remfam5: It was a great last day. It was good to have DH pull us all out of feeling sorry for ourselves. We wouldn't have had as much fun if we had just kept thinking about it being our last day.

We woke up late the next morning without an alarm clock or wake up call. We ate breakfast and then went through the undaunted task of packing up our things. We added 2 extra bags to the checked luggage pile by the time we were through. The kids were packed and ready to go.
We took everything down to the remote flight check in desk and were checked in quickly. It was about 10:30 and we had until 3 before the Magical Express bus picked us up. DH asked the kids what they wanted to do before we left. Ride Splash Mountain! they all screamed in unison. So we decided to spend our last few hours at our favorite family ride.
The bus to the MK was crowded. It was the first time the whole family had to stand on the bus. It was alright. My DH spent the time talking to man next to him. They had just arrived the night before.
The bus should have been an indication on what the park was going to look like that day. It was July 3rd. And boy was it crowded! There were people everywhere. It was hard to maneuver our way around to get to Splash Mountain. We grabbed FPs and decided to take a long lunch. We made our way back to Pinocchio Haus to eat. It was relatively uncrowded compared to the streets filled with people. We sat up on the second level and ate a very quiet meal. Nobody was really in the mood for lots of talk.
After that, we went to ride Splash Mountain. This time DH and I rode together and the kids rode in front of us. DH confessed to me that he was getting a little tired of this ride and that he didnt want to be wet and smelly for the plane ride home. He rode it again for the kids though.
The kids giggled the whole way through the ride. When we went down into the Laughin Place, my DH and all the people on the right side of the boat got a great surprise though. One of the waterspouts didnt turn off, so the whole side of the boat got soaked. All of us on the left laughed of course.
We got off the ride and I saw a little girl who had lost her mom. A CM was calming her down. I could see how they could get lost. There were people everywhere.
DH decided that we should all buy new shirts since I had accidentally packed all our clothes in the checked luggage. So we wandered towards Main Street to go shopping. On the way I saw a woman on a motorized
scooter. She was speeding down the sidewalk honking her little horn at people if they got in her way. Im surprised she was able to maneuver around with all the people standing around.
We bought ourselves new shirts and bought the kids a last pin. It was then time to make our way back to the hotel. We wanted to give ourselves enough time to get back before the Magical Express bus left.
We hung out in the hotel lobby for about 30 minutes before it was time for us to get on the bus to the airport. We were all sad to leave, but excited to see our cats and sleep in separate rooms again.
We hopped on the Magical Express bus at 3:00 for our 6:20 flight, stopping at Pop Century to pick up first. We had a quiet and uneventful trip to the airport where we got to wait.
Our flight home was uneventful. We landed in Kansas City at about 11 p.m. and waited a good 30 minutes before a shuttle bus came by to take us to long-term parking. Tink kept us entertained by singing Im waiting for the red bus, the red bus, the red bus. I hope thats a red bu-u-u-s, I want to go home.
Everyone waiting in line enjoyed listening to her song along with us. The people waiting with us talked to the kids about our trip. It was a perfect end to a perfect trip.
Next up: Final thoughts and my birthday surprise from WDW.
