this is honestly one of the nicest photo's I've seen of AKL. Thanks for sharing.

...I agree, and boy, I've seen LOTS......now do you know why I insisted that Jeff post his pix on this thread....??!?!:rolleyes1

Hey, what can you vets tell me about the kids buffet choices at Boma? My child is kinda picky. Also, is it okay for an adult to eat off the kids stuff?

...the way that Boma is set up is that there are several 'stations' from which you can choose different types of food. The first one at the far end is more of a 'carving station, followed by your 'meat' entrees (:scratchin does this even SOUND right??). After that, comes the "children's items", including spaghetti, macaroni and cheese, chicken fingers, etc. This station is open to ANYBODY, young or old. It's followed by several choices of soups (MY personal fave is the carrot ginger soup - YUMMY!!!), another station for salads, another one containing assorted potatoes and veggies, a 'bread' station, and finally, the only one that counts in MY book, the DESSERTS, with their world-renown ZEBRA DOMES.....

AKL bus stops are typically close to the parks. I think the one at AK is the furthest walk you will have and it is still a short one.

In the past, they never shared but looking at www.thelaughingplace.com, it looks like they sometimes share with Saratoga Springs for the water parks.

...if they DO share with SS, it is a MOST RECENT development, because AK never shared ANY buses with any other resort. Personally, I can't see them sharing with SS, since SS is WA-A-A-AY over on the opposite end of Disney property.....

Hi all!

This is my first post on this thread and I am so excited to stay at AKL! We are going 8/18-8/26 and have a savannah view bunk bed room. This is our first stay at a Deluxe, stayed at POFQ and SSR.

Thanks for all the pics!

Denise

...JAMBO and :welcome: to our humble home...if you have any questions or concerns, you are more-than-welcome to post them here....:teeth:

Hi everyone. DW and I are visiting the AKL for one night only in September. I have a few questions. Thank you for your help ahead of time.

Are their public animal viewing areas where you can see ostrich even if you do not have a savannah view onto the ostrich savannah. The reason I am asking is my DW just told me she loves ostriches (who knew). It looks to me that the public viewing areas all look onto the main savannah. Is this right?

We would like to try the night vision one night. On this board it has been listed that that activity starts at 9pm and also 8pm. Does this vary by season because of sunset?

Can you borrow binoculars from the resort?

We plan to do Jiko for dinner and Boma for breakfast. Does this sound good? Are we really missing out by not doing Boma for dinner?

Is the coffee at Boma Nescafe or higher quality?

I have also read that there is direct bus transportation from AKL to DTD. Is this current information?

Whew thats enough questioning for one post I think.

...the Sunset savannah does have several ostriches located there, so if you walk down that corridor (to your left as you enter the lobby) you will have a good chance of seeing them. You can take a bus from AKL to ANY location (other than another resort) on property. As for the coffee question, if you have ressies at Boma, I highly recommend ording a pressed pot of coffee...it is absolutely YUMMY! (if you are a real coffee aficionado!)

Thanks all - I never thought I would say this because the Wilderness Lodge has always been my run-away far-and-away favorite WDW Resort but now I have to say AKL is right there with it. I guess that means that I have two favortes now - which is really not a bad thing. :thumbsup2

Here are a few more from our stay. (Hopefully not too many for one post  )

Thanks for the warm welcome! I am just soaking in all the information on this thread.

I was alittle worried about spending the money on the AKL, usually we don;t spend much time in our room, but since this is our 4th trip with kids, i am hoping that staying at AKL will make me slow down my commando touring ways!

Thanks - someone else asked that too - I don't mind at all. The only reason to take pictures is for people to enjoy. :)

Thank you very much for this info! I think I am going to have to rearrange my ADR plans to include Boma. It sounds like there is enough variety to keep us all happy!!

On another note... I mentioned a few posts back that I requested a room near the elevators because of a bad knee. The response was to request a room near the lobby, right? What about wording a request so that we are also conveniently on Zebra Trail?

I eat at Boma EVERY WDW trip!!! I would like to suggest that, if possible, you take the culinary tour (3:45 or 4 p.m.) the day prior or the day of your ADR to Boma. You will get so much useful information (plus get to see all the foods you will soon be consuming!) - it will enrich your first experience there. :cloud9:

As for your room request, here's what I requested: non-smoking, Zebra Trail, close to lobby. And that's exactly what I got! On the 3rd floor (lobby level) in the first building on Zebra Trail! :thumbsup2 (couldn't have been more convenient!)

Awesome pictures Gdad!! We've never been to AKL before, it looks beautiful. What kind of room is that in your pictures? I see it has bunk-beds (cool!) and is that a queen or king bed? TIA!!

Thanks. We had a pool view room - it had the bunk beds and a queen size. We were on the 1st floor in the last room on the end next to the fitness center and door to the pool - #1030 I think. We liked the room a lot.

....if you make ressies here and it turns out that a member from your family is NOT really happy with what is being served at the buffet, you can politely ask your server to 'special order' an item and the chefs will be more than happy to accomdate you...I suppose this kinda defeats the purpose of making ressies there in the FIRST place, but there usually is SOMETHING for averyone to enjoy at BOMA - just remember that you have the option to special-order a meal....

...yes - this way you will have quick access to pool, restaurants, lobby, and Zawadi Marketplace....

...I know EXACTLY where your room was....awesome location! (not too far from the childrens' playground or 'adult' playground [hot tub :teeth: ], either!)

...NO! Waddaya think this is - a thread where you are allowed to post ONLY ONE PIC A DAY??!?!?! [ :rolleyes1 ]

Gdad,
What waterproofing do you use for your camera?
I'm assuming it's in a housing, not just a cheapy disposable?

I scuba dive and am looking for a new digital + housing, so am curious....

Thanks for the input guys. I am going to call tonight for my check on concierge level openings. I will be sure & change my requests! Zebra Trail, close to lobby!
