I am computer challenged. I just got a new laptop. My iTunes are all on my old laptop. Is there any way to transfer my songs to my new laptop or do I have to re-download all of them? And how do I even download iTunes in the first place? I don't remember. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

If your new computer is running Vista, don't use iTunes or hook up your iPod until they get all that crap sorted out. That's my advice there.

But when you want to use it, just hook your iPod up to the computer. It does the rest. Mine did, anyway.

I don't think you understand just how computer challenged I am. :rotfl: What is Vista and how would I know if my computer had it?

you can migrate your songs from your existing itunes library to your new computer using your ipod. but it's only going to migrate purchased music from itunes. you'll need a third party program to rip anything that wasn't downloaded from itunes.

So in other words any songs I put onto my iTunes from CD's I own will not make the transfer but anything I bought directly off iTunes will?

I have had no problems using iTunes on Vista. In fact it was the first thing I got solved and so far no problems. In fact I heard a lot of bad stuff about Vista, but so far I LOVE it! It's got some cool feature.

OP -- I had to set my Ipod to use as a "hard drive" and then copy all of my songs to the Ipod and then manually drag them into the music folder. There is a page on Apple that explains it all, I believe someone previously posted it. Just follow the steps and it works! :thumbsup2

If your start button is a blue circle with the microsoft logo (wavy box with four colors), you're running Vista. If your start button is a big green blob that says "Start" on it, you have XP. If it is a grey box, you got gyped, lol.

If you have Vista, I wouldn't hook the iPod up until they get it worked out, which was supposed to be in March, so God knows when it will happen.

It pains me to say this, but Amity is absolutely right. I forgot about how I had to re-download all the songs that I didn't buy from iTunes. Just how I forgot that (big PITA), I don't know. But I can always count on Amity to let me know when I'm wrong. :teeth:

Not everyone has been so lucky.

Apple recommends not synching your iPod with Vista because lots and lots of people have had problems. Some were unlucky enough to have their iPods corrupted. If you check the Apple website, they'll tell you not to hook it up with Vista, too.

OP, you have the info. You make the call. :)

I've got the wavy button going on so looks like it's Vista. So now I have to wait? :sad1: I miss my music! Guess I could just listen to the actual iPod...
