Did AKL stop delivering a morning newspaper outside your door each morning? I loved taking the newspaper and going to the hot tub each morning!

plutospup= You still get a USA Today Monday thru Friday...but I also like to get an Orlando Sentinel every morning (the Weather pages have been souvenirs of mine since our first visit!).

Ronald Duck,
We had room 1020 in 2004 and preferred this location to the Arusha savana view we had the year before.
As you can imagine, I peeked into that room many times during our visit:rotfl:

Those rooms are so convenient to everything (including the animals), I didn't miss a Savanna View one bit!

We're back from a wonderful stay at AKL!! :thumbsup2

The Christmas Eve festivities were wonderful! The 3:45 pm Tree Lighting Ceremony was awesome. The CM's paraded through the lobby in their traditional dress, singing an African Christmas song. Then several of the CM's told about some of the traditions unique to their Region of Africa. We all sang Christmas Carols, then counted down to the tree lighting. It was truly beautiful. :cloud9:

Santa Claus was there for pictures, as were the characters: Mickey & Minnie, then when they would take a 'break' - Pluto, Goofy & Timon! :woohoo: Rachel, my 22 year old, asked Santa for a new car! :rotfl2:

By the way, Ronald Duck, the weather on Christmas Day was horrible (I thought you were working on that? :rolleyes1 ) - but it didn't dampen anyone's spirits. We spent the stormy day at Epcot and, for the most part, people were on their best behavior!! :flower3:

Thanks RDuck for the newspaper info!

Glad to hear everyone had a great Holiday at AKL. The Christmas Eve tree lighting, and carol sing sounds wonderful!

I thought we might hear from you about that! I was "watching" on the live Dolphin Weather Cam and "saw" when the rain hit. WOW! Was there much lightning and wind? Really glad it didn't ruin the day (it's hard to have a day ruined at Disney, isn't it?)

I would have loved to have seen that. Was there a lot of hotel guests watching the ceremonies and singing along?

Welcome back, I'm so glad you had a great time at AKL :cloud9:

Hey there, Cass! Your trip report is fab...really wonderful pics in the latest installment!

It wasn't over-crowded, but there was a nice sized crowd there and most everyone was singing!! :cloud9: They handed out a "program" with the words to the songs! Santa and the characters were there until 9 or 9:30 so everyone got the chance to visit!

Ronald Duck, for all the horrible weather moving through Central Florida, WDW was spared. The rain was torrential at times, but always fell straight to the ground; winds were minimal. (phew!) There were 2 pretty loud, long rumbles of thunder but that was it (at least at Epcot!). Yep, it would take much more than heavy rain showers to ruin a day at WDW!! :woohoo:

It so cool that the characters were there, did characters go to all the hotels on Christmas Eve?

I reminds me of when they did away with EMH and had the Character Caravan that visited all the hotels, I actually preferred that to EMH.

I would like to think they had Santa & characters at each resort. I'm sure each resort had its own tree lighting ceremony. Wouldn't be Christmas without it, right?! I did notice GF had the same cookies and punch as AKL - plus they had the Roasted Chestnuts! ;)

....:badpc: ARGHH!!!!! This board is not working properly......!!!!!

You are getting grumpy Kimmar :lmao:

You need to put a countdown to Disney in your siggy and start planning a trip :goodvibes

It's testing our patience and tenacity for sure!! :rotfl2:

Picture uploading was all messed up too.... it took FOREVER to get the photos in for my trip report. And I can't get the quick reply or multi quote buttons to work. :confused3

Somebody, help! :sad2:

OMG! Those are the cutest icons EVER! Sorry I missed them before, it was posted while we were gone.
RD and Cass? Would either of you mind if I used your overhead pic of AKL (RD) and cattle pic and the curtain (Cass) for my scrapbook page I'm doing on this trip? I'd never dream of using unless I asked. ;) I thought I was taking enough pix but of course didn't think of EVERYTHING and now think of things I wished I had taken. I even looked at the elevator doors and though, should I take a picture of those giraffes? No worries, it's only for my enjoyment though I'll post the pages when done if anyone wants to see. It'll be months I'm sure. My scrapbook is pretty elaborate.
