It's Official! Tusker House turning into TS

When Tusker House reopens, it will offer the "Donald's Safari Breakfast" from 8:00am thru 10:30am.

Buffet Lunch/Dinner will be served starting at 11:30am until park closing.(Only breakfast will feature characters.

Note that "Donald's Breakfastosaurus in Restaurantosaurus will be discontinued on November 5. That dining venue will continue to be counter serve from 10:30am till park closing.

From what I've read Tusker House will be a counter service location until it closes on 8/20. When it reopens in a few months it will be a buffet restaurant w/ a character breakfast. Sounds like a TS location when it opens. I'm disappointed because we'll be there on 8/25 and this was our favorite CS location in AK. Oh well

My family will miss the "old" Donald's breakfast, since it was a family favorite, but I'm glad there's still going to be one! I guess I'm the only one who won't miss Tusker House ... we never eat there, because there's nothing on the menu that my family will eat! I always have to just order 4 children's mac & cheese - two for DH! Our family does really well with buffets ... everyone always finds something to eat!

Here is the announcement on the DIS.
Tusker House is closing on August 20 and will reopen on November 17 as a full serve buffet restaurant.

I am wondering if the DDE discount will no longer be valid at Flame Tree since there is now a TS in AK.

It could have been worse; at least the characters are only at breakfast. There had been fears that they would take over Tusker House for all meals.

Still it's a loss of one of the best CS spots in WDW.

I wish they would move the Tusker House menu over to Restaurantosaurus. It will never happen though.

I don't care so much about Tusker house, only been there once for lunch. But we loved Donald's Breakfastosaurus! That is what I am sad about.

I'm actually happy about this. I've never tried Tusker House since we don't go to AK that much because of the lack of TS restaurants for dinner. Now this might be a good reason to go to AK in November and spend the afternoon and enjoy a buffet, perhaps before a night of EMH.

Sounds good to me! Extend AKs hours Theres still plenty to do w/out the trails and safari

And if they add the long rumored "Beastly Kingdom".....

Anyway, on TS...it was our family's favorite....heck ONLY....choice for lunch at AK. We really liked it. I guess we'll head over to the Flame Tree, but.....does it seem like, with the closing of TH, they need to open another CS option?

We thought the food at Tusker House was great, but if they keep the same foods at the TS buffet, I don't know if I'd use up a TS credit or pay all that extra money for it.

We went in Sept 06 and it was so hot, I don't know what I would have done without all of that wonderful A/C in there. Are there any other counter services in AK that have A/C? It gets sooooo HOT there!

I was just coming on to whine! Never been but everyone told me to head there to eat. Closing is at the time we are there. So where is another good place that offers a good selection???

True, but it doesn't look like they'll be taking DDP at Y&Y so people on that plan will still be out a CS.

Well I was running variables through the M5 computer (star trek reference) and logic dictates that if Tusker house is closing on August 20th, then it is logical that Yak & Yeti will be opening on or near August 20th?

Anyone wanna agree or disagree? I realize that is the time of year they start to slow down from the summer crowd... but to take such a major location offline would still over whelm the other locations?

While I am ok with Flame Tree... I am not a fan of McDonalds.

Ya think someone will mention when Yak & Yeti start to take reservations, or if they will soft open prior to activating the reservation system.

This really messes up my normal game plan for AK: go straight to safari, get fastpass, grab breakfast at Tusker House while waiting for fastpass time. I don't want to walk all the way to Donald's Restaurantasaurus and then back to the safari. What other breakfast cs options are there in AK?
