Jamie's Journal (comments welcome please!)

I'm really sorry your scale hasn't moved. I was like that a few weeks ago and then it moved and I wasn't happy because I was bloated and it went up. But I'm back to "normal" now and it's moving again. I guess our bodies do this just to see how we are going to react. For me, it's not a good reaction - trust me!!!!! :)

I too have been getting bored with what I'm eating, it seems like it's the same thing. I am finding that it I eat a Lean Cuisine once in a while - every couple of days for lunch - that's enough of a change up for me. We'll see when I get bored on those. And you also are like me - I'm not a veggie person. Don't really care for them. But I do like raw carrots and celery and I do like peppers (green, red, orange, yellow) cooked for like fajitas and I like corn. And that's about it. I do like salad but stick to tomatoes, carrots, celery and once in a while radishes if they are chopped up good. I just can't get to liking broccoli or cauliflower or spinach - you know, the ones that are suppose to be really good for you. Oh and I really like green beans but after a while of eating too many I start smelling like them when I go to the bathroom (sorry if TMI). And then everything in my house starts smelling like green beans. It's too funny sometimes.

Hang in there and keep up the work - it will produce great results soon I'm sure!

Keep on
Chris

Hi, Jamie! I know I thanked you in my journal, but I wanted to thank you here too for all the :sunny: and :goodvibes: you bring to my journal.

I wanted to respond to a couple of your comments:
1. For an italian dish tomorrow, I'd do a pasta salad made with tricolor pasta, frozen broccoli, carrot & cauliflower mixture (cooked til tender and then cut into smaller pieces. Add italian dressing and some garlic & parmesan cheese. Then if you want to make it really pretty, cut up some cherry or grape tomatoes (cut in half) and pour in some sliced olives. Very easy dish but everyone seems to like it. My friend also adds sun-dried tomatoes and cut up pepperoni, but I prefer not to include those ingredients.

2. Easy chicken recipes:
grilled chicken -- marinate chicken in a ziploc bag with fat free italian dressing and cook on the stove or the grill or a foreman grill; or

salsa chicken --spray a saucepan with pam, sautee cut up chicken until mostly cooked; pour salsa over it. You can add some shredded cheese before serving

diet coke chicken -- mix one can diet coke with one cup ketchup; put chicken pieces in large fry pan or saucepan sprayed with non-stick spray; pour coke/ketchup mixture over it; cover and simmer 45 minutes or until chicken is cooked through. My kids LOVE this and always ask me to make it. The sauce is almost like a barbecue sauce but so much better

3. green beans -- have you tried the WW oriental green beans recipe? It is delicious. Let me know if you want me to send it to you.

Keep up the great work! Have fun tonight shopping for something for tomorrow.

BTW -- if you can't think of anything to make, you could always bring a plateful of biscotti for dessert. That's italian and delicious and people might like it with an afternoon cup of coffee (I'll take decaf, please! ;) )

Hihi jamie!

I would give you cooking tips. But i don't cook ;-; last time i cooked i managed to make this steamed egg dish into this hard lump of egg oO i could lift it with a fork and if you wiggled it it wouldn't wiggle.
Something i really like to eat that my dad makes, is basically salmon marinated with i guess soy sauce, oyster sauce and it's wrapped in tin foil and then shoved into the oven. If your interested i'll ask my mom for the exact recipe. I like it when he makes it with chili, it's spicy but really good cause the fish is tender and doesn't have that fish smell.

Hang in there with the scale. Though you might want to try upping your calorie intake by about 100 or so calories. I found that whenever i hit a plateau, if i ate a bit more for a couple days and then lowered it again it helped move the scale. Partially i guess cause perhaps if your working out too much? and then your body is going into starvation mode and then hoards every carb you eat. So if you eat more then your body will stop hoarding. That or jump start your metabolism again. :goodvibes

Hang in there! and don't get frusterated! and dont' kick the scale ( i did the other day, my scale is metal and ebil...and unforgving) Your doing great!

Hang in there Jamie- the scale will move. I always consider PUSH good! :flower:

I can't wait to hear what dish you bring!!

Hi,
Sorry I haven't checked in for awhile. I hope that scale moves SOON! So frustrating!

Don't get discouraged by that pesky scale! It will move eventually, believe me I know!!! But you won't have to wait as long as I did, I'm sure you'll see it go down next week! :wizard:

Do you do any weights? I don't know if that is what started my scale moving again, but I did start losing once I started incorporating weights into my routine. It doesn't have to be much!!

