Ugh, it's been a blah start to my year!

Worst, my dog passed the first week of January.
Now this month 3 relatives died!! I've been going to wakes/masses for 3 weeks in a row.
I was not particularly close to those who passed (besides my dog), but man, enough with death already!

Work is going to be crazy for the next 7 months (new system that will change everything).

I am so, so ready for a vacation.

I'm actually just ready for the free concert series to start up at Millennium Park here in Chicago in the summer, love that!

Not much trip planning going on, just waiting for hours to post....

First of all, I am so sorry to hear of all your losses, especially your dog. Its very difficult to lose a constant companion, whether human or canine.

I am in the same boat with regard to trip planning..I'm doing sample plans on Touring Plan based on their recommended days and their predicted EMH days, etc but it won't feel official until the official park hours and EMH days are released. Oh well, gives me something to do to satisfy the itch.

Thanks! I am okay now in terms of losing him (still miss him like crazy), but we are now adjusting to not having any dogs.
When my first dog died in 2009, I still had Max to help me get through it, even though I thought it was going to kill me!

This grief is different as I don't have another dog to help me. So it makes it harder for me to envision getting another dog, like I'll never love one the way I did Max. And at the same time, we desperately miss having a dog!!

I'm hoping by the time we come home from the trip, we'll be ready to have another dog.

I do have my cat, who has been my lifesaver during this . I still get sad sometimes, but I am much better now than I was during his illness/death.


back to trip planning....I can't decide how many sit down dinners we want. We are doing quick service dining plan, but I know we'll want at least a few dinners during the 9 nights we'll be there.

Had a nice rush of planning today! Southwest released their October flights and we decided to go for it. We live in Canada but will be making the trek to Buffalo to save some money(yay more souvenirs for me!!). Looking forward to not having to worry about airport customs too. First time trying this so will be interesting! And wowzers glad we bought the tickets this morning some of the prices have already gone up! lol

So next is park hours should be released in 3 weeks or so? And then it will be ADR making time in April......and then lots more waiting /lesigh.

Right now its the cupcakes for me! I can't say which one cause I don't think I have tried any "special" ones at Disney before. But the Butterfinger and the Cake Cups from Cheshire Cafe are on the must do's!

We each have our favourites. Mine is the kettle corn you can buy at DTD or in the parks, or "Mickey popcorn" as I call it (yes I am a 5 year old at heart when it comes to Disney). Dfi loved the meatball sub at Pizza Planet in DHS..He only discovered them on our last day there and is thrilled to know they sell the same ones at the Pop Century cafeteria. He plans to get one the minute we check in. Actually, I'm sure I'll be at check in with the bags and he'll be wandering over to the cafeteria to get his first "fix"

I hope I don't regret it, but I was able to move us from a grand villa at SSR to a 2BR at VGF (and hoping to add a 1BR to the reservation tomorrow... it wasn't available today). I think we are really going to prefer being closer to the MK and the transportation hub. So first night, all 8 of us will be in the 2BR. I'll wait list the first night in hopes we can get that 1BR early.

Now to just await the date to start making ADRs.
