The view from the 6th floor savannah rooms is partly obscured. That is probably why you won't find many pictures taken from these rooms.

Johnsmom - How obscured is the view Juanita in IPO told me it was not that bad just an overhang on the roof???

That's what I heard too... when you look down at the Savanna you have to look over the roof of the lower lobby area (where the check in counters are) and of course you are seeing the sunset savanna, not the arusha. I am going to AKL Concierge at Christmas, and never stayed on 6 (stayed twice on 5 zebra & kudu) I was *thinking* of requesting 6 to check it out.

I guess I said that wrong. The roof on your balcony hangs down. I was not told you had to look over anything such as the lobby area. That doesnt sound right to me according to the map of the resort.

Look on this little map.. I put a yellow stripe where the savanna view 6th floor rooms are and some green squigglies on the roof area they look over. See if what I said makes sense now.

Just wanted to say a quick "Thanks" to everyone on the thread. We leave in 6 days for a splot stay at WL and AKL. I originally had a standard room booked at AKL, but chickened out on possible pixie dust and upgraded us to pool view - figured that was better than a possible parking lot view.

I'll be sure to take lots of pics that I'll post as soon as we get back.

I have never stayed on the 6th floor. I'm only repeating what I have read on the boards and what the concierge staff told me.

Hey Cass and Kathy. I see what you mean now. I just assumed the rooms went to the end of that area. Never assume. A lesson to be learned. Juanita just said to me that the thatched roof hangs over and that is what obscured the view. I guess I will find out shortly what it looks like and I will take pictures for everyone. Hopefully it wont be to bad. Were there alot of complaints about the view??

What makes you think you will be on 6? most often people are on 5, I haven't heard any complaints - I just really want to check it out. Nosey I guess

...you will only be put on the 6th floor if you are staying concierge....

kimmar, I know that I've stayed concierge twice - but both times I was on 5.

So I wondered what made IWISH think that she would be on 6 for sure? chances are she will be on 5 as well.

...me too (stayed concierge and was put on 5)...usually if a specific request is put to be on 6, guests stay on 5...
