I've been watching the weather reports and I have questions.

For the last several weeks, the Orlando weather reports have been thunderstorms, thunderstorms, thunderstorms... Not only on the weatherchannel.com and intellicast.com, but also on the local websites. Does that mean that it is going to rain every single day? Up here in Kentuckyland, when we have thunderstorms it means that it will be miserable all day. What about Orlando? Does it go from sunny, to quick thunderstorm, back to sun again? :sunny:
Until I get this figured out, I can't start packing!!! :confused3

It does rain every day somewhere in Orlando at this time of year. That doesn't mean it rains everywhere. It also doesn't usually rain very long. Most of the storms come up in the late afternoon or early evening when the coastal sea breezes collide. They can be very fierce thunderstorms, but usually only last a short while. Don't let it worry you. Most of the time it will be hot and sunny. When it does start to storm, please take the lightening very seriously.

Well as a local, I can safely say we have hardly had any rain in the past few weeks. It calls for storms every day, but, in this heat and humidity, there is always a chance :) Pack a poncho and head on out like the rest of us! :umbrella:

Starting Friday we're going to get a lot of rain for a few days due to the tropical storm that's fixing to hit the southern part of the state.

As Feralpeg stated this is usual for summer weather. Strong, intense, usually short thunderstorms. As advised please take the lightening very seriously. Orlando area is the ground stike capital of the nation for lightening strikes.

However as Ducklite noted we are still in Hurricane season so a Tropical storm could blow in and settle some steady rain over the area.

Bring your ponchos, plan to be in during the heavy storms and have a good time.

Thanks to everyone! :sunny: :sunny:

While I'm a WDW veteran (at least a dozen visits), I've only been during this time of the year once. We went in September a few years ago immediately following Hurricane Hugo. We were hot but wet from the drizzle, but when we'd go inside an exibit, we'd freeze in the air conditioning!
I really don't want a repeat of that.

When is that supposed to blow over? We arrive late Sunday afternoon.

I think it is Florida Law for it to rain everyday, during summer months, in Orlando around 3-5pm!

Good time to head back to the resort for some re-grouping before dinner! :earsgirl:

On our May trip to AKL, it predicted Thunderstorms every day.

We had the most gorgeous weather of any trip we've ever taken. :sunny: It rained once, for about an hour.

We'd decided to nap for a short time, before dinner at Boma. We had a few minutes wait before our dinner time so we stepped outside by the brook to look at the ducklings that had been there earlier. We noticed the ground was wet. So we asked if someone had cleaned the area or something, since the sun was shining. They told us it had rained, hard for about 40 minutes.

It rained once! During our nap! Can't beat that.

When we stayed at Pop in August, we had brief thunderstorms in the afternoons. Nothing that would make you leave the parks and nothing that made walking around unbearable.
