I am hoping that on our last day we can just hang out at the resort. Do you think having breakfast & dinner at Boma is to much for one day? I have not tried the breakfast, so I am looking forward to that.

Well, my sister summer trip has turned into a part solo trip as well. I love the AKL and can't wait to get back. I have only stayed there once before. What do you think I can do at the lodge as a solo? I may go and listen to one of the stories by the fire--is it only for kids?

We are having breakfast in the morning at Boma and dinner at Jiko on our resort day.
We have only done Boma for dinner. Which has always be fabulous. If you do it twice in one day I wouldn't plan on having lunch. You will be stuffed!

Thank you for the coffee info-I will bring some Kenyan coffee from Starbucks in keeping with the AKL theme-oh dear I'm afraid I'm going to having to join a self help program for AKL devotees, and I've only known we're going for a month-what's going to happen when it's only a month away? :mickeyjum

Do many of you do a full resort day? (There seems to be so many cool things :cool1: to do any of you do resort afternoons after mornings at the parks? what to do, what to do..................

Patricia,

I used the coffee maker at AKL in December. It uses pods. The coffee that was provided wasn't Nescafe and it was pretty good. A full pot makes two cups of coffee (in the cups that are provided at the Lodge).

Wendypooh,

ZDA-Is that for Zebra Dome Anonoymous? (LOL)-then I'm sure your right about that!
(These little goodies are available on demand? (Can't you pick them up at Mara if you aren't eating that day at Boma?)

A good cup of coffee and a zebra dome-sounding pretty good about now...

We are planning on spending a day at the resort during our trip in Nov/Dec. My youngest is going to need some down time and I want to explore as much of the resort as possible during our stay. I am planning plenty of rest time at the resort during our entire stay but plan on spending one full day there before the MVMCP at night.

We were originally going to stay at this hotel back in 2002 and I regret that we didn't at the time so this trip we are staying here. I can't wait.

We will be Disneymooning from May 14-21. Can you believe it? Only 17 days until we are at AKL!! We are in a standard room but I really want to have a room with a king bed. Should I just tell them when I check-in? I wish so much that we would be upgraded to a Savannah view! That does happen right?
I wanted to share my happiness with everyone and if anybody has suggestions or tips about AKL or Disney for honeymooners please let me know!!
We are eating at Boma for the first time on May 14th!! I have to have one of those Zebra Domes!! I'm a sweets fanatic! I hope everyone has fun on their trips. :cloud9:

....abolutely not! Go and listen to those enchanting stories...you can also so the "Night-Vision goggles" thing at the Azuma Savannah, which is pretty cool. Don't miss the culinary tour, too!

HEY GUYS, guess what??!?!?!!? :cool1: My DH is beginning to 'crack'...... :woohoo:...we were talking about AKL last night, and we figured that it'd only actually cost about $400-$500 out-of-pocket for us; plus, my Sis-i-L and her family MAY join us......keep your fingers, legs, and ANY OTHER  body parts crossed for me...... :teeth:

Fax your request ahead of time for the King bed. Make sure they know that it is your honeymoon. We went in February and we were upgraded. I was so happy. If you can't wait for Boma you can get Zebra domes at Mara.

I had to join in the fun with the great AKL ticker! Very cool!

First, Congratulations! Walt Disney World, what a wonderful place to celebrate your marrage and spend your first days as husband and wife. :) I would right now call Disney and have the CM add a request to your ressie for a King bed and ask them nicely to add on that it is your honeymoon. The room assigners work up the rooms about 3-5 days in advance. Hopefully they will note your request and that your on your honeymoon. pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust: Disney really does try to honor our request whenever they can. My experience with Animal Kingdom Lodge is they have always given my DH and myself our requested bedding, room location and view. I hope you have a wonderful trip. Be sure to come back here and let us know how everything went. You are going to LOVE AKL.

But remember, back away from the Zebra Doms. ;)

Best Wishes,
Angel (Charter member of ZDA)

Wow you guys make this place sound just awesome! I am planning a split stay Swan/AKL on September and I can't wait! I have never been to AKL and am a "zebra dome virgin". But I am sure that it won't take me long to be hooked-they look amazing! What are they filled with? Solid chocolate? yummy!
Also, I had a quick question about the room. I am staying standard savannah view and my cm requested the "giraffe paddock" for me. Where is this? What other animals typically hang out there?
Thanks so much for this thread-it is such a wealth of information!
