Its Snowing in Austin Texas

An Ice storm closed our offices in Austin, so I am working from home (just north of Austin in Round Rock) today. I just looked out my window and its snowing here! Not a common event for us folks who live deep in the heart of Texas.

I grew up in Georgetown and I still have a picture from when it snowed one year.

We got maybe 2 inches and we went cross country skiing at Southwestern

That's my fault.

I was visiting one of my best friends in Georgetown this weekend, and just flew back to NYC/CT last night. Her fiance blamed me for bringing New England down to Texas...we couldn't believe it was actually warmer in CT than it was in TX!!

Hope the weather clears up for you soon...I know that it was NOT pretty yesterday!!

Oh I'm hoping it makes it all the way to my area!! The kids were crushed this morning when they woke up and found out that they did, indeed, have to go to school. Of course I don't have to get out and drive in it either...

I live in Bryan/College Station and we had a ton of closing. We have sleet right now with LOTS of ice!

God has a sense of humor when it's 70 degrees for my January 6 wedding in New Jersey, and snowing in Texas.

Yep, I'm seeing snow outside my window too!

I was driving back to Austin from New Orleans last night and made it home just before things got really bad (although there was already ice on I-35).

They cancelled classes at both UT and Texas State today, so I'm spending the day in front of my DVR!

San Antonio is pretty much shut down. No school, most businesses are closed. You know its bad when a military installation closes! Key personnel only at Ft. Sam Houston today.

My dds were hoping for snow but all we have is rain and ice...it is really yucky out!

I'm afraid there is barely enough snow in our yard to make a snow statuette, much less a snowman. If their yard is anything like ours, it sounds like a challenging job, but I bet they had fun trying!

I'm about to go check on their progress. It's likely to be no more than 3 inches tall

It's just a lot of sleet here in San Antonio! But it was enough to close nearly everything down. Today was supposed to be first day back for my spring semester but classes were cancelled and will most likely be cancelled tomorrow as we are supposed to be getting a "wintery mix." Nice that we're finally getting some actual winter-type weather here in Texas

Another voice from Katy, it may not be snowing but it sure is cold. I think we are supposed to get the freezing rain tonight, so maybe all the kids can get out of school tomorrow.

They just shut down our San Antonio office. I make jokes that they close in Houston and San Antonio when the vending machine gets low so I am glad it is legitimate this time. Meanwhile, here in Dallas our office has not shut down in the 15 years I have been here.

You must not be in the same part of town as me! My backyard is covered in a layer of ice!
