I'm upstate right now but DH had some difficulty digging out our driveway in Long Island.

You'll love it!!! It's truly a magical vacation during that time of the year.

Sorry I haven't been updating guys but I'm not home. I'm going back home today but then I have my cuz (who just came home from Afghanistan) coming to visit so I won't get anything done on here until next year!! I plan on cooking him all of his Puerto Rican favorites (pernil, arroz con gandules, arroz con dulce, coquito, flan, etc) so I'll be busy in the kitchen the next few days!!! I'm happy to fatten him up after him being away for a year! Since DH will be working NYE :sad1:(I wish I could surprise him in Times Square but it's always a madhouse), I'm happy I won't be alone in the house that day b/c DS, DD, cuz and his DD and DF will be with me.

Have a Happy, Healthy, Blessed and Prosperous New Year!!!!!

:flower3:

subscribing! Great report! We always go in January and have to pack for 2 seasons as well, we figure the MORE winter clothing we bring, the less we will need it (wishful thinking). Regardless, Disney is wonderful in the warm or cold. Looking forward to the rest of your report!

Ugh, if only we didn't need our winter clothes there! What happened to the Sunshine State:confused3???

We just booked a trip "home" for June. I think DH doesn't ever want to be cold like that again!:rotfl: More on that whenever I get around to finishing this TR!!;):lmao:

Happy New Year everyone!!!!

Hmmmm, where was I? Oh yeah! We had just had some really yummy snacks at Sleepy Hollow we headed back to Adventureland to do the Pirate Parade and that was fun. The kids really enjoyed it.

Side note: If you see Edy's Peppermint ice cream please let me know what store it was at. I saw it two weeks ago and didn't get it and I'm afraid the Limited Edition flavors are gone!:sad1: It was so good in the ice cream sandwiches at Sleepy Hollow.

Now we were headed into Toontown to go and scare the heck out of Tink! There are easier ways to get from Sleepy Hollow to Toontown but for some reason, we took the long way that day. I know we took a few Photopass pics in the garden by the castle and then headed over on the bridge to Tomorrowland and guess who we saw?? Tracy and Bill (MrsKSomeday)!!!

I was so excited, I think I acted like I saw a celebrity!! LOL I ran over and said, I know you from the Disboards and she laughed! I introduced her to my family and Tracy told us how she was at the D23 party and they had just left the castle. She was nice enough to show us the pictures from Cinderella's Suite. The kids thought it was so cool that they were there. We spoke about our pets and our trips and before we headed our separate ways I grabbed the opportunity to take a picture together:

After our unexpected meet, we headed off to find Tink! The line said 30 minutes and I think it was pretty accurate. It's weird because the Princess line said 15 minutes but the lines looked pretty even. I think the queuing is shorter on the Princess side. Anyway, the CM explained how we were going to get shorter during our trip into Pixie Hollow and my family took this as an opportunity to shriek "I'm shrinking, I'm shrinking" as if they were Wicked Witches of the West:lmao:. When it was our turn to be let in the kids started to giggle because of what happened last time they went to visit Tink:rolleyes1. A little back story....in '08, we went to Disney during Christmas week and Michael had on a shirt with a Pirates of the Caribbean logo on it. When Tink saw him ...well, I'll let the video tell the story..

This year after getting the kids done up at Pirates League, I figured what better than going to scare Tink again.

Sooooo...here's what happened..

I'm waiting for our Photopass CD because some of the pictures were priceless! I snipped some of these so they're not great but you'll see how much fun Pixie Hollow was:

Bobbi was trying to tell Tink she was a good pirate...

But then Tink saw Michael's sword and got scared...

Tink was not a happy fairy

and said that pirates stink

She finally smiles

And was thrilled to see them go.

Afterwards, they saw Vidia and she gave them the stinkeye pirate:.

My little cutie Pirate!!

We decided to go back to the hotel after that. I was about 6 PM and we had done everything we wanted that day. We had plans on going to Hollywood Studios that night but it was getting cold and we were tired after our first day at the park. We headed back to the food court at POFQ and had dinner there. It was pretty uneventful. I wish we would have visited the food court at POR because I heard it was bigger. Food was ok there and the hotel is gorgeous but there really isn't a lot of variety at Sassagoula.

That's it for today....Next up....Is Animal Kingdom really the warmest park in WDW?

