Koobs! Oh, how exciting! What a great time to stay at AKL! If you have a craving to do laundry, there are washers and dryers there, right across from Simba's! Check back on this thread, because I may have a surprise for you and all the rest of the crew...if I can figure out how to upload pics! (I guess I just gave the surprise away).

Koobs, I'm so excited for you, have a fun drive today and great flight tomorrow, you will love AKL :)

What a perfect place to celebrate huh?! We'll be there from 1/31 to 2/4.

Can I call up the reservations line and ask that they add our celebrations to our reservation. I wanted to request a king bed too. Can I do that through the reservations line?

Ronald Duck and all those asking about the Sunset Safari/Jiko dinner...I was going to do this for my fiance on his birthday. I talked with Steve, the manager for Jiko, etc., and he said just book it. Steve knows we live locally and weren't staying at the resort (no concierge), so I think it may be truth versus rumor!
If I was interested in trying to do this as a non-concierge guest, who would I contact to find out if it was available? (and as a Disney, but non-AKL guest, who would I contact?)

What a cool surprise would that be for my DP on our trip next week...

Is it still Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays?

Hmmm...I would try guest services. I believe this is where Steve directed me when I first inquired. Steve is the food/beverage manager for Jiko, and I have seen him during the day out near the pool bar (he may even be the manager for the whole lodge). He may be able to help you. The other food managers are Kim and Jeremy. You will be able to get help through one of these resources. But I would start with guest services to the right of the check-in line.

Better yet, call AKL directly. Obviously, you want this booked BEFORE you get there (duh, sorry, I should have realized).

Is there a phone number I could call before I got there? (Like, if I called the main hotel number, could they transfer me to the guest services desk?) Thanks so much!

Ok, I give up. I snuck out to AKL this morning, in the pouring rain, got a pic of THE Tree. I know I am a day late and a dollar short, but I get home, download the darned pic, follow the directions to upload a pic into Disboards, and it keeps timing out. I can't get past the upload. Help, help! Cass, can you help me?

Thank you Cass, That Santa always knows how to deliver the BEST gifts! I can actually start a countdown now.... YAY

22days til we see Santa Mickey...just in time for the last MVMCP!

Hi Ben's Mom, I'm not sure why it is timing out on you. I don't use the DIS for hosting, I use photobucket.com or my own site casshew.com. I would LOVE to see the tree... maybe you could email it to me and I could post it? or try to register at photo bucket and see if you can host there.

Was the hotel looking nice? are they ready for me??? :cool1:

Yep! When we went last month the main reservations line put "non-smoking" "king sized bed" and "honeymoon couple" on our ressie. I did everything via the main number except ADR's and our Segway tour. We got our non-smoking, king sized bed room and were presented with Just Married buttons upon check-in, so I know they pay attention to that. :thumbsup2

Hey, two posts in a row by me...five hours apart! Is everyone else at AKL? ;)

This week's AllEars Newsletter has a guest claiming that as a NON-Concierge guest, she and her husband were able to book the Sunset Safari. Since DW and I are not planning Concierge next month but would love to do the Safari, I like to determine if this is true!

We were just on this tour the beginning of the month and the guy at the concierge desk said that they had just opened it up to guests of the resort a few weeks before that and the concierge desk no longer had anything to do with it, so I would guess that means you only have to stay at the resort, and maybe you need to book with dining. The Sunrise is still concierge only.
