Hey all you AKL lovers- anybody gone at Christmastime before??

We want to bring a small tree and minor decorations to keep in our room (not on our balcony)- will they be OK with that? I know they have some rules about balloons and straws due to the animals and want to make sure this is A-OK

Lots of people bring trees and/or decorations, it's no problem at all. Decorating the door is fun too!

Hey ppony-I'm going to be at AKL from 12/14-12/21 (not concierge this time though... ) but DD 12 and I will be wearing the green lanyards...(probably not DH and DS 4 though...

that's 3 of us going to be there during that time period-anyone else?

HEY PPP! It might not be conc. BUT you get to stay there longer than us. I'm jealous! Ever since I wrapped my head around being able to stay there I've been eating up everything you guys have been saying. Not adding because of course, I now nothing! LOL But I WILL!!! SOON! I think I'll put one of those green Mickey heads from HD with my "ppony" name on it and wear that. I'm also going to do those Mickey tie-dye shirts (if that works out for me!) and do mine in the lime green head. I'll be sure to wear it on the 15th, 16th or 17th for sure. Lime green Mickey head t-shirt and lanyard. If you guys are around, you'll NOT be able to miss me!

Howdy all,

We booked a standard room at AKL thru Expedia. I understand that there may be a slight chance to be upgraded. If it happens, great, if not, we're still very lucky to be there.

I was thinking, that I may have reduced my chances by booking thru Expedia instead of CRO. Has anyone booked thru Expedia and been upgraded?

...it truly is the 'luck of the draw' when it comes to upgrades....if they are booked solid, no rooms will be available, but, typically, AKL tries to upgrade as much as possible, because of the very 'nature' [no pun intended! ] of this particular resort....

...frunch is an 'African' fruit juice made from various fruits, including orange, papaya, and mango, with a bit of honey added...it was really delicious!

Hey ppony-you are only at the AKL starting on the 14th but you posted earlier that you are getting to WDW on the 8th... (nothing gets past me re Disney stays... ) Lucky you at WDW from the 8th-18th -11 days -sweet...

Cass -where are you getting all of these photos with the animals looking straight on the camera-are you bribing them with Zebra Domes... (Hey... there's cheesecake and cappucino in the Concierge Lounge... ...based on the amount of coffee I drink-that might have made up the price difference right there.... )

Based on what we have at this point-there are going to be at least four of us under the AKL roof at one time

Based on that AKL good vibes (good mojo) should be at their prime on about the 17th ....

Hi wallyb! I've been thinking about you and wondering how your trip went, and decorations up yet at AKL? how as the bus service & parks? Did you receive any dreams?

No dreams -
But we did get to see a sneak preview of
Nemo the musical- it's great.
And our room 5501 was so great too.
The parks were all decked out for the holidays and some of the hotels -
but not AKL when we were there.
We had a car - so we only used the bus once.

5501 that is a bit of a walk for my taste... but convenient to the pool elevators. You were in concierge, right? how were the offerings/staff? You did the sunset safari right?

Just wondered if someone could help with the new "bunk bed" situation - We were there last year and had bunk beds, but now I see there are new "bunk bed" savannah & pool views but no standards. Are the bunk beds still available in standard view? We just returned today from our trip to CSR where we discovered 2 things: 1. we are not "resort" people; we are "hotel" people and 2. our family of four cannot sleep in two double beds!!

Since AKL rooms seem to be in high demand for 2007, I wanted to go ahead and book now. After reading thru a BUNCH of pages (this is a really busy thread - fun!) I thought someone on here might know for sure.
