No, they are taking 5 and 6 and apparently the concierge lounge will become a DVC lounge. The new concierge lounge will be somewhere on 4.

I am glad I am going to AKL in a few weeks, I have a feeling this will be my last trip there for a long, long time. I'm not thrilled about the changes.

Just wanted to say "Happy Thanksgiving" to my fellow Animal Kingdom Lodge Lovers. Anyone going to the AKL in the near future, have a super trip. I'll be patiently waiting for all those trip reports and pictures.

Looks like you can't reserve a deluxe room at AKL after May 26 (perhaps up through Mem. Day wknd)... Non-suite concierge is also hard to find after this date.
I wonder if this is when they are planning on starting DVC construction in earnest?

I finally filled out the postcard survey I got after my AKL stay--it is very thorough, with lots of places for specific comments. Near the end they ask you if you would stay at AKL again. In the comments section, I said that I probably would not for a while because of the DVC construction and the loss of the deluxe/concierge rooms/lounge. I figure they'll never know how we feel unless we tell them.

I noticed that there are no more deluxe rooms because of the DVC conversion.
I checked the WDW website to confirm this. WE are booked in a deluxe concierge room for Oct 2007 but if they are not going to be there what happens to our reservation? I called WDTC and he AKL nobody seems to know the answer.

Hey ppony-you are only at the AKL starting on the 14th but you posted earlier that you are getting to WDW on the 8th... (nothing gets past me re Disney stays... ) Lucky you at WDW from the 8th-18th -11 days -sweet...

I guess you've gone under the knife by now. Mym best wieshes for a speedy recovery as well. My mom stayed with us both times she had her's done (each knee was seperate) because everything here is on the same floor for her and she didn't NEED to do stairs to get anywhere though you ahve to do them eventually. I've seen what you will go through and I'm senidng all my VERY best wishes your way! Teh goodnews is my mom was up to going to WDW about 6-9 ,months after she ahd her last surgery and she got around better thanmy hubby and did I swear!
And tahnks for the description of the mist drink. I'm ALL about sweet delicious! If you saw me in eprson yuo'd know!

ppony-that's still pretty awesome to be at WDW for that length of time ending up at the AKL-that length of stay definately calls for a trip report... (btw every 3 years or so is still pretty cool--its probably just enough time for there to be some significant changes... )

Oh no! The pressure is on! And I am a LOUSEY typist! With a capital "L"!!!! I've never written on before. My friend enjoy ribbing me about it as the type-os I leave are often hilarious. Hey, I don't mind! Any way I can make people laugh, even if it is AT me it's good!
Yeah, I'd say that I certainly can't ever comment about things changing becuase to me, they always do so it's something I'm used to seeing. I enjoy seeing it... though that doesn't mean though that if I could, I wouldn't get my rump there annually if I could! Still, I'd like to go ever 2 years? That isn't too much to ask right?!?!?

Just weeks to go! For us, this trip is a total surprise for our DS of 6 but it ALMOST got revealed today by his choir instructor that had to explain to him why he asn't getting a part in the Christmas show. I didn't anticipate that one. She said he wouldn't be there for it but thankfully she didn't say WHY. He came home and asked why he wasn't going to be there and LORD, I'm not good at lying on the fly but hubby came to back me up on that. He's better at it. HMMM, is that a good thing?!?!?! He approved me saying that BTW. Glad he has a good sense of humor!

I started stumbling and said we were traveling to visit some family and he asked who and I stumbled again (I told you I was a lousey liar ) and hubby came in and said, "It's okay, you can tell him." To which my eyes went WIDE and he kept going with "we're visting mommy's aunt and uncle". NO biggie as they are just across town but at 6 years old, he might have bought it for now. He only NEEDS to buy it for 2 more weeks. he dropped it for now anyway!
