Looks like it is going to be warm for you but maybe a little rainy. December is a great time to visit :)

Are there differences? We're talking about near the elevators on either side.

Thanks!

Kudu Trail is not near the elevators - they are on the extreme other end of the lobby. Earlier this month, I had room 4219 Kudu Trail - 5 rooms down from the lobby. While I had a GREAT view of the Savannah and some animals, I was a bit too close to the big rock and the giraffes were too far off in the distance. Still, it was a fabulous room!

Many say Zebra Trail is the better one and I'm hoping to try that side on our next stay. :goodvibes

Hey RD, could you PM me the phone number? I tried the email address that was posted, but our flight leaves early Sat AM, so I don't know that they'll get back to me before we leave.
Thanks!

TiggerAllie (and others who may be interested)-

The number is 407-938-4755. Just a half-hour ago, I got a call back from Juanita, who confirmed the Sunset Safari is available for non-Concierge...but it's $215 per person instead of $150. We decided to skip it, since we're going to Jiko that night anyway. Of course, now I've just read RAVE reviews and I'm re-thinking it. Oh well...still time.

Have a safe escape from now-wintry "A-squared" (I'm a U of M Ph.D. so I'm allowed to call it that(<;)

Today we booked our stay for August 2007. :Pinkbounc As a surprise for DS we are staying our last 2 nights at AKL. We have asked for 3rd floor room and Zebra Trail Savannah viw rm. Just looking for some feedback on this request. (and I know its only a request-no guarentees)

Thanks to all of you for helping us decide on this surprise!

Jiko is my favorite at the Akl. Cant beat the filet with mac & cheese :)

YIKES!!! Did Juanita happen to mention WHY the large increase?

I guess they are giving a price break to the concierge guests who pay so much more for the room. :confused3

Wow-- I am so confused.... I just got an email from Laura at AKL IPO that says that the Wanyama Sunset Safari is only available to AKL concierge guests.

Molo xxx Safari

Thanks to contact us for your upcoming reservation to Walt Disney World.

In base of the information that you're requesting is a copy of the most current information to be book for the Jiko Wanyama Safari that guest must be staying at Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge.

Have a Nice Day!

Laura

"This Safari is exclusive for concierge guests staying here at the Animal Kingdom Lodge. "

I'm confused too. I have dealt with Sue, Don & Juanita in concierge but not a Laura, that's a new name to me.

Well, it's a fairly recent change in policy, and obviously Laura isn't "in the know", but Juanita is...so try the number early tomorrow and ask for Juanita (or Don or Sue)...or try to get through to the front desk and they can transfer you.

Oh, BTW...the price is still $150 for Concierge guests...only higher for the plebians :rotfl2:

 I have had a blast reading through this thread. It's making it really had to wait for when I leave. I'll be heading back to the AKL in 38 days (but whose counting? :teeth: ) My dh, dd and I stayed concierge in 2003 and had the most magical trip I could have even imagined. Well, since we last went we added to the family and she is now 2. With all the chaos a new child brings my oldest dd has been incredible. She is an amazing kid anyway but she's been so patient with the time that a new baby takes. So this trip is special. This is a Madie/Mommy trip. Just the two of us. We will be spending a week at the AKL (non-concierge this time :guilty: ) and I cannot wait.

I just wanted to jump in and introduce myself. So "Hi!"

BensMom, thanks for the awesome photo! It's beautiful!!!!!

Here are a few pics I look of the AKL back in October:

The empty, yet beautiful savannah-as seen from the rock:

Taken from the bridge in the lobby:

I like the reflection of the big tree on this one:

I LOVED the AKL light fixtures-I took a picture of all the different ones. Here are the ones by the elevator:

I have a TON more of the lodge...but I won't hog up all the space.
