I've created a patriotic monster!

LOL Some of you may remember reading that I brought my 8 y.o. DS to a Support the Troops rally this past weekend. Almost every day this week he's asked if there was a rally we could go to after school. (There hasn't been).

Today, he took the poster board we created last weekend as well as another one that him and his older friend (she's 10) created (it said, "Honk to Support our Troops") and two American flags and went out on the sidewalk in front of our house to rally up neighborhood support! They were thrilled to get three honks! (We live on a rather quiet road. LOL) He said there was only one car that didn't honk but they were teenagers (or "minors" as his friend called them) who were too busy dancing in their car to their tunes.

Oh so you've got one too (a patriotic monster) LOL. I've been shocked at how 13 DS has formed his opinion on what is going on. Tha apple didn't fall too far from the parental trees. In our Karate class there are several adults who are very anti Bush/anti action in Iraq. DS is so upset at some of these things that come out of their mouths (Bush is the next Hitler, he'll put us under martial law and we'll never vote for a president again). DS realizes this isn't a "Game" and that war is "bad" but her also realizes that it would be worse to let Saddam to stay in power. He also knows that DH could be called up at anytime to go over there.

We missed the support the troup rally because of a Karate tournament, but I'll keep my eye out for another one.

tell him to keep up the good work....I have one too! My 19 DS has joined the Army and even as a small child loved his country. Today the paper published his viewpoint ( it's spotlighted from the letters to the editor) about how he feels about his country. Just keep encouraging the little guy because little guys grow to big guys one day!!
