I've just hired 2 hit men ...(my sons) to somehow kill my ....microwave oven. My oven was one of the first microwaves made when they first came out. I really don't feel it is safe anymore to use, but I do like the microwave. My dh won't replace it until it is broken beyond repair and unfortunately he can fix anything. Any ideas?

stupid idea....but open up the back and take out some small part that he wont see. if he cant see it and/or replace it, he cant fix it. probably not a good idea.

oooooh or crack the glass.. once that is done it is not safe to use anymore. and probably a better idea.

i dont know. anyone else wanna try?

i just had a thought.... you could always "drop" it. i can guarentee from personal experience that this works. LOL

Have you seen the commercial when the wife says her washer was broken? When the husband says how she says sledgehammer. It would work ;)

No ideas but I hope your old microwave rests in peace ;)

MY son accidentally broke our microwave by nuking some aluminum foil......be careful, it arched a little and flamed a lot....but I must admit it worked REALLY well!

I wouldn't recommend anything that makes a fire. My girls once put some easy-mac in without the water. It made flames & lots of smoke. The microwave was ruined but it also took a little while to get the smoke smell out of the house.

Go buy a new one yourself, you don't need his permission, it's your money too.

Hi tigercat! Nice to see you here! No idea how to wreck a microwave, but as Katholyn said, I hope it rests in pieces!;)

I would have an "unfortunte" accident with the microwave. "accidently" have it fall off the coutner while cleaning. :)

Heck, I would personally just go buy a new one and tell my husband, sorry, I just don't feel this old one is "safe."

I guess I shouldn't feel this way but I stay at home and he works. Times were tough last year although they are starting to pick up a little now. I help look after my grandkids but am finding it hard to get a job with my health problems. So far, the 2 hit men have discussed dropping it (okay by me except I am worried about the floor), aluminum foil (fire hazard), and doing something to the inside. My dh, though is an electronic technologist and seems to have parts for anything and everything, and can fix anything and everything. My microwave broke in Nov. and I said then that we really needed a new one. He said that if he couldn't fix it then I could get a new one. 2 days later me oven was back in place working just fine ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh. I'll let you know what happens next because I think the 2 hit men are going to be working on it tomorrow. (By the way the 2 hit men are 22 and 23 and have a degree in electronic technitions).

No, you shouldn't feel that way. You have a right to things in your life, and if a microwave is what you want, then go get it.

Would the hit men come and visit me and my oven when they are done? ;)

Disnee Dad Says...................................Oh come on. You can easily get a new one for under a hundred bucks. The .6 cubic feet which is small can often be had for $39.
BTW tell your kids they are pretty thick in the head if they don't see this as a major opportunity to throw down a couple twentys and buy you one! Then they would be hereos.
Tell them about your post and have them see if there are any good ideas posted.

BUY YOUR MOM A MICROWAVE!!!!!!!
FOR A DOLLAR PER YEAR OF YOUR LIVES YOU CAN BUY HER A MICROWAVE!!! ISN'T SHE WORTH A DOLLAR A YEAR!

Let's see if that helps!

Disnee Dad is Wise! ;) (I like his posts, btw) :)

Microwaves are really on the inexpensive-end of the appliances these days. I've got 2 microwaves but, only use 1 in the kitchen. A back-up is ready and waiting tho. ;)

Sorry to chuckle but, can't the 2 DS's over-electronic their Dad somehow? ;)

Here's to a new microwave!

P.S. I hope the 'fee' for the Hitmen comes outta their allowances! :p :p :p LOL

I am with Aahmom on this one.. you work at home and take care of his kids.. and the house.. Go buy yourself a new microwave... you deserve it..

This has been fun. I love the advise here. As to the pay of the hit men. It is do something or don't get fed. For 23/22 yrs old boys that is pretty drastic. Also, they can't help pay for one as neither one of them has been able to find a job yet. They both just got out of college and the pickings are slim. Debster if they do a good job I'll ask them if they'd like another contract job. But you would have to feed them and they do have certain tastes. LOL I really am hoping they can out electonic my dh but that is really the hard part. As they said they could do a bunch of things that would render the microwave useless but my dh is so smart and knowledgeable about electronics he would spot it in a minute. It will be interesting to see what they come up with today. The other thing someone else told me about was a monitor that you would put up to the microwave and it would tell you if it was safe or not. Has anyone heard of it and would you have any idea where to get one?

If your DH is the frugal type let him know the new microwaves are much more efficient. It seems like everytime we get a new one we have to adjust cooking times because the new one cooks so much faster. They have also gotten pretty inexpensive. A nice basic one is $50, $100 gets all the bells & whistles.

Well my old one "accidentally" broke. The 2 boys took it outside and it "accidentally" got snowed on. My dh was still determined to fix it but I refused to allow it back into the house. I start looking for a new one tomorrow. Thanks for all the advise. The 2 hit men did a really good job. My dh doesn't know though that there is no way he would be able to fix it. The snipped something that you can't get anymore (although my dh just might have some downstairs....).

Disnee Dad Says..............................Take precautions, once he finds out out he can take a strip of whatever, and slide it through a thingamabob, you could still be in trouble!
