It's our "Last" Trip to WDW, so we're going DELUXE! *We're Back After 11 Days in WDW*

I am so sad too--I was hoping Ariel's Grotto would stay open as I know DD would love it. She really wants to meet Ariel. She still will but without her tail. I was shocked by how soon they are starting to close things. :(

Hey there! We are going to be in WDW for 1 night (better than nothing, right) on April 30. My parents are staying at Beach Club and we'll be staying with them that night. Will you be at Beach Club that night? I can't remember your schedule and I'm too lazy to go look. :rotfl:

Our plan is to drive up early Friday morning and spend an hour or so at Animal Kingdom and the rest of the day at Epcot (with a break to hang out at the pool/resort). Saturday we will be at DHS before driving home late afternoon. :)

I agree with you - I would take the tail over Prince Eric any day - LOL!

Yay!!!! Whoo hoo!!!:goodvibes We will be there at the same time. We are definitely planning on spending some time at the pool the afternoon you are checking in, so I expect we will likely see you there!:) I will drop you a line before we leave!;)

Say it isn't so...Stormalong Bay Rehab during our Stay!!!

It's official. All the May YC-BC guests can blame me for the Stormalong Bay rehab...I was just too smug in announcing the lack of significant rehabs during our trip.

Looks like the slide at Stormalong Bay will be down for our stay. Or at least all of it except for our 1st day. And yes, I am thanking our lucky stars for that!;)

Of course, it could be worse. The pool is remaining open, so we will still have a great time using SAB. Still a little disappointing though that we won't have a slide.

I just hope that the construction work won't be too loud or too much of an eyesore. SAB is so beautiful, and my family has never experienced it before. I hope the slide rehab and construction won't take away from the rest of the experience at SAB.

On the positive side (because you have to look at that, right?) with the BW pool being opened to YC and BC guests during the rehab, maybe crowds will be lower at the rest of SAB, which would be nice.

Now there is no doubt whatsoever that our 1st day at the BC will at least be a partial pool day before this thing goes down!;)

I've read about that on a couple of other PTRs as well, that's too bad! I'd be pretty bummed myself if it were closed while I was staying there, not to mention I'd probably be too afraid to go use that creepy clown slide at BWI! :scared1:

Ok, I am completely hyperventilating over this discovery  What are the dates of the rehab? We are going in May and staying two days before the cruise, with the entire point of the stay being Stormalong Bay :sad2:

I also read about that closure. You are right to look on the bright side. Another thing - most of that slide is actually across the walkway far from the actual pool. The part near the pool is covered with trees pretty well. So I am guessing the construction won't be too bad.

Maybe they're just painting?

Yeah, I have to admit I am not a big clown fan either. But if we close our eyes, I hear it is actually a pretty awesome slide!

First off, welcome to my TR!:goodvibes I didn't know you had another trip in the works...I hope you do another Dining Report. I think your report is one of only 2-3 dining reports I have ever read here on the Dis. (Heatherlynn's would be the other that comes to mind!)

Anyway, I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but sadly the slide is going down May 2, and won't be returning until "late May". :sad2: You can read more about it on the Yacht and Beach Club thread.

Thanks for the reminder! Continuing to look on the bright side!:upsidedow

Unfortunately they are not just painting...something about the friction on the slide is up and people are not getting enough water or traction to get down the slide properly. So I am looking forward to all kinds of wedgies when I try the thing out on May 1st!:rotfl:

As a guest at BWI can I blame you for the crowds there?

Loved your Easter cake!

I was wondering who's fault it was....

We're :sad2: too..But on reflection, we get to use the rest of the pool and pool hop across to the BW clown pool.

Yes, and it will just give us all one more reason to return, right?;)

Now I am jealous!! Easier for you North of the Border...than for me DownUnder with half a world between me and Orlando :rotfl:

That just is not fair! Sorry to hear it, hopefully you enjoy boardwalks pool. :cool1: But I know it will not be the same :sad2:

That really stinks! Stormalong Bay would be one of the main selling points for that resort for me. :sad2:

So sorry the slide is closed. I would love to stay there one day so we can experience it. Maybe someday...:cloud9:

That stinks that the slide will be closed! We had the opposite happen to us in 08... we were staying BW and their pool closed, but using SAB was a nice perk. You have to def take advantage of the slide the first day, it's really fun! But BW slide is cute too :)

Actually, it shouldn't be so bad. The pool is the main thing. The slide is just icing!:)

Yes, it is disappointing. But at least we will still be swimming in SAB!

sorry about the slide but thank heavens the rest of the pool is open!

Absolutely! Yes, it certainly could have been worse.;)

Yes, I am really looking forward to using SAB. The slide would have been nice, but I guess it is not as bad as the whole pool (or part of the pool) being closed. Definitely put YC-BC on your list of places to visit...:cloud9:

Yes, you are right! We can legitimately pool-hop this trip! I love trying out new stuff, and none of us (myself included) have ever stayed at BW or swam in their pool.:thumbsup2
