You must be both proud and relieved to have your son home! What a happy day! My Mom had 3 sons in Vietnam at the same time and she said she aged during that time from worry!

Here's to a safe trip home!! Please tell him "thank you " for all he has done for our country!!

John's Mom, great news! Now that I have a son, although only 7, I think about how you must have felt! Yes, what a holiday season you will have!

By the way, unofficial AKL Christmas tree report: None as of Friday evening...I'll keep checking!

No Christmas Tree as of Sunday...hope it is soon. The gingerbread house is up at GF.

Kathy that is awesome news. As I said my best friends son will be home this week too. I am so happy for you and your family. Where is he stationed at? Are you going to see him. My friend said the ceremony at Ft. Campbell is very nice. Congrats!!!!

We leave for AKL on Saturday for a short two night stay before our cruise. I have requested Arusha Savannah, but am considering changing it. I'm worried that I'll be over the big rock and not over the savannah. Plus, we had Uzima last time and liked it. Any thoughts? We like low floors, so maybe we could just request that.

We have dinner reservations that night at Boma, but my Mom doesn't like Boma, so I'm not sure we'll eat there. We may just end up getting something at Mara.

Have a great stay & cruise, DisTeach... tell your Mom to give Boma another chance, they have such nice salads and soups etc...

When my son returned to Germany from Iraq in September, the Army said that he could not return home until Jan. 5, 2007; they couldn't get the paperwork done until then. John's tour of duty was up in June. If he stayed in Germany until Jan. 5, they would pay him for any unused leave. At first they even refused to pay for his flight home.

Finally the Army changed their mind. John is flying into the Philadelphia Airport on Wednesday (about an hour's drive from Delaware). He is coming home for good.

Thanks for all the well wishes.

Kathy

Just curious if any would know this, I was looking to stay at AKL I went on the web site and it gave me 2 different prices one for a Deluxe Savanah View and one for just a Savanah View. Does anyone know the difference for these rooms. The description on the web is exactly the same just the price is different.

The deluxe savanna rooms are just slightly larger - like 60 - 80 sq feet, hardly noticible. They are on the higher floors.
