:( I'm so upset.

Had an appt. this morning to get my blood pressure checked b/c it was high at my appt. last week. Went in, and it was high. So they put me in a room to lay down and took it again 10 minutes later...it was lower, but still high. So...off to the hospital I go to get monitored for a few hours. They monitored baby's heartbeat, my blood pressure, and contractions. Everything was fine...blood pressure dropped a lot while I was there.

So...good news is that baby is fine. Bad news is that I've been put on bed rest. Not looking too good as far as being able to take the bar exam is concerned...not much I can do about that...gotta take care of my little boy. :)

Only 7 more weeks to go. I always wished that he'd come late so I could take the bar exam...now I'm hoping he comes early!

:) Sending you loads of pixie dust and happy thoughts to make your next 7 weeks fly by!!

You're going to be so sick of the DIS you'll never come visit us after that little guy is born!! ;)

Take care of yourself!!

Hope you have a laptop with Internet access. Prayers and pd that bed rest does what it's supposed to. Keep us posted, and keep on Dising. This will give you more time to study, right?

Thats tough Skuttle. I was put on bedrest at times with my first. We'll do our part on keeping you entertained.

Who wants to start a silly arguement with me?;) :p We sould start off buy arguing the color of the sun.;) :p

I had 6 weeks of bed rest before DS was born.
I kept thinking - I'll never have this kind of rest and relaxation again......(enjoy it while you can).....it's been 5 yrs now......I'm still hoping to catch up on my sleep!
Take care, relax, enjoy the quiet, and catch up on all those books and videos you've been meaning to watch/read.
Because pretty soon it'll be only, Bear, Barney, Dora, Stanley, etc...
:p

Lots of prayers and pixie dust. Make sure you get your rest. I know how boring it can be as I had that happen to me with my second pregnancy (my only DD). It helped a lot and everything went well during delivery. DD is now a healthy, very active 18 year old!!!

Take care and keep us posted!!:D

what is it about boys? I got put on bedrest for PIH when I was 33 weeks, too. Ugh. Not what I planned...got to spend two different occasions in the hospital to monitor it, too. blech.

They were sure Daniel would have to be induced early, but I was able to get him to just a few days shy of 40 weeks. He was only 6lbs 3oz, so glad I did!

I know it stinks, especially in your case with the bar and all. But as hard as it is, take it seriously. Follow what your dr.s recommendations are. Try to take a little you time. If you have computer access while laying down (I was lucky and could use my dh's laptop) check out the bedrest board at Parentsplace or Parentsoup.

You take care of that little boy! And yourself, too.

I had PIH and bedrest the last few weeks with DD. She was 4 days late and only 5 lbs, 15 oz. But she was perfect.
Try to relax and let DH pamper you:D .

I was hospitalized at 30 weeks with my DS8 because of blood pressure problems. Even on complete hospitalized bedrest, it was considered high. I learned to watch a lot of TV!! The highlight of my day was getting out of bed to take a sit shower (or so they thought;) ). I made it to almost 34 weeks before developing HELP syndrome. We were fortunate that my son was born with very little developmental problems. Most of his problems at birth were because of what my body was doing. Today, he's as healthy as can be.

I wish you the best. I know it's going to be a long 7 weeks. In the end you'll have the baby and he'll more than make up for what your going through now. Sorry about having to postpone your plans.

My thoughts are with you. Do whatever the docs tell you. I went into preterm labor at 24 weeks, was in the hospital for 7 weeks and on bedrest for 8 more weeks, DS was only 4 days early. I agree with an earlier post, enjoy the rest time. Take the time to do all the stuff you won't have time to do after the baby is born, read, watch movies, listen to music. I spent my last 8 weeks playing Camelot...hey it was entertaining for someone stuck to the couch.

Been there, done that. Hope you have a laptop...there were none (I don't think) 12 years ago when I went through 18 weeks of bedrest. Be careful what you wish for...you do not really want him to be early. Drink lots of water. {{{Hugs}}}

Also, been there; done that.:D Was on bedrest for my whole third trimester. That was a rather difficult time with my almost 2 year old.:o

{{hugs}} sweetie. I'm sorry you're on bedrest. He's allowed to come early, but not this early! I hope things work out and your BP goes down.

I just want to go to bed and rest. :p

Allison, you're doing great for your little guy. Hang in there, not too much longer now (easy for me to say, eh?? :))

My best for you, buddy,

Dan

I'm sorry, Skuttle. I hope everything goes okay. If you miss the bar exam, how long do you have to wait to take it?

The same thing happened to me when I was pregnant with my first child - I have notoriously low blood pressure when I'm not pregnant, so it came as a bit of a shock.

You've got the right idea though, you gotta take care of the baby first! Is there another time after the baby is born that you can take the bar?

Take care of yourself and baby, Skuttle!

Just wanted to wish you all the best. I hope those 7 weeks fly and that the bed rest does you and your little one a lot of good. Hang in there {{hugs}}

Thanks everyone. :) I'm sure I'll make it...at least I have Harry Potter to look forward to later this month! ;)

If I can't take the bar in July, I can take it in Feb. I have another appt on Tuesday, so I'll ask her about the exam then. I'm thinking she probably won't let me take it since it would definitely make my blood pressure go really high. I know I can find a job doing what I did during school (law clerk) and that should be enough, along w/ DH's income, money to support us for 6 months, so I'm not too concerned. Baby comes first. :)

And unfortunately...we don't have a laptop! DH has been bugging me for a year or so to get one...should have listened to him.

Hehe, my doctor tried that with me when I was pregnant with my first child. Little did he know that I didn't plan on paying two deductibles (one for the blood pressure hospitalization and for the delivery stay). My contractions began before I left the doc's office, and I delivered her the next morning!:)
Good luck with the bedrest. I know it can be boring.
Kim
