Yeah! I am going to book dd and I for the AKL! We have been going to WDW almost yearly since she was born but for the last two years it has been a struggle since I am now a single mom- so we uauslly stayed at the values (thank goodness they are there so I could take dd and be on property.) But with good tidings and a lot of work I am able to splurge this time for a standard view at the AKL!!! Yeah! I am so excited!! THis is will be a surprise for dd who will be six at the time of the trip and is very into animals.

Aww good for you! I hope you have a great time!

What is this group's thoughts on Pool View at the AKL? And where are the best rooms in this category?

DH and I love AKL, and are torn between staying Pool View (which we've never done) or Woods View over at the WL in March with the AP rate. Right now, I'm booked at WL (mainly for the new rooms, and to give it another shot), but I keep getting pulled back to AKL. Just wanted to know what everyone thought of this category - unfortunately, Savannah isn't available (except in bunk beds) for our stay.

I don't have much WDW/AKL experience, only been there once-but we stayed pool view and loved it. It was very beautiful and tropic looking. We were on the 4th floor, Zebra trail and couldn't hear noise from the pool in our room and the view was just perfect in my opinion. Have you seen any of the pictures of the view on the thread?

I think Tigger made an honest mistake here....it looks like the kid was bugging Tigger by pulling on his costume somehow. I've been in a similar costume in the past for one of my old jobs, and they are very hard to manuever around in, you can't see very well and your balance is easily thrown off. I hope the guy in the Tigger costume doesn't loose his job over this...

Ok probably a stupid question, but does anyone know if AKL assigns rooms before you arrive, as in would I be able to get a general idea of where by checking my reservation on the disney website? I am pretty sure this more than likely does not happen until you check in, but just thought I would ask and confirm. Thank you for your help:flower3:

I have not. Does anyone have a handy link? Deb's site has some pictures, but any others would be appreciated.

Of course right now, the Pool View has once again disappeared for our dates (only both bunk bed options available). It did this last night, too, so here's hoping...

...I've stayed in a Savannah view AND a Poo;l view room - personally, they were BOTH awesome - obviously, for different reasons....that being said, I really enjoyed the Pool view room and its proximity to all the major locations of the lodge, especially after a long day at the parks!

Thanks - I will check it out! (Although I will admittedly scan the thread for pics - and then come back later for reading. :coffee: )

...suit yourself.....[the reading is guaranteed to make you chuckle.....:teeth: ]

Happy Saturday all you AKL Fans

Anyone at the world recently. How is the lodge coming along with its construction?

Does anyone have a recent schedule for the children's programs during the day? - taking DNeph back in two weeks and we'll be spending our final day just hanging out at AKL until we go to the airport at about 3PM ( he LOVED the programs last summer - and the CMs who ran them :thumbsup2 ).

Just got back from 5 days at WDW last night. We stayed at AKL. I must admit I was a little disappointed in my stay.
To begin, the resort was beautiful and very awe-inspiring. Not that we had a bad trip but the level of service was not what I expected after reading this thread.
We arrived around 10am to check-in. We were prepared to wait for a room to be ready later in the afternoon. I waited in line behind a group of ladies that were checking out. It was a little bad on the service level at this point. They had 4 CM for Concierge check-in. These people were walking right up and the "regular" folks were about 10 people deep with only 2 CMs helping us. The ladies in front of me, kept trying to get a a manager or someone else to help everytime someone came from the back. It surprised me as each of these CMs would "snap" at these ladies. These ladies were not being rude, they just wanted to get some assistance. It had been 15 minutes and our line wasn't moving and Concierge was staying empty. (it was a little frustrating). After about 20 min, 2 additional CM came out to clear our line. I had a woman in a Black coat (must have been a supervisor). I was friendly and tried chatting with her about the pretty day we were having. She was really rushed and did not seem to have time to answer my questions or to talk with me. She referred me to the brochures in my room and the WDW packet "to answer any questions I may have." She was very curt and unfriendly. They did have a room ready so we were able to get settled before heading to the park. The bellmen were very friendly and informative. If you like quiet, do not stay in pool view room. People were out at the pool and were very loud until after midnight. Mousekeeping did not leave us any towel animals and turn down service was nothing more than a couple of chocolates on each bed. The resort did not seem real busy so I am not sure where the service was that everyone raves about. We did eat at BOMA and it was wonderful. No problems with bus service. Usually walked right up and the bus was either there or loading. Mara was also good. Loved the gift shop!!! All this being said, DH and I are thinking of giving AKL one more try in March when we take his parents to the World.

Thanks for the review jaysbabe. We are looking forward to our first stay @ AKL starting jan 25th:banana: Sorry to here the check-in process didn't go smoothly, but it sounds like that was the rest of the trip was great:goodvibes
