It's SNOWING

We've had pretty bad snow here! We went out yesterday and some of the roads were really slippy, in fact DH slid right into a parked car lucckily he was going really slowly so there was no damage. When we got home we couldn't drive up the avenue so we had to leave the car parked at the side of the road! I don't know when we'll be able to get the car up to our house, but I don't think that it'll be in the next day or so!

We haven't had any more snow here yet - looks bad for tonight :cold:

I skidded round a round-about this morning, black ice all over :scared1: I also had a plonked pull out on me as I was doing 40-50mph :sad2: Why not wait a few more seconds :confused3

Stay safe everyone, nice if you don't have to go out but it sucks having to leave early in the am for work when I could be snuggled up at home :sad1:

I am really pleased that I finished work last friday as it meant this morning I could stay snuggled up instead of having to fight to get to work in the snow. We still have a lot although it hasnt snowed again since last night.

At one point yesterday we had a flash of lightening and roar of thunder in the snow - Ive never seen that before

It's still snowing hard here. I've finished work early and I'm glad I did, vehicles were skidding sideways all the way home and they were driving at a very slow sensible speed. I just hope it doesn't freeze hard over night or it will be a skating rink in the morning.

It's just taken me 2 hours 45 minutes to get home from work - a journey which normally takes about 20-25 minutes. The roads weren't even that bad but there were a couple of periods of about 15 minutes each where the traffic just wasn't moving at all and I turned the engine off.

Funnily enough I'm a lot calmer tonight than I am on nights when I'm only about 5 minutes late. :confused3 :lmao:

I've driven from B'ham to Surrey today. The M40 was a mess. There was a band of snow just past Oxford just as I drove into that cutting part (don't know what it's called) and drove out into Narnia. The roads weren't gritted at all - very nasty. It took me an extra 2 hours to get home.

Reading was mad, cars abandoned on the side of the road, traffic at a standstill. I wonder what tomorrow will bring.

We have been so lucky so far, as we've only had a few flurries, and I really hope it stays that way too. Take care if you're heading out today everyone

The roads aren't to bad this morning. the temperature went up a bit and the snow is melting. once you get onto the main roads they are clear in our area.

We had another 3 inches late last night. We still have lots on the ground from Friday as it has been too cold to start melting, it is so slippery. :sad2:

If your going out in it today then I hope you'll all be safe. :wizard:

Last night was CRAZY!!! in the morning the hotel had only 5 booking (xmas time) by 6pm we were fully booked and we have 30 rooms!!

Wow you must have had a lot of snow.

Really bugs me when the hotels cash in on the stranded people. Good on your work place charging less. People remember these kind acts and will return and give all the hotels cashing in a miss.

Keep safe everyone:wizard:

We were out last night and it was coming down quite a bit - saw 1 guy pull out of a T junction and instead of turning left he just went straight into the opposite curb :sad2: But it stopped just after we got in and I don't think we had any more :woohoo: roads were much clearer overall - hoping it will melt today and overnight :thumbsup2

that's interesting as my route on the M40 took me past High Wycome. It was very bad on the motorway but we never came to a complete standstill (1 mile per hour in places :scared1:) but as soon as we got to the m25 it was as if a switch had been flicked and I was doing 50 or 60 mph. Admittedly I came off a junction 11 as I believe there were serious problems further round.

What made me really cross was that we were overtaken on the hard shoulder by a gritting lorry but there was no sign of it later. A man with a shovel would have been quicker than the traffic was moving.

We have been on GMTV this morning!!

saw that

we have a ton of snow here too,the buses are still not running here, not looking forward to trying to get around today and hoping Hubby can get Home

We have a beautiful bright day today. The sky is pure blue. Although it is still very cold about -3 at the moment. Everywhere looks beautiful in the snow but now it has gone really icy too. My youngest 2 school is closed but oldest DS's isn't so you can imagine his mood this morning :rotfl2:

Snow went slushy yesterday evening, then it rained, froze over overnight and then started snowing again. Roads are treacherous, council not gritting roads at all and so I am stuck in the house fed up as buses not running and I'm too scared to drive. I need to get out and finish my christmas shopping!

Hasn't snowed in Glasgow for about 3 days.....until about half an hour ago when a blizzard started again! I'm quite happy about this today as I'm off work but I know I won't be enjoying it tomorrow when I'm back at work :(
