Are the beds in the moderate resorts anymore comfortable than the beds in the value resorts?

Do not know about CSR, but CBR, POR and FQ have pillow top beds now :)

Have read some complaints about the beds, but we found them comfy.

We have wondered how often beds are replaced.

Hope this helps!

Hi Andre

I tried to visit the resort in your signature, but was unable to access it - is it still active? portorleans.org.

Yes, it should still be active.

I've checked the hosting company's support logs and there appear to have been a few connectivity issues with one of their servers over the last day or two which may have been causing your problem. Can you access it now?

Quick question:

My parents are staying at Shades of Green next month. This is their first time staying on Disney property; they've never taken the Disney buses either. Can they visit POR and fish there? If so what is the best way for them to get from SOG to POR? And please remind me, does POR rent fishing equipment?

Thank you for your help!

I don't know the best way to go from SOG to POR, but if they can get to any park, they can bus from there. POR does rent cane poles for fishing. You can fish at the Ol’ Man Island Fishin' Hole between 7:00 am and 2:30 pm. You can rent poles for $4.26 per half hour or you can rent a package for up to 6 people for $13.32 per half hour. If they prefer, they can book a fishing excursion at 407-939-BASS (2277). It's a two hour fishing excursion for up to 5 people for $225 - $250. :surfweb:

D'uh, sorry, the quickest way to get from SOG to POR is by car or cab. But if you want free and don't have a car, then bus to a park and then bus to POR.

Hi everyone!

I am just wondering how parking works at Disney. We'll be staying at POFQ in August.

Do we have to pay for parking if we want to drive to the parks, or do we get some sort of parking pass for the parks?

Also, can we park at the different resorts to look around/eat?

Thanks !

You will be given a parking pass at your resort. Keep it on your dash at all times. That pass entitles you to park at the parks. If you want to park at another resort then you will get a pass at that resort when you get there. It will normally have a time limit on for their resort.

Welcome and how exciting!! FQ is lovely - we'll be there in Augsut too :)

At check-in you will be given a resort ID that you can put in the window on the dashboard. Each time you come and go from FQ you will use your key card to get thru security. It will also allow free parking at all the parks - and other resorts.

You can visit other resorts, but not park there for the day - i.e. to visit a park from the resort. But you can have dinner or visit the resort.

You might want to try Disney's transportation system - it makes you feel you are really immersed in the magic! Some do not like the buses, but at least give it a try - especially going to the MK.

MK parking is on the other side of Lagoon, so you'd have to take the ferry or monorail with day visitors...or walk over the the Polynesian and take the monorail to MK from there...much easier to just hop a bus at FQ and be dropped at MK :)

One thing we enjoy , esp in the heat of the summer, is to leave MK, hop the monorail and visit the monorial resorts (even if we are staying in one we enjoy spending time at the others). You can take the monorial to each one and spend time wandering around, enjoying the ambiance, having lunch etc.

Don't overdo it in that August heat! ;) Take a break and get cooled down, then go back later. It will make such a difference. :)

Have a wonderfully magical visit!!!

Wow~!

THANKS for all the help, guys! I'm sure I'll have more questions soon enough!!

Have a great weekend!

For this time of year how early should we try to catch the bus in order to get to the MK before park opening?

Also, since the bus can fill up at POFQ and never arrive at POR do you ever walk over there to catch it?

Thjat is really not necessary. There are the same number of folks to get to the parks reagrdless where the bus picks them up. If one bus is full another comes right behind it usually.

If you're really worried, be at the main (South) bus stop about an hour before park opening time to allow for waiting for a bus, getting to the park and then walking to the gates.

Don't believe everything you hear from the doom-merchants. Yes, there can be issues at busy times, but Disney really do try not to leave people stranded and will put on extra buses when necessary. After all, it's in their best interest to get you into the park and spending money rather than leaving you standing at a bus stop!

Please forgive me if this has already been asked. can you see epcots fireworks from POR? :confused3

Hello everyone im new here.
Im very excited to stay at the Riverside. Im taking a 2 day vacation with my mom to MK and Epcot. I requested to be in the Oak or Parterre buildings because the rooms look so nice and it seems closer to the food court as well. Do you think my request will get fullfilled?
Oh and how does the year of a million dreams work? Does everyone automatically qualify?
thanxs!

Glad to hear you're excited! :cool1: You'll love it I'm sure. While Oak Manor is one of the closest mansions to the food court, Parterre Place is not closer than Magnolia Terrace. Parterre Place is also furthest from the main pool (if that matters to you). See the map here: http://www.wdwinfo.com/resortmaps/port-riverside.htm

Re your request for a particular building, to quote Goofy22: ...you could fax 5 days prior and 1 day -2 days prior you could call to make sure youre request is showing on youre ressie still! It's never a gaurantee always just a request!

Yes everyone in a park is eligible for the year of a million dreams. It works by just being in the right spot at the right time. Just go, have fun, and if you get picked by a dream team, count your blessings and if you don't, you'll still have an amazing time. Have fun! :surfweb:

Yes everyone in a park is eligible for the year of a million dreams.

Not completely true. There are only certain nationalities eligible for the prizes. If you're from the USA you're fine, but apparently you can wave goodbye to your castle suite stay if they find out you're from France (or most other places). The exact wording in the T&Cs is: "Void for persons who are not legal residents of the fifty (50) United States ("U.S."), District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, Canada, Mexico, the United Kingdom ("UK"), Australia, Japan". That technically applies to all prizes, but I'm guessing they don't bother asking for the minor ones.

I was vjust wondering about the size of the beds at POR as i will be sharing a bed with my sister:confused3 who tends to smack people in her sleep:bitelip: and would like to know what to expect ??? I have seen photos and the dont look very spacious but if anyone has any 1st hand experience then help would be appreciated .....:worship:

I know the bus comes from POFQ, then to POR, then onwards, but I cannot remember which way around the bus travels. We are going to have a wheelchair and would like to be near the first stop - we are not bothered about being near pools/food court, just that first bus stop. i.e. so we get on, go around the rest of POR and then onto whatever destination. Any tips?