:flower3: Can I join in the fun? Your trip is off to a great start!. I can't believe how empty MK looks. What a great first day in the parks. Your pirates look adorable. pirate:

:welcome: Of course you can!! I was amazed at how empty the park was that morning. DH kept saying maybe everyone didn't realize it was open? LOL It was nice. Walking through Splash Mountain was really fun because we kept turning and turning and turning (they don't shorten the queue). It did get more crowded as the day went on but it's the first time I've ever been able to see a parade during the daytime with a spot right up front!

Thanks for the pirates compliment. They did a really great job at the Pirate's League.

Great video... I always wondered if they will react to pirates. I always find the fairies are very playful and we love to visit them. Probably why they always have such a long line

Thanks! They're so funny when they see pirates. They are playful and we love visiting PH. Although I've never done the Princess line during regular hours, we visited them during the MVMCP and they spent the same amount of time with the kids so I don't know why their line is always shorter.

Joining in:goodvibes

Loving your TR and can't wait for more

:welcome: Yay! Another visitor from Canada, aye!!!:rotfl:

Monday, December 13, 2010:

OK, I'm idiotic sometimes, I'll admit it. I have my blond moments (no offense to the blonds out there) and I brain fart... a lot, LOL.:lmao: Somewhere, in some planning guide, I read that Animal Kingdom gets really hot and it's the warmest park because of all the foliage. Yeah.......um, apparently that's not so in the winter. That day, I got up and decided I was going to be cute and wear
.

shorts.

When I got up that day, I checked the weather and it said high of 49 degrees F. At the point, the fluff where my brain should be said "wear shorts, you'll be warm in Animal Kingdom". Thank God I did not subject my children to my asininity:laughing:, because I was FREEZING!! We stepped out of the room and I thought, ok, not so bad, I can do this. We get to Animal Kingdom and I'm getting excited, not because of the rides, not because of the animals, I'm getting excited because I'm thinking that as soon as I step inside, I'll be warm.:rotfl2: We take the mandatory front of the park pics..

and I noticed there weren't any Photopass photographers around. Usually we see a few near the front to take pictures of families by the Christmas trees. I should have taken this as a sign. We walk in and Bobbi has trouble with her ticket because of the finger scanner. I think this slowed us down almost everyday that we were there. We would try to do rope drop, find the shortest line, jump on it and BAM, spend five minutes trying to hold her finger the right way for it to scan properly.

We finally get in and...it's still cold. Okay, okay, maybe I just have to walk a little farther into the park. Again, no sign of PP photographers. We have a picture of the Tree of Life, but not with us in front of it.

DisneyChristmas2010118.jpg

My awesome DH took this picture to show everyone I wasn't the only nimrod dressed in shorts that day::rotfl:

DisneyChristmas2010122.jpg

Even the birds needed heat lamps!!:scared1:
DisneyChristmas2010131.jpg

It was so cold that the animals were up and about. I think they were trying to keep themselves warm. This one crossed in front of our jeep. I think maybe he thought it was heated:rolleyes1:

DisneyChristmas2010143.jpg

Look at the baby giraffe!! These cuties were keeping warm in the sun:

DisneyChristmas2010171.jpg

The ostriches were funny that day. We didn't catch a picture, but a few of them were pecking a jeep close by to us.

DisneyChristmas2010194.jpg

Afterward, we headed toward the Pangani Trail. Yay, more foliage to keep me warm!! Let me tell you, the wind was WHIPPING through the bamboo that day and all those trees DO NOT KEEP YOU WARM!!

Do I look cold? Because I am!!

DisneyChristmas2010199.jpg

We come into the little room where they showcase different frogs, turtles and dead insects. Normally, this wouldn't interest me, but today, I took my time looking around. Know why? The room was HEATED!:woohoo: Ohhhh, it was so nice and warm, and hissing cockroaches have never been more interesting.

Even the naked mole rats were cold:

DisneyChristmas2010219.jpg

We couldn't stay there forever so back out into the cold we went. We found a hippo (isn't it cute?)

DisneyChristmas2010237.jpg

DisneyChristmas2010240.jpg

and showed the height difference between Michael and a 6 y/o male gorilla:

DisneyChristmas2010248.jpg

On our way out, there was a bridge and DH wanted to be cute and take pictures. He thought it was funny because the wind was whipping over that sucker and I was cold (can you tell?).

DisneyChristmas2010249.jpg

After I showered that day, I shaved and slathered the cocoa butter on. Well, my legs were so ashy and flaky because of the cold that I was seriously getting embarrassed about it:headache:.

We took a picture of this for our friend at home who likes to feed the spiders near his door. Anyone know what kind of spider this is?
