We are staying at Jambo but have an ADR at Saana our first night. We are coming from a 5 night BLT stay so assuming we are too tired by then to walk  we can take a DTD bus TO Kidani and any park bus back to Jambo, correct?

That is correct. They have also been providing shuttle service between the two resorts. You could probably check with the concierge or valet about that option. Enjoy Sanaa -- that is our favorites restaurant on site!

That's correct. And there is a van shuttle from the front door valet area between the two resorts. Just ask a valet person out front if or when they expect the next shuttle from Jambo to Kidani. And you can also take the shuttle back to Jambo or a park bus from the bus stop area like you said.

Yes, you have it right. Remember, there is also a free shuttle van that runs between Jambo and Kidani. Check with the CMs at Concierge or the parking valets to confirm how late in the evening the shuttles operate.

Bell Services operates the van between the two buildings.

So, do they call for a shuttle (kind of like valet)? Should you call down before you leave your room? The reason I am asking is b/c we are staying at JH but the pool is closed. I'm not sure what the temperature will be so I don't want my girls to have to wait too long in their bathing suits (they will be covered up also).

This is our first stay, so any advise would be great. Our dates are 1/26 to 2/1.

Thanks!

So, do they call for a shuttle (kind of like valet)?

I've never tried calling ahead for the shuttle. Usually, the shuttle runs back and forth depending on demand. We've waited up to five minutes for the shuttle. Your kids can stay in the lobby if they want, and then you can run and get them when the shuttle arrives.

I would think that Bell Services could at least give you an idea of the next arrival time if you call them ahead of time.

I've stayed at Kidani last summer after the shuttle had been reported as operating and I didn't see the shuttle running. Hearing that it's operated by bell services it makes sense that it wasn't as they were very short staffed last summer. (We had to wait over three hours for luggage delivery and I waited over an hour for luggage pickup for transfer and they never came - had to bring it down myself, and then was scolded for not waiting LOL... but I'm wandering away from our topic here...)

My point is that the shuttle may or may not be running - don't count on it. Do check with bell services though and count on using buses or walking as a backup.

Now the question, Since this is bell services operating the shuttle, is a tip expected?

We used the shuttle in November going both directions. The driver never left his seat. We told him thanks and he didn't wait to be tipped. Another valet open the door and help me down. No tip there either. It was a full van each way and I don't think anyone tipped.

One of the issues and communication problems we had at AKL in December 2010 is that Valet told us to use the shuttle for our Sanaa ADR, but NEVER told us that it stops running after something like 9pm. The Valet people were absolutely confused when we finally got back and shared that tidbit with them. They had no idea.

Hopefully they are all better informed now. But if your ADR might run on the later side, ask the driver of the shuttle, just so you know what to expect.

We were exhausted, it was COLD (literally freezing most early mornings and late nights), it was the end of our trip, we had been at Universal ALL day long, and to come out in the pitch black only to find that we had to figure out a way to get back to Jambo was...very emotionally and physically bad for us. DS was so tired and cold that he was in tears. We had only checked in moments before we headed out for the ADR, hadn't had time to look at maps, had NO idea where the path between the resorts was (and my mind's eye pictured a fenced in path through the savannah, LOL), and when we decided on the bus and waited for it, the driver was downright mean and it was very unpleasant.

And to think we had a car parked in the lot, but thought the shuttle would be easier!

My whole point is just to KNOW what you should expect. So if you use the shuttle, ask the driver when they stop the service for the evening, and maybe check out where the bus stop is before you enter Kidani for your reservation.

ENJOY Sanaa! We are looking forward to our meal at Sanaa more than almost any ADR we have. It was so tasty!

Thank you. Truthfully, we will probably walk( at least there), and that is exactly what I am doing, knowing our options before we need them. Funny how it's the issues like this that have the potential to really mess up a Disney day. Have experienced several myself over the years :sad2:

Dh and I always walk between Kidani and Jambo, I actually think it's faster than waiting for a tram or bus. However, we aren't going with kids so that could make a big difference.

We always walk between the two, and it's never an issue. I can guarantee you will get there faster that way. Oh, and we are OLD and one of us has several replacement joints, so if we can do it, anyone can!;)

We just returned from there last week and we also walked. And we have a 3 and 5 year old.
One night we walked out of the Jambo lobby and thought hey let's walk.
Imagine my surprise that we were there in 5 mins. Jambo and Kidani are literally beside each other.

We went with our children and also walked. Its maybe a 5 minute walk. We enjoyed it, sometimes doing multiple times in a day when DS was collecting beads for his necklace. :scared1: :rotfl: They are very close together.

When I was there in October there was no guarantee where the bus was going to stop first. Sometimes it stopped at Jambo first and sometimes it stopped at Kidani first. The best thing to do is ask the driver. But, if you don't catch a bus going from Jambo to Kidani, you can ask for a shuttle at the Concierge desk. Especially if you are a solo traveler or it's late at night.
