Yep! That's the current policy anyway! :rotfl:

It's the YOAMD mug and you can use it at any resort during your stay!

Just subscribing, but also wanted to comment on all the lovely photos of the resort. I need to take a photography class. :)

i wouldn't do that!

Maybe CSR had lots of *mug inventory* but most other resorts were "out" and only selling the blue Year of a Million Dreams mug. Also, none of the resorts had the coffee-mug type. We asked at many of the resorts and were told their shipment had only included the other type! (don't know what that one's called!) That was in August. And since I'll be there again next week, I will gladly check again! ;)

We've been told they're going to change mug styles (but keep them universal to the resort) pretty frequently....approx every year.

I call them "cupholder buster" mugs (the larger style), or CB Mugs, for obvious reasons. The "thinner" mugs are "cupholder friendly" mugs, or CF Mugs.

:)

That's probably the best solution, but could get quite interesting. Pity the person in charge of inventory control! :scared1:

I like that name! "cupholder-buster mugs" it is! :thumbsup2

Does Mara also sell the mugs that are the generic resort mugs? After AKL, we're switching to BCV and would like to just buy them once.

can someone answer this specific question for me please, thanks!

Hi, I know this has probably been asked, but this is a loong thread & I've tried to read through & didn't find an answer to my question, so... we're going to AKL in Oct. with a code, with a standard room (all that was available). We want to know what should we request for a standard room, what are the chances for an upgrade to savannah view, will making a request hurt our chances for an upgrade, how do you ask for an upgrade? Any help? Thanks!

any thoughts?

I booked AKV pool view studio for April 19-26, 2008. I am so excited!!! A whole week at AKL! It is like a dream come true. Even my Dh is excited and he usually could take it or leave it with the resorts. But we LOVE AKL.

Hi there-I can't really advise on what to request for a standard room-I have only stayed in pool view-and have only been to AKL once, so I'm not the best on 'where' to request in the lodge. But, as far as upgrades, I don't think putting a request on your room will hinder your chances. I think AKL upgrades whenever they can, if it's a busy week, you are less likely to get an upgrade. If you ask for an upgrade upon check-in they will tell you the price difference between the rooms-from what I know, those that have been upgraded for free either find out at the front desk when the CM tells them, or when they get to their room.

I know I'm not much of a help, but hopefully someone else can fill in the gaps! :)

Jambo!! I come bearing the first of many (unless you tell me to stop ;) ) pictures from our 9/1-9/9 stay at AKL.

I have lots more...but I took those in the first half hour we were there! ;) I couldn't help myself. The club lounge was amazing! I loved sitting and relaxing and being able to look over the entire lobby below.

Our rooms were perfect!! We had rooms 4409 and 4411. They were just past Arusha rock on Zebra trail. A great location. Close to everything yet far enough "out" to have a good view of the animals. As you can see in the pictures not only did we indeed end up with connecting rooms but we also had our dearly hoped for combination of two queens in one room and a queen and bunk beds in the other. Two bathrooms really helped out during the morning crunch! I think it was a way better set up then one deluxe room ever would have been.

Here is a link to my trip report if anyone is interested: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1585715

I will post more pictures (better ones) ;) soon!

....another 'convert'.....can't wait for your 'trippie' and LOTS of pix....;)
[...BTW ~ didja eat some ZD's for us??]

Yes, Kimmar, I did eat some zebra domes for you--they sure were rich, though, so I couldn't eat but one or two at a time. As for transportation, for the most part, it was good. We did have a couple of incidents where we had to wait really long for buses, but from reading what other people say, this is not the norm. We had to wait about 20 minutes our first Sat. night for the Downtown Disney bus, and then one day (maybe that same Saturday?), we had to wait for like 40 minutes for the bus to pick us up at Epcot (as you can imagine, our DD10 with Asperger's was fit to be tied...so were we by the time the bus came). There must have been some problem that day :confused3 , b/c we didn't usually have much of a wait at all, and buses were only crowded at closing times a couple of times.

Here's our problem, though. DH and I are going back in February for a mommy/daddy trip for a few days after a business trip, and are HOOKED on AKL. Problem--this is peak season! Have you guys seen the prices on rooms then?!? Oh my gosh!!! Any chance of a discount code on a room only for the weekend AFTER President's Day weekend?

As for the trippie and pics, the trippie is in the works, and I'll have to have DH show me how to post pics. Hopefully he won't give me a hard time about it!

Jambo! Absolutely - keep those pictures coming! Your trip report is great; can't wait to read more. :goodvibes

Your guys are adorable! (can't wait to read what you're having! ;))

Thanks for the terrific pics. :flower3: We are 29 days out from our first stay at AKL ~ Savannah View, & I'm sooo excited!! Did you see lots of giraffes & zebras from your room?

Loving the pics, we are in countdown mode, my daughter has been waking up everyday with the question, "How many more days until Disney World". Looking forward to our second stay at AKL.

OK- you all know our story- we are staying on club level for the first time ever- the robes in the rooms- are they for keeps or just on loan - at first thought- wearing someone else's robe skeeved me out, but on second thought.......... Do you know where that towel has been?!:lmao:

I know a silly question but if they have the AKL logo and are for keeps we will be happy to keep them- our 11 and 13 year olds would be thrilled to have them! Anyway,... TIA for the information- I wouldn't want to keep something that isn't mine!
