It's Pam's Fault . . . Updated 7/10 Chapter 7: DDs Princess Day!

KANGA! I'm so excited for you all - you're on your way to a fantastic time! I'm sorry to hear your DMIL may not be able to join you. Any update on that?
I do have a couple lounge recommendations for your DM and her DBF...
Back in the days before my DS arrived, I really enjoyed Martha's Vineyard at the Beach Club, the Belle Vue Room at Boardwalk, and the Territory Lounge at Wilderness Lodge. All are cozy and intimate feeling and I never saw very many people in them.

Looking forward to more!

It's not looking good for DMIL & Disney, we'll know more tomorrow after her appointment with the neurosurgeon. I have a feeling even if her surgery isn't right away, they may not want her flying and walking 5+ miles per day. We'll see . . .

Thanks for the suggestions! I am going to pass your recommendations on to my DM--I am sure she will appreciate them. It's the one area that I did not cover in all my research because post-kiddies, I'm a total light weight. I swear church wine makes me tipsie. LOL!

Great news!!! :goodvibes My DMIL met with a team of two neurosurgeons today who said she has to have the surgery soon, but it can wait until she gets back from Disney!!! No rides because of the jarring effect, however except something like It's a Small World. At least she'll get to do that with the kids. Does anyone know what other rides don't have a lot of movement like IASW???

That's terrific news!!! Here's a list of everything I can think of off-hand that just rolls along like IASW:
Magic Kingdom:
Winnie the Pooh
Peter Pan
Snow White
Haunted Mansion
Pirates of the Caribbean (there is a very small drop at the beginning, though)
Jungle Cruise
Buzz Lightyear

Epcot
Mexico boat ride (BUT, sometimes, the boats stack up at the end and bump each other.)
Journey into Imagination
Living with the Land
Soarin (no jerky movement, but more gliding)
Universe of Energy
Living Seas with Nemo
*I'd steer clear of Spaceship Earth. It does move slowly, but it's become very jerky lately.

And, of course, she'll be able to enjoy all the theater-style attractions, too. I think she'll find lots more she can do than she can't!

Unfortunately, El Rio del Tiempo will be closed when KangaFan and I are there.

Also in Disney MGM, isn't The Great Movie Ride pretty smooth? I forget.

Great trip report!! :thumbsup2 We'll be overlapping our trips a bit - I'll be on the lookout for you all! Sounds like a magical trip with so many family members coming along - that's great news that your DMIL will be coming along after all!! :)

PrincessV: Thanks for the great list!!! Disney is probably the only theme park you could go to with such restrictions and still have plenty to do! Especially with all the shows, although I'll probably keep her out of It's Tough to be a Bug! ;)

Amber: They are only going to be with us for 4 days and they didn't have plans to do MGM, but that may change now that they are so restricted on rides. Maybe we'll do an afternoon at MGM just for Beauty & the Beast, Muppets, etc.

Emily: Welcome! Now that I've seen your picture, we'll be looking for you, too! How long are you staying?

Any of you take any teasing on your itinerary and/or binder??? Well, I am getting it on all fronts. DH, being the worst tells everyone that I'm allowing him to pee between 10:15 & 10:18 am on Saturday. Well, yesterday, he took the teasing to a new level and actually WEIGHED my binder and said, "Well looks like we can only put 47 more pounds in that suitcase." I tried not to laugh, didn't want to encourage his teasing, but I had to admit it was funny. However, he committed a major sin when he asked, "Do we REALLY need all this stuff???" But of course.

I did realize that we don't need to have all of it with us at all times, however. Some things are just for reference in case I have to change the game plan because of rain, etc. So, borrowing an idea from a gal on the TGM board, I created 4 little mini guides using 4x6 photo albums and printed the essentials (itinerary, DDP restaurant/snack station lists & January show times) and put them in the books. Here are a few pics:

I stayed up waaay too late last night and spent most of the time I was supposed to use for laundry, etc today doing this, but I think they will come in handy. :thumbsup2

BTW, where did you find those albums?

Where did you find the clip art?

And what is the TGM board?

Thanks!

The albums were 98 cents each at Joann Fabrics

I got the clip art from various sources, the director Mickey & the Safari Mickey came from

The Epcot logo from

The Magic Kingdom Castle from

TGM stands for Tour Guide Mike, a DIS sponsor who you can subscribe to for park touring advice--how to minimize lines, etc. There's a forum on his site, too so you can share tips, etc with others who have subscribed since you are not supposed to share them on other forums. If you haven't heard of him before, I would definitely check out his site for at least for your next vacation, he really seems to know what he's talking about!

Thanks for the positive feedback! DH likes to get me going and knowing how long I had worked on these, he said, "Do you think you can do something else, these don't fit in my pocket?" I promptly threatened to bop him on the head with my 3 pound binder! LOL!

LOL! I was just at Joann's Thursday night, but I just went to buy patches for DH's cargo pants.

Thanks for the links! I think I'll be making the albums, too! :thumbsup2

Now I know what you mean about TGM, but I've only seen the forum. I didn't know you could subcribe to something. Oh well, maybe next trip.

Emily: Welcome! Now that I've seen your picture, we'll be looking for you, too! How long are you staying?

Hi! We'll be there 1/17 - 1/27 - first 4 nights at POP & last 6 nights at Caribbean Beach Resort. Only 2 more days - we can't wait!!! :yay:

Hey Emily! We'll be at the Caribbean Beach from the 19th to the 25th, then we head off for our cruise.

Maybe we'll see each other?

What a great pre-TR so much detail. Your albums are so good, I've just joined TGM and need to spend several days on there just reading. :surfweb: Have a great trip, I'll look forward to reading about it when you get back.

Lan: Thanks! The excitement is really building here in the Kanga household. We intend to have a GREAT time!

DisneyJo: Thanks so much for your kind words. I was going for something between Spartan and "why in the world is this lady telling us this?" ;) Glad that you enjoyed it! It's hard to believe it's only 5 days away! It really has gone fast. Definitely spend some quality time with TGM--it's such a great resource and another great message board community!

:dance3: :dance3: 5 days until you are there!!! :dance3: :dance3:

Thanks for the "cha cha's" as my kiddies call them! :thumbsup2

I am so excited, I can hardly stand it and yet, in a way, I don't want it to come because I'm afraid once it's here, I'll blink and it will be over.

At least I'll have my trippie so I can relive the magic!

Your month will fly by I am sure! Thanks for reading!

I feel the exact same way. I actually said to DH yesterday that I wish we had more time before we go. I am just worried that the anticipation has been killing me for so long that when I'm there, it's all going to feel surreal.

Maybe I'm crazy! :rolleyes1
