Slept until around 9:00 and had coffee with the animals on the balcony. DH and I left around 11:00 for Typhoon Lagoon – this bus was really the only bus we had to wait more than 15 minutes for all week. We started off with Shark Reef – how cool is that! DH loved it – he really thought the sharks were behind the glass! Did all the rides and played around a lot in the wave pool. Had chicken caesar salads for lunch and they hit the spot. We had a nice fun relaxing day.

We left just as a thunderstorm came in and just made it on the bus before the rain came down. Back to the room to chill for a few and walked around the hotel. I think the rooms a couple doors down would have been perfect for a view. When we looked out to the feeding trees the giraffe’s heads were blocked by the trees. I think room 4515 (we had 4503) would have a perfect view. Our room location probably would have been better one floor down.

Cleaned up and we caught a cab to the Wilderness Lodge for dinner at Artist Point for mom and dads 45th anniversary. Walked around a little before dinner – hotel is really neat. They thought it was their 50th so they had to redo the special menus they made (the say happy 45th wedding anniversary at the bottom) mom really got a kick out of that. We all got the wine flight which was wonderful (and made us all a little tipsy so it was a fun evening!) Our waited tasted one of the wines he brought and said he didn’t like it (but we did) so he brought us an extra glass of wine (which made us a little bit more tipsy!) We got the mushroom soup (yummy) and DH got the venison roll which he really enjoyed. Mom and I got the salmon and the guys got the buffalo. Everything was delicious and we had a lot of laughs over dinner. They brought mom and dad the berry cobbler with Mickey decorations for their anniversary – it looked so good that DH and I got one. We all could have shared just one they were so big – and good too! Then they gave mom the recipes to the soup, salmon and cobbler and also gave her cedar planks! It was a really good meal.

Didn’t want the night to end so we went to the lounge for pina coladas. We thought we would hang out for the electrical water parade but then they said it had been damaged in one of the storms and they were keeping it away incase Ivan came. Went to get a cab out front but one of the valets drove us home in the hotel van instead – nice service – and he got a nice tip!

Back to the room at around 10:30. Lots of zebras and Gilzegabeasts outside – (DH decided to call the wildebeests Gilzegabeasts instead) – they were really close and when the sprinkler system came on they all took off running – pretty cool. Weather channels now saying Ivan will hit the panhandle instead. Feel bad for them but glad it’s no longer coming this way. Boy we would have been ticked off if we had stayed home!

Wow, your meal for your parents anniversary sounds heavenly! I love leisurely family meals like that with a few cocktails (or wine or whatever) that make special memories:)

Glad you are keeping the storm/hurricane at bay.

Thanks for sharing:)
