doesn't like to talk about another trip until the last one is well past. 2014 is a little different in that it's our 20th Anniversary so we know we're doing a cruise. 1994 - Honeymoon - Greek Cruise, 2004 - 10th Anniversary 1st Disney Cruise (I surprised him 2 weeks before the sailing), 2014 - 20th Anniversary - DCL Jamaica!!! (We were on DCL a week after our 15th... for my BBFs wedding)

I'm good with surprises... but, come to think of it, I'm usually the one planning the surprise. :confused3 We usually go with an outside stateroom. We had a Veranda in 2004, but only went out once (Sabrina was 3 that might have been a factor). We don't spend enough time in the cabin for it to matter, but I want a split bath. I wonder if you can tell night from day with a Magic Porthole. :sunny:

Bring a book if you like, but plan on joining us for Margarita Tasting, Chacter Drawing or some other grown up fun! You'll have a lot of DISfriends by then, too!

Plus Disney is great about matching up table partners. On the last cruise ... one DISfriend was doing the mommy and me. They were seated with another mom and tween. The moms ended up spending as much time togehter as the kids. :tink:a little Disney Magic !

I've never had one :lmao:

I was matched up with single parents last time, but only one little girl was close to Samantha's age with her dad. We didn't see them during the day, but Sam and I sat at the some of the shows with them. Hopefully there is another parent daughter duo that is about Julie's age. On 3 day cruises, it's probably more difficult to get to know each other. 7 day cruises might be a little better for that kind of thing.

I am doing the same cruise with Samantha except she is going to Costa Maya in Jan 2014. However, I will probably do a few repeats since it's a different child. Because each child is so different, I could take the same exact cruise 3 times and have completely different experiences with each one.

Sam just asked me in the car if she could do Horseback riding. I will have to check and see if 9yo can do it. She was adamant that we not do horses swimming. Just on the beach. Julie on the other hand is all about the horses swimming with us on them. I really hope that gets offered through Disney as well.
