I've narrowed it down to 3 - please help me decide which resort!!

Okay, after much aggravation and sleepless nights I have narrowed the field down to 3 resorts. It will be myself (notoriously indecisive), dd 10, dd 11 and dh (totally not into the whole Disney thing). We will be going the last week of September into first week of Oct. (2006 - I know! I'm in big trouble if I'm obsessing this much already!) for 8 nights. I've only stayed at Poly, Pop and CBR in the past and would like to try someplace new.

My choices are WL - dh is an avid outdoorsman and I thought this resort could possibly bring him over to my side !

POR - I love the theming and have heard so many great things here on the Dis! Not to mention that we'd probably save 300 - 400 dollars over WL.

CSR - Not real sure that I love the theming, but dd's thought the pool and playground looked really cool.

DH did not like the idea of a split stay but I may have to work on that! Anyway, I know no one can make my decision for me but I would love some input from those that have maybe stayed at these resorts. I should add that this may be my last trip for awhile (unless I convert DH or win the lottery)!!

I vote WL and if that's not possible then go for POR. We will be going in Sept. for a few days and will be trying POFQ. Have stayed at WL and I love it. The girls might like the pool at POR better. Both pools at WL and CSR have slides but POR looks like it might be better. I have stayed at CSR and loved it too. I was going to CSR for the themeing not the pool. Good luck and have fun.

Our first choice would be WL because we love it there and there is a lot to do. The theming is great and it is cozy and warm, and if your DH is an outdoorsy type it will probably turn him to the DISside! We have also stayed at CSR and liked that too. If you want to save the $$ then I would go there. The pool is Great and the playground is a lot of fun! I also like the Pepper Market(some on these boards my disagree) and the theming is fun.

Whichever you choose, you can't go wrong with those 3 choices! Have a great trip!!

My first choice would be WL. It is a wonderful resort that is close to MK, but when you are at the resort you feel like you are miles away. Great theming; nice pool, relaxing lobby.

Second choice -- POR. It also has great theming and great restaurants. But having stayed at WL a few times, my heart would be set for that one.

My vote is for WL. You'll have great boat or bus transportation to Fort Wilderness. If hubby is an outdoorsman, he may enjoy spending some non park time there. They have horseback riding, and he could rent a canoe, kayak or fishing equipment. There is also a jogging/biking path to FW from the WL. Maybe check out the Campfire movies that they show over at FW. Maybe consider a cabin there as a fourth choice

I vote POFQ. Very cool pool, ok foodcourt, walking distance to POR with its pool and sit-down restaurant. Boat ride to DTD is the best! Very small resort - nothing is a far walk from room

I'm casting my vote to WL, hands down!

The WL resort is absolutely, breaktakingly beautiful. The lobby itself is VERY impressive! And the theme (obviously) might win over your DH!

Also, its great to be in the MK area, and the transportation is very good. Nothing beats being able to take the boat straight to MK or one to the Contemporary for Chef Mickeys, etc. Well worth the extra $$$, especially if you are trying to win over the DH.

WL is the way to go! Good luck!

Thank you all very very much for your responses!! I have been leaning toward WL but wasn't sure if it was worth the extra money but it sounds as if it is. I need to have a back up plan though with the shortage of discount codes and it seems that most of you like POR. I think I do too, it looks so shady and relaxing while CSR just looks hot !!

Thanks again, it's so nice to have people who take this stuff as seriously as I do, my family just looks at me and shake their heads.

We've only stayed at POR so I can't really compare and contrast but we do love everything about it. It's a beautiful serene place to come back to after the busy park. As far as "cool pools" my kids loved being able to use POR and POFQ's pools and loved them equally the same...legal pool hopping how cool is THAT. Anyway, I have tried to "dream" about staying at this deluxe or that someday and really I since I don't really know what i'm missing, I think POR is probably deluxe enough for me. Have a great time whatever your choice!

I'll try to blow against the wind here - I have a DH who isn't all into disney either! LOL!

What about AKL? We stayed there 2 years ago and there really isn't anything like it (in this country anyway). It might appeal to an outdoorsman in a different kind of way - all the animals and the place has a "going on safari" kind of feel to it. The pool is beautiful as well. The slide is very tame for your kids though.

You can stay at the AKL for the same price as the WL. I had never been in the WL until our trip earlier this month - we went there to eat dinner - and my first reaction was how much the interior of it looked like the AKL. You can tell the same person designed them both. So the AKL has that grand interior and woodsy feeling. It just seemed much grander to me than than the WL AND you have all the animals too. Much bigger pool.

I don't know where you're from but the WL struck me as looking like a place we stayed at The Dells in Wisconsin. Neat water park attached to it (no water park at WL) but there was something so different and cool about the AKL I think it is worth trying.

Another option is the YC/BC. Your daughters seem like they're old enough to take full advantage of the swimming options there and it looks a bit more like POR (a bit more buttoned down).
