I've been Promoted! (And my manager is evil)

I was at Worlds of Fun today working at the Patriot. When I got off work (four hours later than scheduled), I was told to go the manager's office. I assumed it was because of an incident with another employee that had happened earlier in the day so I was not concerned. I got to the manager's office and he called me in. He said he would let Candy (The woman who shares his office) leave before the yelling started.

Now I'm concerned. I was not involved at all in the incident today although I did witness it, but I was wondering if somebody had told him otherwise. So he asked me in a very serious tone of voice, "Do you know why you are here?" I told him I assumed ti was because of the incident earlier and he asked me what happened.

I described what I saw. When I was done, he said, "Thank you for telling me this. But this is not what I wanted to talk to you about." He then proceeded to tell me they had been watching me. At this point I am trying to think back to anything I might have done that would warrant being in trouble, but I couldn't think of anything. I was starting to panic!

He then told me they like what they've seen and think I will be a good Assistant Lead. So I am now an Assistant Lead at the Spinning Dragons Complex! I thanked him (after telling him how evil he was.) When I left the office he told Candy and the secretary, "She didn't cry." I guess it's kind of a ritual they have. I told him I came close to crying to make him feel better. LOL

Very cruel! Congrats on the promotion. Hope it had a nice pay raise that came with it!

Thanks! I talked to my boyfriend (a supervisor at that park) and he said that is the common intiation ritual for leadership. He went through it when he interviewed for supervisor. I actually ddin't ask about pay, it never even crossed my mind.
