I will be traveling solo to the Akl this summer and hope to listen to some of the stories and certainly the night vision t :cool1: o. Not to long now!

Does anyone know if the cookie decorating is just for kids? Or is it for kids and their parents? I'm going to be at AKL solo, but if it's for kids and their parents, I may see if I can be an "honorary parent" for a day. I'd love to do this!

Hey Kimmar,

What have you been drinking? Where is the Azuma Savannah that you referred to?

Kathy

hey - thanks for posting the storytelling but is that since the time change? The sun doesn't set here until like 8 or so....so I was thinking it would be a tad later??

Also, we have a std room, but would like to be higher than the first floor...is that possible?

HEY GUYS, guess what??!?!?!!? :cool1: My DH is beginning to 'crack'...... :woohoo:...we were talking about AKL last night, and we figured that it'd only actually cost about $400-$500 out-of-pocket for us; plus, my Sis-i-L and her family MAY join us......keep your fingers, legs, and ANY OTHER  body parts crossed for me...... :teeth:

Best of luck Kimmar I am crossing my finger etc for you! :thumbsup2 Keep us posted!

Activity times change with the seasons. Concierge CM's have advised us to check the board at the front of the resort or call the front desk for exact times and activities offered. There are sometimes little surprises that take place in the resort. Last fall they had a special visiting group from Africia who danced and sang. They performed twice during our week visit.

The storytelling around the fire pit has always been after sundown during our visits. So the time I am sure would change with the different times of year.

- The standard rooms are on the first four floors, so you may be assigned a room up higher. You do not have to worry about being on the first floor. The resort is built with the lobby being raised above the first floor level and there are not any rooms on the lobby level.

I have never had the time to attend either the cookie decorating or the culinary tour. Sorry. But, I am sure someone will be along shortly with an answer. :sunny:

so all rooms have an enclosed balconies? I guess I just don't want a ground floor room where my sliding door opens out to everything....meaning I can run across the parking lot.

sorry I didn't see this a few pages back! Is this from a recent in the "time change" visit?

No problem!!! I just wanted to give her credit......... I "took" it from her to post again!!!! Also, once you get to the resort, check the activities board near the front desk, it will give all the current times of the activities!! Have fun!!

I believe all the rooms do have balconies, so no, you can't walk out or off of it. However, you may get a "parking lot" view........... BUT, you can call and have it noted on your reservation that you'd like to be on a certain floor.......... I booked standard in Jan./Feb. and requested the 3rd or 4th floor. I also requested a non-smoking bunk bed room......... we got everything we requested and more!!!! We were complimentary upgraded to a deluxe bunk bed savannah view!!!!!!!! We didn't even ask!!!!! ( How's that for pixie dust!!) I'd advise you to call and have any request noted on your reservation. It isn't guaranteed, but it never hurts, and they really do try to accomodate you

It was magical and we totally fell in love with the resort. Good Luck, but, do call and have all your request noted.

thanks guys! We stayed here in 04 in a SV room and fell in love with it! The resort itself is so relaxing! We id std this time to cut costs....and now that I want to upgrade to pool view - there are none - should have done it sooner!

We will be Disneymooning from May 14-21. Can you believe it? Only 17 days until we are at AKL!! We are in a standard room but I really want to have a room with a king bed. Should I just tell them when I check-in? I wish so much that we would be upgraded to a Savannah view! That does happen right?
I wanted to share my happiness with everyone and if anybody has suggestions or tips about AKL or Disney for honeymooners please let me know!!
We are eating at Boma for the first time on May 14th!! I have to have one of those Zebra Domes!! I'm a sweets fanatic! I hope everyone has fun on their trips. :cloud9:

Congratulations!!!! Call and have it noted on your reservation that it is your honeymoon, also make a request for a room with a king bed. Any request you have, you should have noted on your reservation!!!! Good Luck ~ Happy Honeymoon!!!! :wizard:

DD8, DW, and I went to the cookie decorating. DD8 jumped right in, and started decorating. The hostess then encouraged Mom and Dad to decorate cookies, too! It was fun. They had a tray of cookies, along with numerous toppings including gummi bears, sprinkles, etc.

Enjoy being an "Honorary Parent" and cookie decorator!

That's an awesome shot! I'm SOOOOO excited, it'll be our first time there and I just can't talking about it w/ DH! I actually called WDW Travel earlier to see if the rooms have a VCR or DVD player so we can bring DD's videos, but the CM said they don't have them in the rooms. Bummer.

So how are these SV's like? I'm SOOO excited!