YOU CAN DO IT!!!!!!!!!!!! :cheer2:

How did your potluck go?

Hi Jamie!

You are doing such a great job and I know that your scale will start moving for you soon! :goodvibes Keep up the good work and those numbers on the scale will go down! :Pinkbounc

Have a great weekend! :sunny:

Hi Cam!!! You are very welcome for the kind words in your journal. You are an inspiration to me. You have come so far and I think that is great!
Thanks for all the great receipes! I think I am going to go chicken crazy this weekend!!!!!! All of these sound great!

I was really up in the air on what to bring today and I had some many good ideas. I decided to try your pasta salad. Oh my I had a good time making it. I wanted to keep eating the pasta, LOL

I will let you know how things work out here....I am sure that everyone will love it!!!!

Thanks again Cam!!!

Thanks again everyone for you idea's for our potluck! After thinking long and hard I decided to try the receipe that Cam gave for the pasta salad.

Yesterday was an okay day. I made DH some of this ready bake pillsbury cookies and oh how I wanted some....He loves those things so when they come out around the holidays, I have to stock up on them! Crazy I know!

B at 5:30 1/3 cup cereal with 1/3 cup milk
S at 8:30 1 piece of toast with little pb
L at 12:00 1 can HC soup with 6 saltine crackers
S at 3:00 1 piece of toast with little pb
D at 6:30 2 corn tortilla's with cheese

I really wanted something better for dinner but we just didn't have time. I got home and we had a letter from a gas station saying that we pumped $84.00 in gas and left without paying. That was really disturbing. We were in the area of this gas station, but we didn't stop for gas. And to make it worse, or funny, we were on the bikes. The bikes only have a 4 gallon gas tank. How in the work would I be able to fit $84.00 in a 4 gallon gas tank. But they scary thing is, they had my DH license plate number. I know that it is a mistake, but still a little upsetting. I called the gas station today and told them there was a mistake and the guy that I talked to was great. He said that he believed me and would send security back out to take another look at the tape. So that is good. He told me not to worry about anything, but I think I will call again sometime next week just to make sure that everything is okay.

I did get some exercise in.....about 20 mintes so that was good. I need to get back to the 30-45 minutes. I have been alternating the weights, we have a bowflex too, and that seems to be working. Some mornings I push it too hard and I hurt the next day and I don't want to breath!!!! But I have too!

We are going to the circus tomorrow and then for a short motorcycle ride. It is suppose to be in the 80's tomorrow and then on Sunday we are suppose to stay in the 50's with SNOW!!!! I am so not ready for snow!!!!

Well I better get back to work. I will report back in at lunch after everyone has a taste of salad!!! Thanks again all

Have a great Friday!

Have a good time at the Italian potluck!

That is crazy about the gas. I know you will be anxious to get that cleared up.

You're doing great with the exercise. You'll get to your 30+ minutes.

Hi, Jamie! I am so glad you enjoyed making the pasta salad. You will have to tell me how it turned out and if everyone liked it. It certainly is easy to make and relatively inexpensive. Plus, it always means there is something there I can eat, even if everyone else brings stuff loaded up with cheese, etc.

I hope you find all sorts of yummy things to eat at the potluck! I am so incredibly impressed that you didnt' eat any cookies yesterday. You have to be SO PROUD of yourself! :cloud9 Good job, sweetie!

That thing with the gas station is very weird and scary. Be sure to note the name of the person you spoke with and the date and time so that you can prove you called them and disputed the letter. Good luck with it!

Keep up your great exercise efforts, too, and be sure to update the thread and/or your clippie so that I can keep your total accurate! You are right on track (actually ahead a bit) to meet your goal this month! :goodvibes:

Have a great day and an awesome weekend!

OK, the whole gas station thing would have really freaked me out! I would definitely follow up in a couple weeks and make sure they get everything cleared up.

THat is SO amazing that you could resist the cookies! :cool1: You need to :wizard: some of that cookie resisting power over to me since I will have about 10 lbs of cookie dough staring me in the face come Monday...

Hope you are having a great time at the potluck! I know you will make smart food choices, you always do! Keep up all your hard work and that scale will be moving in no time! :goodvibes

Hey Jamie-

That gas station thing is troubling. I hope they get it fixed quickly.

Look at you making cookies and not eating any. WOW, that's fantastic! :Pinkbounc

Hi Jamie!!

