It's the Poly. Kids wouldn't let us stay anywhere else...

I had asked fellow Dis'ers a month or two ago about YC, WL and CR. Got great info and wonderful advice.

Well, comes time to run it by the kids. I know, I know, we're the adults here, but I like them to be part of the planning. Oh, by the way. They will be 6 and 5 when we go in late June.

My DW and I thought they would just love YC and SAB. We both kind of wanted to try WL. We have stayed at the Poly the last two years and loved it. Can't say enough good things about the place. We've also tried AKL and CSR. I even was thinking CR(Chef Mickey's is a family favorite).

We told them we might stay somewhere else this trip. We went to the Disney site and showed them the videos of the different places.

They just kept saying they wanted to stay at "Disney". The 5 year old wouldn't even look at the other spots. When we got to the Poly, the 6 year old started saying "Disney, Disney, Disney". The 5 year old came over and flatly stated that's where she wanted to stay. Nowhere else. They think the Poly is Disney.

Well, we're booked for 8 nights at the Poly. Before you say that the kids run this place, let me tell you that I, on my own, booked a three night stay at WL before we check in at the Poly. I'll try these other resorts no matter how stubborn they are.

Maybe next time we can go WL and somewhere else. I dunno. The Poly is pretty hard to beat.

DW just came in and read this. She just laughed and shook her head. We're putty in their hands.

Anyway, We're ging to Disney World!

Pfffft! I'm not buying it! I bet you and your DW used psychosomatic influencing. I can see you both now... every night as the kids are asleep you lean down and gently whisper in their ears in a monotone relaxed voice "The Poly *IS* Disney" "The Poly *IS* Disney" "The Poly *IS* Disney" "The Poly *IS* Disney" and then your wife takes over "We MUST stay at The Poly" "We MUST stay at The Poly" "We MUST........" etc. etc.

So how long did ye have to do that before it paid off??

Well.... We do point out how much fun we had. The pool. Ohana. Seeing the castle. And on and on and on. Just the stuff that makes the Poly so great.

But they should want to try something different.

My 6 y/o threatens to not go to WDW if we don't stay at the Poly. She refuses to try the GF and don't get her started on the All Stars Arena, and she so kindly puts it, she isn't having any of it!

My kids are slightly older than yours (they're 17 and 14) and THEY also chose the Polynesian! I told them they could choose ANY resort, and they chose the Polynesian resort.

When we were in WDW in 2001 we stayed at the Grand Floridian and had a couple of meals at the Kona Cafe. After dinner one night we asked a Front Desk CM to show us around, and a room, and that's when we all decided we wanted to stay at the Polynesian next time!

So, for this trip, we're staying the first two nights at the Wilderness Lodge concierge because the Polynesian concierge was not available for all of the nights of our trip, and this also will satisfy my DH's desire to stay there, then we'll move over to the Polynesian lagoon view concierge!

Sounds like my DD's (15 & 7). They say "No Poly? No go!" But then again DH says the same thing so we'll go again May '06, can't wait!

We let my children decide also -- well, we call it a "family decision". Despite the fact that we have stayed the last two years at the Poly, my kids were willing to try someplace else. We gave them a choice of AKL or WL. OK, so we mentioned that at AKL we would have to take a bus everywhere and that the WL was a boat ride to MK but that was the only swaying we used.

I think if I can ever get them to SAB and YC, we'll have a chance to stay there someday.

Although. the Poly is pretty hard to beat.

We just decided today to stay at the Poly when we go next March. Is there a favorite area that we should look into?

The landscaping, theming, views, pool, food - everything.

Well it's not only my kids but my DH who doesn't want to stay anywhere but GF. I almost had a split stay this year, but then something kept coming up so our WDW is 11 nights at GF, 4 nights at HRH and 2 nights at Nick Hotel. I blame us because we started their DIsney experience at GF a few years ago and now that's what they associate with Disney. At Universal they associate Hard Rock - it's all what you get used to. BTW my kids are 4, 6 and 7 but they know what they like. Not that I'm complaining I LOVE the GF!

My family is the same way!! My dh says "oh only deluxe will do" so I tell him about AKL AND WL and he says, "no I meant the Polynesian!!" Have to admit, the themeing, transportation and now those ultra nice new rooms will be very very hard to beat!! Not including the square footage of the rooms!!

I loved every second there...

Fiji was a great location btw
