wow

there are too many pages for me to look at here . i'll just ask my questions .

-well , i will be in AKL in about 2 days and i was wondering on what should i expect ?

-where do i wait for the busses to go to the parks ? and is it always crowded ? how much time should i give myself ?

-what other stuff should i bring ? besides the obivious (toothbrush etc ... )

-we will bring driving down to disney from new york so i would like to know where the parking lot is on site ? is it far ?

-does AKL do anything special to the rooms if we have a birthday girl ? she is celebrating her sweet 16 . or if they do anything special at all for birthdays ?

-any other suggestions would be great . i just got the disney fever and i really can't think straight ..

thanks for your time ...

P.S. Can'T WaiT To LeaVe ThE SnOw BeHinD

You must be so PSYCHED! Now for the bad news...I know you will laugh, but we are getting a cold snap here! Bring warmish clothing just the same. We are literally getting freeze warnings for the next few nights. Long pants for the parks, etc. The buses from DAKL go to all the parks, don't worry. Three out of the four parks, once you are in a park, are accessible by monorail (except DAK) and/or boat, so no worries there. What to bring...bring bathingsuits anyway. Crazy people have been spotted in the pools at the resorts by me personally. Steam rising from their wretched bodies! The pools are heated. Just don't get out! LOL

For the birthday girl--when checking in, tell checkin desk you have a special occasion. They will give you all the info you need. All restaurants will do cakes but you have to make priority seatings (407-939-DINE). There is a separate phone number to order a cake to be sent to that particular restaurant. It is advised that you order the cake 48 hours in advance of your restaurant seating time. Disney has been stepping up lately and doing some really neat things for its guests, we've been noticing. So, hopefully you will leave for NY with some pixie dust thrown your way.

As far as the "self" parking lot, it's a hike. Do yourself a favor and just valet the car, if not for the stay, but at least for the initial checkin. It's worth the bucks for the valet and the bellman just to make it so much easier to check in and get settled.

Biggest advice: RELAX!

....we SHALL see, won't we....??!?!? :teeth:

Well, I got one numba for ya, and it's 2.13, baby. That's Dice-K's ERA...not too shabby!

I probably will never get private emails again with Punxatawney Phil from you now!!!! LOL

Yeah, Johnson was old and prickly. He needed to go back to the "Cactus" league! We shall see how our young Japanese buck does for the Red Sox! We live next to NYY fans here in Celebration, and it's hysterical the jabs that go back and forth! In fact, you and the couple of Bawsten guys who joined us on this thread will love this. My NYY friend/neighbor took it upon herself to book us a dinner on 3/31 at Le Cellier (yum) for the four of us to go out to celebrate the commencement of baseball season. We said yes on one condition: that we all dress up in our finest baseball duds. So, they will be in full-dress Yankees outfits and we will be donning our Red Sox stuff. You can just imagine the comments from the peanut gallery strolling around EPCOT that evening! LOL I can't wait. They're good people, both raised with NYY in their blood, so I can't fault them for that. They have a true love the game. In fact, I always say, "I hate NYY fans, well, except for Christine!" It's an ongoing joke!

Anyway, sorry to bother everyone with my baseball fodder! It's just a lot fun, this rivalry, isn't it?!

Okay, well it's not all that bad. If you haven't left NY yet, the cold snap may be happening while you are en route. I live here, about six minutes from property, and they say showers. I don't see showers. We are looking at really cold weather for the next three days. Lows of 34 expected tomorrow night and into Sunday night (that's cold, even for us northerners), early Monday morning. This is the good news...things start warming up to the mid 70's during the days next week, so I hope you're staying a while!

Call 407-939-2329 for birthdays. I believe this number can answer your cake questions.

As far as the rooms, other posters on this site can answer you better than I can. I live here, so I don't get to stay at DAKL very often (the downside of living at the Mouse!). Some know every single trail and every single room and the views attached! So, put the question out there again. I am sure someone can answer your questions about room requests. With respect to the water parks, mid 70's is tolerable, and you will find the wp's very uncrowded. All the water is heated, so don't discount visiting. Keep in mind that Typhoon Lagoon is closed for refurbishment until March 18th so you will have to jump over to Blizzard Beach. Not such a bad thing...BB is closer to AKL!

DonaldIsDisney,

We always request a room on the Arusha Savannah, Zebra Trail. The restaurants and pool are located on this side of the AKL.

whats up with AKL...I have been trying to get a AP rate right before the spring breaks start and they have no availabilty except for the Savannah view rooms? Yet, AAA and Expedia have rooms but are much higher priced than a AP rate. I have finally decided to book a room at CSR with hopes of changing it to a standard view room at AKL. I would love to stay in the SV room but that is just not in our budget this time. Here's hoping to some rooms becoming available!

Can't help you there about AP rates. We just booked AKL for the week prior to Easter and used DVC points, so we speak different languages! LOL Disney is not cutting a lot of breaks for Florida residents like they used to. I don't know what's up.

I can't get the link to work for the tour....help!!

Listen, Wallyb, you can't be from Bawsten, be named after our Fenway mascot, and not be into baseball! LOL

Where do you live in Bawsten, by the way?

I haven't been gone that long not to remember the difference between Southie and the South End (one has a parade and one has great restaurants)! I worked in the Pru for years! I do hope the glass in the old tower is hanging in there! I grew up in Needham, migrated to Watertown, then to Reading and finally to Wakefield...then moved to FL.

Welcome Heatherlynn! The GF (a/k/a The Red Roof Inn) maybe nice, but we all love DAKL! Good choice for your parents. They'll love it. By the way, great pic!
