Hey all!! I love this thread and I'm sure that directions on how to find a map of the AKL is buried in here somewhere but it's a long thread so could one of you veterens help me out?? :wave2:

We're heading to AKL on 1/8 for 4 nights. It's my 3yo DS 1st visit to Disney. This resort looked awesome and DH likes a little more quiet than being "so close" to the Disney action without leaving the property. :cheer2: :wizard:

Any info is appreciated!!! :surfweb:

Hope this helps:

JaysBabe:

If your son is potty trained, and you and your other half want a quiet evening at Jiko (highly recommended), book your DS into Simba's. Miss Barbara and the gang will take wonderful care of him at $11 per hour, which includes his dinner.

Hey, I wonder if Cass made it with the ENTIRE crew! I guess if we don't hear from her, she's crossed over.

That would be great but he's only 3. The AK website says the kids have to be 4. Oh well, only 10 more months to go and he'll be old enough. I guess we'll just have to go back!!!

I was thinking about her to. I hope she has a great vacation.

Do they have to be 4? Forgive me, I already forget at what age Ben potty trained! He's 7, and it seems like soooo long ago now. Sorry for the misinformation.

Anyway, not changing the subject, but I am thinking about taking a risk and cooking a Jiko recipe for Christmas dinner. Does anyone know of anything online that has the recipes for such things as the lamb and the beef short ribs? I am a brave woman! Oh, I got an idea...I could order this to go, shhhh, and not tell anyone! Ooh, is that a Malificent move or what?! LOL EVIL!

I'll ask my wife if she knows of a place to find the recipe when she gets home.

And, BTW, what time are you having dinner on Christmas Day? ;)

:cool1: They all made it!!

I spoke to Cass tonight and they made it just fine yesterday. They got a very kind customs agent in Toronto and after a few nervous moments and telling her that they were going to Disney, they let Louise board.

I had a feeling it would all work out for them.

Ahhhh..if I was only there with them . They are actually in the exact same room that we were in when we went with them a couple of years ago :sad1:

I am glad they were able to get to Disney. :) :yay:

THANKS for the update, SuAnn! We'll be there Saturday and I'll know to look for a foursome, not a twosome...whew. :thumbsup2

Thanks, koobs. What a GREAT view from your room!

Yes, I'd LOVE to see "anything in particular" :rotfl2:

The more pics the better...we're going there for the first time tomorrow!

Wow, thanks for the gorgeous photos! We haven't stayed at AKL yet (but will next month!), so aren't familiar where Room 4213 is. Which trail/savannah is it on, because that is the view I'd like to request. Thanks again and remember ... the more pictures the better, so bring them on!

I love those photos too!!

Last month I was in room 4219, 3 doors down from where koobs was! It's 4th floor (one floor up from the lobby), Kudu Trail, the 1st building off the lobby - GREAT location!!

Hey Ronald Duck (and any others who are leaving SOON!) - Have a WONDERFUL trip, enjoy the Lodge - my family will be there in a week!! And tell Cass we all said HOORAY!!! :yay: Thanks for the update SuAnne!

4213 is on the Arusha Savannah, Kudu trail. It really is a great room, not far from things and a beautiful view.

Okay, I thought I just posted this but it didn't show up. If it turns up after all my apologies for the double post.

I'm glad you're enjoying the pictures. Here are a few more.

Just send an email to: Peggy.Gentry@disney.com

You can request any recipe from Jiko and Boma. Peggy usually replies within two days. Good luck! You must be a brave woman.

Kathy

Thank you Kathy (John's Mom). I shall do exactly that, right now.

By the way, Koobs, would you be interested in taking pictures at my wedding? LOL If they come out as good as that closeup of the giraffe, you could make some money at professional photography! All kidding aside, man, those pics are awesome, especially those you snapped at dawn...is that not an awesome time to roam around AKL?!!!!

I just wanted to wish all those going to the AKL soon to have a super trip. We were at the AKL Dec. 17-24 last year. The weather wasn't very good, but the decorations and atmosphere made up for it.
