i did see ramps going to the buildings in ab sections. she may need to go up a different side of the building and ride past some doors to get to the right room, but she will be able to avoid the steps. maybe request first floor ab close to a ramp.

We'll be at PORS in Sept with my mom, who will be in an ECV. We really want to be in the Alligator Bayou section, but know they don't have elevators, so requested bottom floor, close to main building, and mentioned the ECV. However, looking at the pictures, even the bottom floors seem to all have steps. Are there ramps for ECVs in the Alligator Bayou buildings?
AB first floor is accessible; there may be some areas that have steps, but you can always find a ramp nearby any place that does have steps. So, you will be able to get there, just maybe not the most visible way.
You should call back and request "First Floor for Medical Reasons". You would think saying you have someone using an ECV would be enough, but they don't always make the connection that you need first floor rather than just want it. It is still a request, but the medical requests are filled before the general requests for first floor. Since there are probably not that many people who actually request first floor, you should have no problem getting it.

Thanks, Sue and Kxmeeh! We just really want the Alligator Bayou section. The Mansions don't interest us at all.

Trying to decide what resort to pick. I have stayed at CBR and CSR now I want to try POR. I am a little worried about the bus service, I will be staying the 8th-11th of July this will be the week after the 4th, DH and I are going on our first vacation without our DS. How is the bus service? We have never had a problem at either CBR or CSR, but it has always worked out that we have been the first pick-up at both resorts.

We were there during spring break and the busses were great. We never waited more than 15 minutes. Most the time, we were running to the bus as it was already there waiting.

Since this will be our first time going, I'm totally new to this whole bus thing!!

When going to the parks from POR, do the buses generally pick up at other hotels besides POFQ??

And on the way back, same thing??

Is the waiting at north and east depots as horrible as I've heard??

Kileybeth, she will be 3 by then, so no luck. Thats ok, I can rub my husband's nose in it. That we didn't go when she was still free:laughing:

That sounds mean...

So, I've done a lot of planning so far and we've figured out a lot. Now is the hardest part. The waiting!!! We won't be going until next April/May. But I know it will go so fast. I just want to go right now!!!

Everything I read seems to imply that POR is the best mod to stay at. All the posts are very helpful and positive!:woohoo:

I think it depends on season and time of day. We were at the east depot for morning EMH every day during spring break a couple of years back and never had a problem. There were a couple of times coming back when it was standing room only but it didn't bother us at all. The bus only picks up and drops off (first) at POFQ it doesn't share with other resorts. :surfweb:

Heading to POR just made my reservations this morning. Thanks everyone for taking the time to answer all the questions. First trip for DH and I with no kids. Now I need to start making my ADR's. Doing a happy dance.:cool1:

I'm sorry if this as already been asked and answered, I honestly didn't read all 133 pages of the thread. I was wondering if anything special can be delievered to the room at POR. This will be our first stay at this resort and we'll be celebrating 3 birthdays and a college graduation while there and I would love to have a cake or something like the white chocolate Mickey with strawberries delievered to the room as a suprise. Is this possible at this resort?

You can all go down to the restaurant and have dessert there. You can order a cake ahead of time. Call the restaurant. I don't know if they deliver.

Special cakes can be ordered via the POR bakery. Mostly these are baked and prepared by the Boardwalk Bakery for most of the resort hotels I seem to recall, and then sent over for you. They required 48 hours notice when we asked two years ago.

Here is the link to the "official Cake thread" http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1173219

I ordered a cake during our trip but not delivered to POR it was delivered to GF.

You may get several answers to this depending on who you talk to at POR. POR bakery makes the small (6" I think) round cakes that will just say "Happy Birthday" or something on them. If you want the chocolate covered strawberries, call Boardwalk Bakery and ask them how to have them delivered to POR, or a different kind of cake. A POR CM told me that they couldn't be delivered to POR but I then called the Boardwalk and they told me that they could. If I remember correctly, BB is the only place that will deliver cakes and such to POR.

I'm looking at requesting buildings 27 or 38 in AB.

For blding 27 is it loud from the pool?

For blding 38, how long of a walk is it to a quiet pool?

thanks in advance..

We were in building 85, our room was about the same distance to the pool as building 27. It was too far to hear any noise (distance and trees in the way, actually).

The walk from building 38 should only be 2-5 minutes depending on how slowly/quickly you walk. (Teenager? Full speed? 20 seconds! :rotfl: )

I am starting my 2009 honeymoon plans and want to stay in the mansions. I have stayed here several times with my parents from Dixie Landings to the merger last time in 2002 :sad1: . It is one of my favorites and the future DH has never been to Disney so this will be extra special. I was wondering if anyone knows if this resort does anything special for honeymooners? Who else has honeymooned here? Is getting a King really worth the extra money (for 10 nights around $500)? Thanks for the help :worship:

We spent 11 days at POR in March. I think this was our 5th stay at this particular resort. Can you tell my family loves it? Took a walk with DH one morning and took bunches of pictures to post on this thread. Forgot about them until today. They are all outdoors pics. I can never get a pic of the inside of a room, because as soon as we open the door and rush in it becomes major chaos. The room doesn't stay clean long enough for me to get the camera out to take a photo. Here are a few:
