Resort Thread Jambo! Disney's ANIMAL KINGDOM LODGE

Hi! Can anyone please tell me where I could find a photo of the current (April 2017) activities guide? The one that shows the outdoor movie schedule, pool games, etc.? Thanks
I just saw one myself. Let me think on it and re-locate it. I'll post back once I find it.

I checked into AKL yesterday and this trip was booked about 3 weeks ago and had only standard view room available under AP discounts. My request was close to lobby and higher floor. I got to AKL 7am and they actually had my room ready when I checked-in to drop my luggage off before we head to a park. I got exactly what I asked for... 4th floor near lobby in Ostrich trail. It was few steps in from the lobby facing the handicap parking lot. It was very quiet although I could see all the lobby activities. However, at night was a different story. Every 30~40 minutes, I heard big cart rolling sound outside. I could not sleep. I finally gave up sleeping after 5am, went down to the lobby to see if they could move us to different room. I knew that the chances were really slim since it is peak of spring break (week leading to Easter). CM immediately checked her system to see what she could find and she said that there's is a room available but it's further down from the lobby but I should have a view of Savanna and therefore, quiet at night. She said that they cannot reveal the room number until I am ready to move (everything out of the previous room). I took on the offer thinking that I desperately need sleep than convenience of being close to the lobby. I am in a new room right now and perfect view of Uzima Savanna. It's further down from the lobby than previous room but Mara and Pool is just down the elevator. I think it's a standard view b/c there's animal shelter built right below of the window but we could perfectly view the savanna. We are in a room close to Simba's clubhouse (which is in 1st floor) and we are on 3rd floor.

I hope this helps some people who are planning for their stay at AKL.
It sounds like you are in the area where we were last time, which was PERFECT. We were in 3469. Loved everything about it - close to lobby, close to mara/pool/laundry, gorgeous view. Enjoy, and jambo!

PS You got a "free upgrade" by the way. That's a savanna view category room ;)

Hi! We're staying 8/22 - 24, (split stay Yacht - AKL - Contemporary) in a One Bedroom Villa Standard View. Can someone direct me to where I would find pictures of this, and what section of AKL it would be in?

We're so excited! We've eaten at Boma twice and enjoyed walking around outside afterwards and can't believe we'll actually be staying for a bit!

Thanks!

I'm so excited for you! AKL is my favorite resort on property, can't wait for you to experience it :)

Thanks Somnia!!!! We are both looking forward to it. How have you found the bus service to the parks? Any tips/advice is greatly appreciated.

I've never had a problem with the bus service at AKL. Magic Kingdom is a bit of a ride compared to the others, but just take that into account and you'll be fine!

If you want to get between Jambo and Kidani make sure to take the free van transportation, we didn't know about it the first time we went over lol

If you want to relax at the resort one night, I highly recommend Victoria Falls right above Boma. The drinks are great and the food I had while I was there was also great, though I've heard they've increased the menu you can get while there. Sanaa's lounge is also amazing and very quiet :)

That 'animal shelter' is actually a 'people pen.' They are there in case an evacuation is needed to keep the animals and people separate.

I believe the 'people pen' view rooms were reclassified to standard view after numerous complaints by people who paid savanna view prices and didn't want to look at a patch of dirt surrounded by a fence in addition of the savanna.
Great to move from no view to having a balcony where you can watch the animals, no matter what the resort classifies it as!

I thought this might be one of those rooms people complained about view so it's standard view with part of savanna viewing. It's gotta be rare in the resort since I've walked most of the trails and haven't seen something like this. We love the room, despite little longer walk from the lobby. It's my first time staying at standard view at AKL and I've seen one end to the other so extreme.

That's totally right about the "people pen". I missed that part of the post. Requesting rooms like that is exactly how one can get a savanna view at a standard rate (which we are attempting this time!)

We are considering AKL for our next trip. Quite the while away yet but I'm so excited at the thought. Regarding the bunk bed rooms - are there many of them? How likely are you to get one if you book a standard room with no view? I really DON'T want us to get one - We'll be 3 adults and a child. Are they generally assigned to those with two children, or those who request them? Would really like to avoid, but our budget only reaches to a standard room.

We are about ready to submit our rental request for a 1 bedroom DVC at Jambo. We have stayed in a standard 1 bedroom DVC at Jambo twice before, but due to the recent per point price increases, we are considering taking our chances on a value 1 bedroom. I understand there is a 20% chance of receiving a parking lot view. When I google mapped the building, it looks like there is heavy tree planting along those rooms. For anyone who has stayed in a parking lot view 1 bedroom DVC unit before, do the trees provide a decent bufffer between the balconies and the parking lot? Or is the view very much cars and concrete? We have had two outstanding standard view locations on our previous trips so we are a little bit view spoiled, but if the trees create a thick buffer, we might be fine with this view.

Thanks so much for any help!

All booked for next year :-)

15th September for 21 nights with free dining plan :-)

Standard view room due to length of stay, would love to be on kudu trail with a people pen view but just happy to be there whatever room I'm in. Just don't want one near bus stops as I'm a light sleeper
