It's Official!

Well I Did It! I just booked my first DVC stay. As of today I have a Girls Week scheduled for January at the OKW. We have a 1 BR and I am so excited!

I booked near HH and I guess since reading other posts I am trying to figure out if that was a good choice. We will not be renting a car and I do have a problem walking long distances. I will most likely have a walking cast on 1 foot. So any suggestions or comments?

Also, I have seen comments regarding elevators in buildings...is it possible to request a room on the ground floor? I don't necesarily need a handicap room as my 2 companions are physically fine, but I would prefer to not have to walk up steps (this causes some pain for me). Again, any suggestions or comments?

Booking near HH is a good idea if you will have some trouble walking. You may request a ground or at worse a second floor room - just no guarantee. I would mention your foot to them. Only one bldg has an elevator (the newest one). I think it is number 64. Member Services can help you with this.

Congrats on booking your first trip. My family loves the OKW resort, and you will not believe how nice the 1BR unit is.

I see you are from Phila. I'm from the Northeast (Mayfair). When we joined DVC in 1994, I felt like I was the only person in the city who knew anything about it.

P.S. If you do not get a first floor, don't despair. The steps are wide and easy to climb and have landings where you can rest if needed, but I think if you call member services and mention your situation, they will try to honor your request.
