This will be our first time at POR, I thought I read something that said the grey path lead you to the pool/foodcourt ~ does anyone if that is true?:)

Nevermind, I found out my own answer on Allears!

How do I keep from getting disoriented along the winding paths of Alligator Bayou?

In Alligator Bayou, look for gray concrete walkways. These run directly from the parking lot to the Sassagoula. The other colored paths will eventually get you where you are going, if you don't mind taking the scenic route! Also, there are signs at every junction, clearly pointing the way to wherever you need to go.

Thanks anyway!!:flower3:

We'll take the scenic route - that's why we're ther after all! Thanks for all the good POR info - we're heading there for first time in April. It's almost March, it's very, very cold and snowy here in Buffalo, NY and the kids are really starting to get excited about going....

We are staying there in April too, this is our 3rd time at POR. My almost 3 year old son says to me before, GO NOW!!!! He was getting mad when I told him he needed to wait 47 more days. Didn't want to hear it. I told him that Disney was closed now because its so cold outside.

I am calling this afternoon to switch reservations from POP to POR. I'm thrilled to be headed to POR for the first time! It'll be just me and my sister on a girls only trip.

I have read so many mixed reviews about the buses. This is really the only concern I have. We will be there 8/13 to 8/17. I'm assuming since this is still summer that the resort will be booked to capacity. What has the bus situation been like during August in previous years? If we head to the parks early will we have to wait for a bus seat?

Also, has anyone gone to Boma at AKL for breakfast from POR on the bus? What is the easiest route there? We will have a car and I've thought about driving versus even bothering with the buses that day. Any thoughts?

I'm staying onsite for the first time in May but it my understanding transportation does not go from resort to resort. You'll have to go to AK then take a bus to AKL. You might be better off taking your car.

Hi Everyone, we are headed back to POR for our 2nd stay and very excited. But I need some sympathy, I have been trying to add a day to our reservation (on th efront end) for 4 days straight now and no availability no matter how early in the am I call. I am so sad as it was to be a short trip anyway. since it is coming up in just under one month I am beginning to think since it is spring break time we are not going to get in. I am so sad. I so need to add one night (March 31st) so we can take advantage of EMH that day. Otherwise we will be off site and I so do not want to do that! We will have already been "on the road" for 6 nights by this time for buisness and family visits so ending on Disney is to be a fun ending to a long trip moving around every few nights.

Keep your fingers crossed for me. Any ideas what I might do other than checking online reservations every hour or two and calling at 7am and at least once more a day?? We need POR for the trundle room.

Anyone else going first week in April?

:wave2: Hi There sl_underwood

we will be the ones with DS15, DD12, DS5 and DD2, and DH and myself. Look for the extremely tired "older parents" who are often accused of being "grandparents" when we are out with just our 2 and 5 year old! :rotfl: it's all good though as we have been enjoying Disney for years now way back to when DS26 and DS21 were little guys!

Maybe we'll catch you at the pool or strolling over to POFQ for beignets, yummo! I can hardly wait.

We will be the ones with a 14 yo, 11 yo and a 4 yo who carries around his curious george doll everywhere. We will be staying at POR and will be attending the P&P Party on the 4th!

My only advice would be to keep trying. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.

Have you tried for the family suite at Allstars? Might beat off site. We will keep our fingers crossed for you.

  oh yeah, oh yeah, I got it! Actually I called Friday am at 6:59am and a few seconds more :rotfl: and as I was waiting to get through I noticed a waterview room was available on line, I didn't know whether to snag it or wait for the CM to pick up!

He picked up, saw the same room I guess and we booked it. Later that day I had a question about tickets and called back (around 2pm) and they had a standard room pop up as I was talking to the CM (one I had talked to before and she remembered me) so I changed once again. whew! one room, standard view, 4 nights. I am tired but satisfied. We will be right around the corner off site the night before (with family) so I am planning on checking in early enough to get our KTTK and make it to EMH that morning! woo-hoo. I'll be so ready to fall into bed that night!

I'll be looking for curious george! no party for us tho, this is suppose to be a "sneak it in budget trip" since we are in town anyway and we just stayed at the POLY last Sept. It already feels decadent to be going back so soon!

about the family suite, $275 a night for the night I needed. and not available anyway. Only thing I could have booked was 2 reg rooms at ASMo for $5 more total price on a triple A rate. I might have gone that route in a few more days tho i'm telling you! The eye candy alone would have made it okay for my preschoolers I just know we will be mostly limited to off site or values after this trip (youngest turns 3) so really wanted this moderate stay.

only 29 days until POR!

Hello everyone. I just wanted to add my review of POR. Dh, DS-3 and I just spent a weak in Oak Manor at por. The grounds and everything about the resort was beautiful. But, imo, the room left much to be disired. I expected more for what you pay to stay there. The room was a decent size, my big problem with it was the lack of attention to cleanliness. The tops of most things, including the headboards, mirrors and tv cabinet, were very dusty. The bathroom area floor is a mosaic tile and desperatly needed a good scrub to clean the grout between the tiles, the wood wall area behind the sinks was filthy, there was mold in the grout in the shower, mostly above eye level, and there were spots on the ceiling above the shower, I think they may have been dead bugs. The room had a general feel of really needed a good overhall. We mostly stay at budget hotels when we do travel (whick is not often), this room was not as nice as most holiday inn or best westerns we have stayed in.
That said, the grounds were georgeous, we were one of the farthest building from the main are, but the walk was minimal, the pools were great, dining was great, and we had great luck with the buses, never having to wait very long. I think that for the amount of time we spent in the room, I would probably go for a budget resort if we go again, and use the extra cash for spending. Hope the infor helps anyone trying to decide were to stay!!!! Happy vacationing!

Thinking of staying at PO again. I have a question, this time I will be looking to have a room for five adults. It has been awhile since I stayed at Port Orleans and the last time was with four. Has anyone stayed there with five in a room, and if so how did it work out. We might go with two rooms just for bathroom reasons, especially with five women. Just trying to get some idea before booking. DS works in Disney and will be helping us book our room, just trying to figure out which route we want to go with. thanks:flower3:

:wizard: My 23 yr. old daughter and I are planning our August trip and are considering the POR. We love CBR but because of the pool renovation we thought maybe we should try something different. We have never visited the POR on our other stays so have no idea which building to request or where the best place to be is. We have been looking at all the pictures online and like the look of the mansions. For the first time visiting WDW we are not renting a car and were wondering about the bus service. If we make dinner reservations at one of the other resorts, will the bus take us to that resort or do we have to go to the TTC?
Any advice would be appreciated....Thanks pixiedust:

I think you might have to do the 2 rooms. the AB section can sleep 5 but the trundel bed is on the floor and not as long as a regular bed. And 5 women 1 bath....:rotfl: Are you crazy??!! Just kidding. I think the 2 rooms would just give you more room besides the extra bath.

We were at POR in Sept 2007 and stayed in the AB section building 18. There were 5 of us. It was close to everything. It was very rustic looking, like a log cabin. The grounds were lush and beautiful. I don't know about the mansion sections.

When we were there the busses do not run from resort to resort. You either have to go to the TTC or DTD or one of the parks (after the parks close then DTD is your best bet). The front desk was very helpful in giving us ways to get to Hoop Dee Doo Review for dinner one night.... though we ended up taking are car since Fort Wilderness was right around the corner and it was easier and quicker to drive

We will be staying at POFQ Nov 27-Dec 2. I am requesting buildings 2 or 5. Anybody have a fav location? Also could anyone who has been there recently give us a rundown of their experience?:)
