Jamaica Not Allowing 90 Day Exempt Guests

My family & I got off the Fantasy this morning after a mostly fabulous week. We found out the morning we docked in Jamaica that anyone who had the 90 day recovery status would not be allowed off the ship. This was not Disney's fault, but the Jamaican government. Apparently they made the decision that morning and Disney tried to fight it.

We had booked an excursion and met in the Walt Disney Theater at 7:30. The entertainment cast members were saying they were waiting for clearance before we could disembark. They told jokes, played instruments, put on a fashion show and did whatever they could to keep a theater full of people entertained for close to 3 hours. Then they started calling names off a list to go to the Buena Vista Theater, only to have the Assistant Cruise Director tell us we couldn't get off the ship. It was only the people who were actually on the 90 day list who couldn't get off, the rest of the party could if they chose to. DH & I were both 90 day recovered, and DS is a minor, so he couldn't go alone.

We were fully refunded the amount of the excursion and given $200 per stateroom OBC. Disney did what they could for an extremely unfortunate situation.

I don't know what the upcoming itineraries look like, but if you have Jamaica as a port, be aware and flexible.

That's a real bummer. Sorry that happened. It's a brave new world with cruising, and really international travel in general, with governments changing rules on the fly. Thanks for letting people know. I know it's been speculated, but I don't recall anyone specifically saying what happened to them.

I wonder if for the Jamaica problem could a person be tested and still admitted on the cruise if positive(as expected). And if negative be admitted into Jamaica.

Just the reality of covid today. Not every nation is comfortable as the U.S. in reopening.

Can anyone off the Fantasy today confirm if there were any issues with the 90 day recovery letter at the ports?

I don’t understand what Jamaica’s issue is with 90 day IF you are fully Vaxxed. ?? Couldn’t they just require an additional test prior to deboarding?
Correct me if I’m wrong but the 90 day people only differ in the fact that they don’t have to test at embarkation, correct? They are still required to be fully Vaxxed right?

My guess is that DCL wouldn’t want to test them then because then if someone tested positive would they quarantine anyone positive and their close contacts or would they continue to honor the 90 day recovered? It gets too messy.

You don't have to understand Jamaica's rule. It is theirs, and you won't win arguing it with them, ya know?
