It's time to make that 7 month ressie

Well Monday is the beginning of my 7 month mark for our huge family trip. I sit and look at my points charts every day and all the info I have on the resorts, but still I have no idea of what I am going to book. I guess when I call MS Monday morning I will book whatever pops out of my mouth. There will be 24 of us in all. If anyone has any last minute ideas please throw them out there.

Decisions, decisions!

A word of caution- not all of your guests will go on the trip, you can bet on it. I hope you are not taking everything on by yourself. Let them make their own reservations would be my advice. I have been on these boards for years and can tell you that I wish you good luck and get ready for one big head-ache. That is what is in store for you judging from others that have tried the same.

Thanks for the advice. I am prepared for 1 or 2 rooms not being used but I will know well in advance if they are not going. If anyone doesn't go it will be my sister and one cousin's family but we agreed ahead of time that anyone could back out as long as it was more than 45 days out.

This is imediate family and we are all very close so I am pretty sure it will go fairly well. We go to the lake together a couple of times a year and everyone is really excited about it. Work situations will be the only thing that interfere. These are actually the family members that I went on my very first Disney trip with and we are all really looking forward to it.

I am using my points as well as some rented points to cover the trip so that everyone that wants to can come along. For those that end up not being able to come my family is going back a couple of months later so we will be able to use any points that were cancelled.

I have been on trips with other family members before and know how some of those headaches can happen but I'm prepared for it. We actually just had a cancer scare with my dad but everything turned out okay. So needless to say I am very anxious to get him, my sister & niece, all of my kids, my aunt & her two boys and families down there together before it is to late.

It can't get here soon enough for me. But I am prepared for the worst too!

I was only inviting 14 people, and the total is now 11, but there are some different people coming to our grand gathering. I tried to use the borrowed points only for "my" villa, so that if there were cancellations, I could bank the freed up points. This worked out for me. I did wind up banking some points.

Just in case something happens to late to cancel ressies without going in to holding I will just increase the size of one or two of the rooms. At this point I plan to book 5 studios and a 2 bedroom for me, dh and my kids. If I need to I will change someone esles room to a 1 or 2 bed.

I just have to decide which resort I am going to book. Then patiently wait for 7 months to pass.

You may want to call on Friday to check on availability. That way you have the weekend to weigh your options.

If you don't have a strong feeling for any particular resort, I would go with OKW. The points are lower and the rooms are larger. If you are using studios, they have 2 beds instead of the bed and sofa/sleeper.
