I've never eaten at these WDW restaurants

I am like AndRu to a degree, for the 1st time we have an ADR booked in August but that is a character breakfast at Cape May for Josh's benefit.

I am quite happy with the Outback/KFC and Chick-fil-a myself - plus the cooking we do at the villa.

Deb

Ive not eaten at many WDW dining at all, with the exception of Trails End and the Pop and All Stars Food courts(not what you call fine dining, but very nice none the less) ;) but Im trying to change that as I go along. :goodvibes

Cant give you any opinions on your list but we are trying Palio at the Swan this year, so when I see you over there in October, I will give you a face to face review over a glass of wine :thumbsup2

Thanks for the template Laura - hope you don't mind.

Here's our family's opinions: i.e.Me,DW,DD19,DS16

Boma *****
'Ohana *****
San Angel ***** (if you like Mexican food. Atmospheric but with little space).
Crystal Palace *** plus
H&V ***
Garden Grill ****
Chef Mickey ** (atmosphere more for younger children I suspect but food is perfectly ok)
Liberty Tree Tavern ***
1900 PF **** (atmosphere slightly twee but excellent food)

I do believe opinions are greatly influenced according to age of party. We're off to sample all of these again tomorrow. :cool1: :dance3:

We've never been bothered before but I have made several ADR's for our Christmas holiday this year just 'for a change' our first is the San Angel so am glad to hear it's ok :)

Chef Mickey's - Very average buffet style, couldn't really see Matt waving his napkin with Minnie though.

Garden View Lounge - This was lovely to do in the afternoon, we really enjoyed it here.

Hollywood & Vine - again your average buffet, I like the pink lemonade :)

1900 Park Fare - different buffet food a bit nicer than the others.

'Ohana - We love Ohana's, Great cocktails so you will love it here ;)

Rose & Crown - Disappointing for us, wouldn't return again unless there was a big menu change.

San Angel Inn - We enjoyed this, great margarita's ;)

Wow! Thanks, guys - you clearly enjoy eating as much as we do!

We really must go to 'Ohana in October
Have you booked that ADR yet? ;)

Garden View Lounge. The view of The Land is fun
I know you like to think you’re Superman, Kev, but a view of The Land from the Grand Floridian? Really? How many points did you score in the quiz last night, btw? I scored 35, in case you’ve forgotten. :teeth:

I'm not a real expert on Chinese food
What food are you an expert on exactly? Not Indian, unless throwing my tea all over the road counts. :rotfl2:

Good girl. I’ve no idea why you and I get on so well. :rotfl:

Somebody else described it on another thread as "V&A at half the cost
Wow! If this claim bears out, I’ll be well impressed. As you know, Frances, this one has been on our “to do” list forever. We’re staying onsite at the BoardWalk Villas for a week in October, so it should be the ideal time to fit this in at last. However, we’re there during the IF&FW which we adore, so we might be all fooded-out.

Deb why not try the dinning plan so you can eat at most of the places?
We wouldn’t want to try them all in one trip, Paul. With a few exceptions, most of them are on the ‘never tried’ list for a reason. It’s only because we’ve done our favourites so many times that I’m even considering the ‘also-rans’.

That is a surprisingly long list for you, Deb! :teeth:
It is, Hil, but not nearly as long as the list of those we have done! :teeth:

Rose & Crown
Very disappointing, just like cheap microwave pub grub, will never go to again

If you are from the UK then why bother?
There are a few on this list which I can’t even imagine wanting to try. The Rose and Crown tops that list! :teeth: We have popped in a couple of times for a beer, though.

I certainly find it strange to see other booking restaurant sittings months in advance
I’m not into ADRs, either – I’d rather go with the flow. We’ve always managed to get what we want provided we’re willing to be flexible. We do book for the ‘hard to get’ places, though. For example, we wouldn’t dream of trying to get into V&As without booking, but the same applies to top restaurants anywhere.

I’ll hold you to that! I almost added Trails End to the list. We haven’t eaten there since our first trip in 1992 and I can’t remember anything about it. I thought it might be a nice lunchtime diversion from MK.

Well, I’m not in the least bit envious, Tony. :(

Not unless she was wearing orange hotpants and serving beer, K! :rotfl2:

Teppanyaki - lot's of battered, fried food! Very nice for a while but it got a bit too greasy for me after a while. Fun sitting at the counter to dine.

Not sure that is representative - it's a bit like a French Restaurant is "all snails..." ;). You can order "tempura" as an appetiser (which is seafood/vegetables in a light batter and deep fried), but that isn't the main act. Tempura shouldn't be greasy.

Teppanyaki is basically food cooked on a hot plate (with a little oil). You get a japanese soup, a japanese salad, and choose your main course (i.e. steak, seafood, chicken or a combo). You main course is cooked on the huge communal hot plate infront of you (with lots of dramatics and juggling by your Japanese Chef). The chef also cooks stir-fried vegetables, mushrooms, bean sprouts and you have this with boiled/egg fried rice.

http://www.ourlaughingplace.com/asp/article.asp?request=DisplayArticle&articleID=188 gives you a good idea about what to expect. I would call it "nice casual dining" - I like the food and the experience (may not be for everyone though).

It shouldn't be greasy.

as for the rose and crown better to get the fish and chips from outside.IMHO in recent years they have gone down in quality, chips over cooked.Have heard thet raglen road is a much better bet for fish and chips(they have an outstide shop i think as well)

Boatwright's - Ate there in 2001. Not a bad meal. Not much atmosphere.

Hollywood & Vine - Nice buffet choice.

Nine Dragons - Nice decor. Found the food too sweet and salty.

'Ohana - First time we went in 2003 we enjoyed. Latest visit in 2005 was disapointing. Didn't like new menu and service was poor.

Restaurant Marrakesh - One of our favourites. Nice food, good service and a belly dancer - nuff said!

Rose & Crown - Ate there in December. Nice meal, good service. (part of CP package).

'Ohana - Ate here in 2002 (so not recently!), wasn't impressed. Husband liked it - so think that it is "horses for courses". Probably one of those that you should try to see if it is your sort of thing...

Quite fancy trying here, cannot see any menu details on wdw.info though.

Anyone tried a character breakfast here?

I have Johnny, but it was in 2002 so I'm not sure how much help that is!!

It was quite a noisy venue due to all the metal; the food was good for a buffet :)

Sand Trap Bar and Grill - this is located at Bonnet Creek , where Osprey Ridge and Eagle Pines share the clubhouse. Serves good burgers, sandwiches, hotdogs and wings.

Non-golfers are welcome, but not sure it's worth a special trip, unless you want to see the quieter side of Disney. It also has a nice bar, but I think you've already visited that, haven't you Deb! :drinking1

Review here :)
