Jambo and Kidani separate booking windows??

Called to book a trip next Aug. because I got wait listed online (was hoping if I called they might tell me something different) and was told that I couldn't book at Kidani because it wasn't my home resort. We bought into AKV in 2009. I didn't think Jambo and Kidani were considered separate "homes". I know you have to reserve your room either or, but I didn't think I'd have to wait until 7 months to book Kidani. Has this happened to anyone else? Also, we wanted to stay in a two bedroom value room, (at Jambo) but got wait listed. I tried exactly at 11 months. What do you think the chances are of it opening up? I ended up booking a standard room (at Jambo because they wouldn't let me at Kidani) for less days just to make sure we had something, but we'd only be able to go for 4 days instead of 6, due to the increase in points per night, so I'm bummed. Any advice or comments would be appreciated! Thanks!

You obviously got a rep who did not know that AKL Jambo and Kidani are one DVC resort including when it comes to booking 11 months out and you should call back and get someone else to reserve Kidani. Because of low number, Values can sometimes either disappear very fast (within minutes) once the 11 month window opens at 8 a.m. online or even before 11 months out by others reserving with start dates just before yours. One can never predict the waitlist but when one gets on it near 11 months out, many have reported success.

Also, at least for the next week or so, you should keep checking daily for the value reservation because there may be one or more members "walking" a reservation, i.e., they really want a start date later than yours but they got in earlier and reserved and now are dropping start days and adding end days daily until they get what they actually want, and thus the time you want might open during the next week.

Nope, in fact my deed is for Kidani and I booked my most recent trip right at 11 months @ Jambo.

Wow - that was a very poorly trained CM that you got! As was mentioned you can book either of the AKV buildings at 11 months and you can cancel your Jambo and rebook the Kidani online if you wish.

I also agree to check the Value online to see if it opens up in the next week. The biggest issue is that Jambo is all lock-offs so it requires both a value studio and a value 1BR to be open in order to get the 2BR. Still, we have gotten a value 2BR in the past via the waitlist.

Do you have to have a 2BR? 2 standard studios would be less than the 2BR value.

Good luck!

To get picky, your deed says 'Unit __ of Disney's Animal Kingdom Villas'. No where on the deed do they specifically state if it's Jambo House or Kidani Village, the only way to find that is by the Unit # and Condo Drawings.

Actually, that is mostly true, but it isn't entirely true.

AKV is the only DVC resort that has two sets of Master Contract Numbers. If a new Member buys at AKV and is issued points from a Residential Unit located at Jambo House, then their Master Contract Number will start with the number 8. If a new Member is issued points from a Unit located at Kidani Village, then their Master Contract Number will start with the number 9.

AKV Residential Units 1 through 56 are located at Jambo House. If a Member's initial set of points was from one of these Units, they will have a Master Contract Number such as 8001234.000. Residential Units 57A through 120C are located at Kidani Village. An initial Master Contract from one of these Units will have a number such as 9001234.000.

The Master Contract Number is a form of membership/control number and does not affect membership rights and privileges. That number will stay with the Member as long as they belong in DVC. If a Member adds on another DVC deed, the new deed will be numbered with the same Master Contract Number and with a new suffix, like .001. Even if the member adds on at a different resort and then sells the original deed that was numbered .000, the Member's Master Contract Number does not change.

:rolleyes1And the only reason I noticed was because when the closing documents arrived for our resale purchase I was a bit disappointed that it was technically Kidani since we prefer Jambo.
