Went to the Jamesville Balloonfest near Syracuse, NY last weekend. Created a webpage to share with friends and family and since I consider all of you friends, thought I'd post it here (caution: Lots of pictures to load!):

Jamesville Balloonfest

Enjoy!

How beautiful! That's something I've always wanted to see. The only time I've seen Hot Air Balloons is at WDW.

Great pictures. Thanks for sharing. :D

Terrific photos. DH and I went to the Balloon Fiesta in Albuquerque last Oct. It was wonderful. They have over 750 balloons that rise and they have to do it in shifts so it takes a couple hours to get them all off the ground.

I would agree, go to a hot air balloon festival if you can. It is amazing and so much fun being an "observer". You wouldn't catch me dead in one of those but I sure do enjoy watching them. ::yes::

Beautiful pictures!! What a great time you guys must have had!

We have a balloonfest in my city each Memorial Day weekend. I suppose we get around 75 balloons each year. They have all sorts of balloon races and then on the last night they hold a balloon glow. The field is covered with balloons tethered to the ground and as the sun sets they all light up. They'll do it 5-6 times. It's absolutely beautiful.

I've had the opportunity to take several hot air balloon rides through my connection with the Yankee Peddler Festival. We launch a balloon at sunset on each day of the festival and, over the course of 18 years, I have managed to crawl into the basket on three or four occasions. If any of you ever have a similar opportunity, take it. A ride is a hot air balloon is a magical experience.

Thanks for sharing your photos Scott.

I used to co-pilot hot air balloons in my younger days for a local steakhouse. They still amaze me even after getting up at 4am all those years to go flying!!

When I give DH a "Richard Petty Driving Experience" gift I will be laying down hints that I would like a gift certificate for a hot air balloon ride too!! :p It's always been a dream of mine to go up in one, I think it would be awesome!! ::yes::

Several years ago, during Frontier Days, a nearby town had a small balloon festival and Friday/Saturday nights and again Sunday morning they would launch and most of the time they would drift over our way. I remember one Sunday morning DH and I sat outside on our porch, sipping our morning coffee, as they glided by and we could hear the sound they make as they put more hot air into them. So neat!!

Glad everyone enjoyed the photos! It was a great event and the food was excellent, too! Can't wait until next year.

Hello, fellow CNY'er. I've been several times, not this year, though. Glad you had a great time. Thanks for sharing.

And as you watch those balloons rise into the crisp air you see lots of billowing clouds floating around the sky. You start to look at those clouds and they remind you of Cotton Candy! Yes that wonderful food that you remember from your childhood. So stop by the Fair Food poll and vote for Cotton Candy, the official food of the Jamesville Balloonfest DIS board post.
