I've heard negative comments about Orlando...

We went in 1990 for a"holiday of a lifetime" and were hooked. We have been very fortunate to have returned every year since then. It still amazes us and we just love the atmosphere and no you can't compare it to Blackpool. The place is just magical, we do not have kids and are now in our 40s, this makes no difference, young or old there is something for everyone. Make sure when you go that you take time out just to sit and people watch and wonder at all the special details that you would normally rush by and miss. Also remember to look up at things, its amazing what you don't see without looking properly.

Love it and always will!!!!!!!

15 days to go till we return to our favourite place :yay:

Oh Ali, I know you had a terrible experience last time, it just shows that even WDW is not for everyone but I agree with other sentiments that people just kid themselves they're 'too cool' to enjoy it.
I did an eco safari trip to India 18 months ago and the others on the group were all very ' environmentally-aware' and 'PC' (they seemed to forget the fact that we had to FLY there!) and when I asked them about their families etc they all said that their kids were all gagging to go to WDW!
I really hope you have a fantastic trip next time and it goes some way to brushing all those bad memories under the carpet

Can't wait Carol :) we are lucky to be able to go back and wash away as you say all those awful memories and they truley were awful. I will never figure out that after all that my son has went through they couldn't have made it in some way pleasurable for him instead of him crying himself to sleep and counting the days till we got home. It was only a fortnight out of their lives and one would think they could have been nice whereas I felt with his level of injury no one knows what lies round the corner for him.

they poped in last week for my sons birthday and found out that we were going again this year (people gave my son dollars for his birthday) and right away the told my son and husband what they thought of us taking our son and taking my elderley parents. I even received an email with the same talk but I have ignored it. I am not the least bit worried about my son or my parents. America made life easier for us with our son and we can't wait to go back and have a lovley holiday. plus we bought into DVC  so no turning back now :rotfl:

loads of happy thoughts now

The sort of people, ourselves included ,who tend to like/go back to Florida, like the thought of getting up everyday & have something to do-even if you decide not to! Some of our friends can't believe that we keep going back, but let's face it once you have lay beside one pool in the med, they are all much of a muchness!
I can understand how some may look on I-drive as a bit like Blackpool but I have to say that the last time we were in Blackpool it was lap dance bars & drunks & although I'm sure you can find these in Orlando you will have to look pretty hard!
Some friends of ours went to WDW a couple of years ago & would'nt believe me when I told them that there was no way that they could booze everynight & do the parks every day & if that was what they wanted to do then save themselves a few £000's & go somewhere else!
We always stay in the Lake Buena Vista area,it's fairly quiet but right on the edge of Disney property-walking distance to loads of restaurants & Disney Marketplace.

We have been going to Florida for about 25 years and in that time we have with our enthusiasm pursuaded many of our friends and acquaintances to make a visit. They went and in some cases enjoyed but the majority of them wouldn't go back. In fact if you look at UK tourists in general there is not much enthusiasm for a trip to Florida. Many people just wouldn't be seen in Florida.
Having said that we went to Blackpool for an hour last year and couldn't wait to get out of the place. Now that is a dump and there are no possible comparisons with Florida.

Florida is still, by far, the number one long-haul holiday destination for Brits.

ITA, I think the enthusiasm is still strong, now whether people can afford to go is a different matter but the enthusiasm is still there
