22 eggs, that's a great retrieval! Good luck with the fertilization. We had 25 eggs, 14 fertilized, transfered 2 and had a singleton. Upon freezing 5 "took" and were viable for future frozen embryo transfers. Two of the frozen embryos thawed perfectly and we transferred 2 more, we're due in 18 days with another singleton :)

Do you know how many embryos they'll be transferring?

We just got our new numbers:

22 eggs
11 mature
6 fertilized with ICSI

At first I was like, what? you go from 22 to 6?? but then the nurse said that is normal/within range.

We also found out that at least part of our infertility is that my DH's xxx must not like my eggs, so they did ICSI to 'join them together'.

Sounds like a great retrieval. My sister's IVF didn't work. It didn't help that we all had to fly out to CA because my grandfather died. She's going to rest a couple of months before trying again.

Hope you get great news with the fertilization! I only had 9 eggs, 7 fertilized and only 3 were left on transfer day and I still got twins out of it. Good luck! :flower3:

I'm very sorry to hear about your sister. I know that anytime along the way here we can get bad news and I'm trying to prepare myself since one never knows. But right now we are excited about having 6 -- I hope they make it until tomorrow so we can have some to freeze.

Today I started out feeling good but then got really nauseous. I'm hoping it just recovering from the surgery and not a start of OHSS (since I had so many eggs)

I just finished my first IVF cycle. It sadly was a negative :( but we may do another one in a year....just depends. It's a rough, expensive road though...not to mention my RE is 2 hours away so all those road trips and gas prices were stressful...so I'm glad to get a break, although I'd love to be pregnant.

Oh, RatPack, my heart goes out to you. I'm sorry.

My doc was originally about 40 minutes away but they opened up a new office so I was able to go to the one about 10 minutes away. With all the testing and ultrasounds, I can't imagine traveling 2 hours away...that would certainly take its toll.

Take care of your body, mind and spirit now...

6 is a great number! If you were with our RE that would be 3 tries, they will only transfer 2 at a time. So that's good! Congrats!

Before we found out our number, our doc was saying that he really only wants to put 1 great one back in. I'm still leaning toward putting 2 back in...but in my excitement of finding we had 6, I forgot to ask her if they gave a "grade" to them or not. Guess I'll ask them tomorrow.

Marshay - those are EXCELLENT numbers! Keep thinking positive those are your babies growing :)

Yeah, we're pretty excited. Today I took some time out to pray for my 6 babies!! How weird to say that??? I know Shady Grove doctors will not call them babies, but that's the way I look at them too.

I'm so excited for today's fertilization report!

I haven't read all the posts but I wanted to give a few words of encouragement to all those going through IVF. After 6 years of marriage my DH and I went the IVF/ICSI route. We had one failed cycle and followed that by a cycle using our frozen embryos. The result was b/g twins. Born at 28 weeks, they spent 8 weeks in the NICU.

It's a bumpy road with many ups and downs but in our case it was successful and well worth it.

Passing alot good thoughts and encouragement

First congrats!! But 8 weeks in NICU -- how sad/joyful/unknown that must have been! I've seen some of my friends' pictures of preemies and it's truly amazing how strong the will to live is.

Not sure if I mentioned it or not, but I am on the schedule for Thursday to do our embryo transfer! :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

That's great news!! Are you feeling better? Keep up the fluids!! As you know, OHSS knocked out my embryo transfer for this cycle so we'll be doing a frozen embryo transfer in early Sept. In the meantime, I'll try to maintain a good "waiting womb" for those frosties!!! Wishing you lots of luck on Thursday and lots of sticky vibes being sent to your embabies!

Praying to the Sticky God! Good Luck on Thursday, how many are you transferring? :cool1:

Thanks all! Yes, I feel much better yesterday and today. Only a bit sore in the stomach.

Today we had 3 embryos go to the compacting stage which I understand is prior to the blastocyte stage. So for those 3, we are looking good.

I didn't have the heart to ask what happened to the other 3 yet...will do tomorrow. I don't know if they can "catch up" or if they are just not viable.

Our nurse said we would meet with the embryologist right before our transfer to discuss how many to put back in based on the latest data. That sounds kind of late to me, but I guess that's the way Shady Grove wants to do it.

I'd like to put 2 in but DH only wants to do 1. So we'll just have to wait and see how many survive the next 1.5 days and what grade they are.

I admit I'm feeling a wee bit weird/nervous/sad seeing how these numbers go down -- (22 - 11 - 6 and now 3 left.)

Thanks to IVF we have 6 year old b/g twins, best of luck to you...

Don't get too down about the numbers going down. We only had 2 good embryos and did our transfer on day 3 because it didn't look like any would get to day 5 (the blastocyst stage). We had 1 iffy one that they would have frozen if it had made it to day 5, but it didn't. I was worried about it as well, but it all turned out perfectly. I know that doesn't always happen, but if you end up with 2 or 3 good grade embryos on day 5, I think you are doing great!

Good Luck! I'll keep praying for a successful cycle. :grouphug:

Hey, guys...just a quick update...then back to bedrest.

We had 2 embryos transferred yesterday...their grades were

1BB
2BB

We were told the best is 1AA and the worst they will transfer is 3CC. So we're kind of right in the middle.

We may be able to freeze 3 embyos if they reached the right stage of development today. Otherwise they will be discarded. I guess with it being 4th of July they didn't call me...

I'm feeling fine -- just really nervous.

Now we wait...blood test is July 16th to determine if we are pregnant or not.

Happy Holiday Weekend.
Keeping you all in my thoughts. After a year of unsuccessful IUI we did an IVF treatment that ended being on THE September 11th (also DH b-day)
what a crazy day. Here I am waiting to go to the clinic and DH is in the shower. All of a sudden, I am yelling up to DH that some idiot just flew a plane into the world trade center. Then the 2nd plane hit and the rest is history.

The day was a blur,. I was so dissapointed when the Dr. said that they only retrieved 5 eggs. 3 Fertilized. However, 2 took and now I have beautiful 6 year old girls.

I know that there are many people either waiting, hoping, trying to get pg right now. I guess what really worked for me during this time is to find joy in the other parts of your life. I did the support boards for a while and I found them to be depressing. (I hope that you don't think I am horrible. i feel it is so important to not let it rule your life. Now, I know that is hard when you are taking shots several times a day, running around to appointments etc. While we were "waiting" we took trips, scuba dived , etc.
Some days are harder than others ie:baby showers etc. but in my heart, I knew someday I would be a mom whether having my own biological or adopting so in the meantime I just tried to have as much fun as possible.

Good luck to everying currently trying.
