For those of you coming south , the new 9A fly over is now open!!!! So the construction right after the airport should be easing up soon. 9A is a great way to go around Jacksonville and is usually less busy than 295. Takes about the same amount of time and the Dames Point Bridge is pretty high but does give you a nice view of downtown on a clear day. Drops you back on 95 at the same spot 295 does (it actually completes the outer loop). i suggest you give it a try

Thanks for the info. We've always gone straight through downtown but I was thinking we'd try to go around this next trip.

I'll be looking for 9A in January.

We always take 9A - it's 10 miles shorter than I-295 and much prettier.

Once you try it you'll never go back to 295!

Going thru town even if you live here is mayhem. Now that the flyover is done the ride will be great. I live near Butler and 9A and I use it to just about go everywhere.

I really don’t like driving over the Buchman!!! I bounce around like a loose super bouncy ball!!! I would much rather drive through down town. After the span is done and you are driving on the south side flat part of the bridge the spacing between the joints is just right to bounce like crazy.
