Me too! Really really looking forward to doing plans for the Halloween trip! this will be much different planning for me...staying offsite (probably SOG) no dining plan and doing MNSSHP and food and wine.

I'm so excited we are going 10/17 to 10/23 staying at AKV Kidani. I'm so excited. :cool1::cool1:

This will be my first MNSSHP.

I can't wait to see the new parade and ride the Mine Train.

We too are off site for first time and doing MNSSHP and F&W for first time. I am using TP predicted hours to plan until we get official hours.

I have done TR and PRT in the past but I never had many followers so I wont do it. I will follow along if you do.

I'm not expecting many followers myself so may skip the PTR, but a TR might just be fun to go back and re-read for myself maybe. lol. Thanks so much for the future follow! ;)

Can we join in the fun?

I hope to make my reservations this week! :cool1:

It will be just my oldest daughter and myself -- October 10-14th -- POFQ

Hoping to surprise my daughter with the news next month on her birthday!!

She is an absolute Jack Skellington freak --- so I want to take her to MNSSHP (and she graduates from college next year so I want a solo mother-daughter trip before she leaves for 2 1/2 years of graduate school!)

So excited!!!!!! :hyper:

Have you stayed CBR in Oct before - I'm considering switching my reservation to there for early Oct and wanting to know what it's like there that time of year

Welcome! I'm sure your daughter will absolutely LOVE the trip! How are you planning to "reveal" it to her? Has she been to Disney often in the past?

10/26-11/1 wilderness lodge!! with DH, DS 8, DS 18 will not be able to make it as he'll be away at college so we all are pretty sad about that. This is our first Halloween trip and MNSSHP! I love to plan so let the fun begin! This isn't our first trip but any advice for the Halloween party I'll take. We always purchase the dining plan and I'm hoping to see free dining for this week (fingers crossed) Im ready for my 180 day window!!!!

We go to Disney as a family every year but this will be our first mother-daughter-only Disney trip and we've never flown together!

What I think I'm going to do is wrap up a few small boxes with clues .. like a little bag of peanuts to symbolize the flight, etc and a few other Disney-cue things. And then a picture of Jack Skellington for the finale ... And then wait for the scream! ;)

She won't suspect a thing with her birthday coming just a few week's before our family Disney trip. I'm expecting a great deal of confusion at first ("Mom, I know I'm going to Disney next month ...") until she figures out the surprise!

I can't wait until they release the October park hours. I'm getting so impatient! I really want to see if we can fit the halloween party into our plans...
me too! its getting closer though.. planning out our park days and ADRs works best for us so Ive been watching the wdw site pretty close!

Joining in! Can't wait for the hours to be released, thinking of doing the DxDDP for the trip and need the hours to plan the restaurants! Right now we're staying at AKL October 5-11...we'll book when the AP rates come out!

Yay! I'm going Oct 4-Oct 10 staying at Saratoga Springs Treehouses. Going with DH, DS, MIL, BIL, SIL, and nephew. I can't wait!! I have only been to DW twice... went to Universal last March for the first time and was not impressed. Trying to talk some friends into going so DS (11) will have his BFF to hang out with!

This will be my first time driving - coming from Northern Alabama (thank goodness they brought our Fall Break back!). It's going to be an adventure!!

Now I'm just waiting on calendars to be released to do my dining reservations...

Happy planning everyone!

Uh Oh, are Fall Breaks a big thing in the States? I thought all I had to worry about was Spring Break..and I thought I was fine for October because I thought the big holiday was the American Thanksgiving in November. D'oh!

Hey, we're coming from N. Alabama, too! We were originally going to be at SSR in a 3BR Grand Villa, but I switched us to VGF at the 7mo window. There will be 8 of us: me and hubby, daughter and her husband, their daughter (21mo at trip), and my 3 teenagers: 18yo son, 16yo daughter, and 14yo son. We'll be there Oct. 4-11.

Had they not brought our Fall Breaks back, we wouldn't be going at all! I've been trying to talk my MIL into DVC purchase to no avail!! So we just rent points!

And, AJ1983, I do not think most of the country partakes in Fall Break - I think it's predominately a southern thing. Can anyone else chime in? The two times I've been to DW have been during Fall Break and the crowds are not bad at all - not to mention the wonderful weather!!

I'm in Virginia. Public schools here don't do a Fall Break but many colleges do -- which is why I'm able to do a quick Friday-Tuesday trip with my oldest for MNSSHP! :)

More and more states are moving to balanced schedules, and adding Fall Breaks. This will be our 8th annual trip (all in October, except for 2010), and the crowds get slightly higher every year. Last year was the most crowded yet. While many people get the breaks, they are staggered, so it really isn't something you can plan around. Our family in IN gets two weeks off, and we get one (all in October) but they do not overlap.

I think it is a southern thing. We've lived in several states (courtesy of the USAF) and have never seen a whole week off of school in the fall before. We have friends in Nebraska who get a long weekend (Friday and Monday off), but that's about it. We were lucky that our kids' private school did not do away with fall break when the public schools did; of course, we start our school year more than a week earlier than the public schools, so it evens out.

This will be our first "vacation" during fall break. My husband is usually too busy for us to go anywhere. I can't wait till we don't have school calendars to work around any longer!