Thanks so much for keeping up your support in my journal even when I go dormant myself for a few days! It is much appreciated, believe me!
I hope that the strange gas station incident is truly settled. I had a similar experience this year when I received a letter saying my license was suspended for failing to appear in court for a traffic violation... which I did not do, and was even in Disney when the alleged incident happened!! So I called the court and found out that they had transcribed the license number of the woman who did the deed wrong, and the result was mylicense number. They straightened it all out immediately but I was freaked for a while afterwards!

I hope you are having a good weekend!
Mike :goodvibes

Hi Jamie!

How did your weekend go? It sounds like you had a good week! :goodvibes

I hope that you get that situation straightened out with the gas station soon. Sending some :wizard: your way!

Have a great Monday! :goodvibes Keep up the good work! :cheer2:

Are you enjoying your snow? I noticed on the news this morning that Colorado will be getting some more!! Send some my way!! :cold:

Just dropping by to say hi!

I hope all is well with you! :flower:

Hi All!!!! Whew what a busy last few days we have had. Sorry I didn't have a chance to get back on Friday. We had a crazy busy day afrer the potluck. Friday's are pretty quite, but stuff hit the fan in the afternoon and well there went the quite afternoon!!!!

I used Cam's receipe for the pasta salad and it was a hit. Thanks Cam!!! Everyone loved it. Even my boss who does not like brochooli (?) liked it. I will definilty be making that again!!!

So these last few days have been okay. I so wanted to give up again on Saturday. I just kept thinking that what I was doing was not really paying off. But then I sat and thought about everything and quickly changed my mind. I have come so far, I don't want to throw all the away. I want to be thin darn it! So here I am, still with it! YAY for me. Although I have had the worst sweet tooth. My DH asked me to make him a cheesecake and I so wanted to eat it....but I didn't. I did plan a little into my day yesterday and it was YUMMY!!! I didn't eat the whole pie, like I wanted to, I just had a very little (Dh laughed, told me it was not even worth it) piece and it was enough to fill me. I don't want any more. He can have the rest!

I have been pretty good with the water. Again, not the best, I need to get more down. I didn't make my goal of 100 oz last week or this weekend. I don't know what it is,I just don't want to drink it. I want something else, not sure what though. I hate it when I am like that. I got in some good exercise, so that was nice!

So it snowed here yesterday, but the weird thing is where I live, we didn't get any snow! I mean there were flakes but nothing stuck to the ground. It either rained or snowed all day. The airport is about 15 miles east of us and they ended up getting like 9 inches. And we got nothing. Down south they got hammered. But the weekend is suppose to be nice. Saturday is to be in the 70's. Go figure!!!!! I guess that is why they say, If you don't like the weather in Denver, wait 5 minutes and it will change!!!!

Well I will check in tomorrow. I hope each and everyone of you is having a great Tuesday. Thanks again for all the kind words and encouragement!!!!!

Have a great healthy night

Hi Jamie!

Good to see you posting! Sorry to hear that Saturday was a tough day for you and so proud of you for sticking with it!!! :cheer2: Here's a lower fat cheesecakey-recipe I have made before that the people in my office love, just in case you need something quick and easy for that sweet tooth.:

1 brick of fat free cream cheese
1 tub of fat free cool whip
3-4 packets of Splenda or any sweetener, or a couple of teaspoons of sugar
Half of a lemon's juice
capful of vanilla extract
One of the low fat Keebler pie crusts
Any fruit or topping you want (fat free/sugar free ice cream toppings work great with this!)

Soften the cream cheese at room temperature, add the lemon juice, vanilla and sweetner, and beat until creamy and fluffy. Fold in the cool whip. I usually take a third of the cool whip and whisk it in really good to get the mixture started and then gently fold in the rest of the mix. Place in the crust and chill for a few hours. Can be made with the full fat/sugar varients too. I make many different types of this "pie" by adding various items to the mix, like some sugar free chocolate syrup to the mix. I have also made it in individual muffin cups with a couple of crushed Nilla wafers in the bottom.

Well that ends my recipe sharing for the morning! hehe Hope that you have a most excellent day and that you keep up the great work!!

Mike :goodvibes

Hi Jamie!

Way to go sticking with your plan! :cheer2: I think we all have days where we would like to chuck healthy living into the nearest garbage can, but you are sticking with it Jamie and that is wonderful! :goodvibes

Did you say snow? :earseek: Oh my goodness! It's too early for snow!! :scared1:

I hope you have a wonderful Wednesday! :sunny: Go Jamie Go!!! :cheer2:
