inkbounc It is official, just got off the phone with a fellow Vacation Club Guide who attended a meeting to officially discuss why of recent Director of Sales, Mitch Frankel quit for the second time (he is going to RCI) George Aguel Executive V.P. and Carlos Castro Dir. of Finance announced that they are going ahead with the plans to build a sizeable resort on the grounds of the Bonnet Creek Golf Club at Eagles Pines. The resort will be larger than OKW by about 1,000 villas. It will cost much more and have huge dues. Buy RESALE now.
You heard it here first........... xxxxxx, Sr. Vacation Club Guide
I'm not sure if this link to a map will work. The Eagle Pines location would be roughly the distance from OKW to BWV in a different direction. The golf course is past the PO complex, turn left and you hit the course before you reach the Ft. Wilderness area.
Welcome to the DIS VCG. Great information. I am so curious to know how Disney will entice people to buy at this new resort with much higher prices and dues. I guess they will have to go all out on themeing. Hope you give us an update sometime. Thanks.
Vacation Club Guide: Why would a Disney Guide encourage people to buy resale and not at the VWL through Disney? Guides make money through Disney property, not resale. Wouldn't it be in your interest for people to buy at this huge resort at a high price?
Yes, something is "fishy" here. I also can't imagine why DVC would put the price up very high when there is the 40 year time limit, and by the time that is built it will be less than that. I guess those of us who own OKW will have to be content with trying to reserve at the 7 month window!!
Happy Birthday Cat I thought the same thing as soon as I read this post. The VCG that I have talked to will say nothing about the existance of resales or in any way try to get you to look in that direction.
VCG will you not get into trouble releasing this info.? And I am sure that DVC will not look kindly upon your suggestion of buying a resale. VCG do you work for DVC or are you working for a reseller?
I would just like to point out that nothing is "Official" until it has been announced by Disney themselves. I have not seen any announcements nor anything in the media about this yet.
This is just something to add to the rumor mill...until we see a press release. Heck, it's not even definite what's happening with the BCV yet, let alone this new "announcement".
Hey Vacation Club Guide or Linda
Since you mentioned Sales Managers etc., does Clark Cable still work for DVC? He sold us our first points at OKW in 91. I heard he got promoted not long after. He was the perfect example of a CM. What a great guy.
Hello Doubletrouble and Welcome to the DIS! This thread, as it stands, is appropriately posted on the DVC Board. If you have any questions regarding the subject, however, please feel free to email the moderators of this board. Thank you.
I vote for creative rumor. The DVD top-notch would never (a) tell the guides there will definitely be a new resort at a location unless they are about to announce it publicly, (b) tell anyone it is going to cost a whole lot more in price and dues than existing resorts. The point on dues is also ridiculous as the costs per point of running and keeping up a resort do not substantially differ among resorts--differences that exist mainly reflect differences in available services at a resort and I cannot imagine it having more hotel services than you do now at BWV.
I will be waiting to hear something official, sounds pretty wierd to me. I was wondering why we have heard anything more about it under the rumors board. JP
